Three two by sixes and a whole lot of metal pipe. Ebony stain and three coats of satin poly. I can send you a full list of all the pipe you'd need. Also it. Cost me about 175 or so total.

I figured there honestly wouldn't be any problems with it. Just get a little anxious with bike racks ever since my friend's broke off and landed on his father's car haha. Next year they had their basketball hoop tip over and land on the hood of their pick-up.

Looks like a pretty sick setup though, I love corner desks like that. Just need a better keyboard to make it look better.

it's a hook that's screwed into a ceiling beam. so if it falls.. well i kinda deserve it haha. bike weighs ~12lbs IIRC. so not heavy at all.

i actually need to change desk, this one is falling apart. plus the coating is coming off where my arms rest. but that's ikea for you..

Desks are one thing that I don't know **** about. I don't know what's a good brand and what's not so I feel like IKEA is just the way to go for the most part.

Yup, this. Or find an older wooden desk off Craigslist or something. I've had my current desk setup for 15 years; we inherited it from a neighbor.
It's not ideal for a computer setup considering it was made before computers were a household thing, but it does the job and it's sturdy as heck.

Yeah, I'm just using a small wooden table and it works great. I drilled a hole it in to mount one of those articulated desk lamps, so I don't have to rely on the garbagey clamp it came with. And I think my HHKB resonates quite nicely against the wood

Also, if anybody is looking for beautiful wooden tops to cover your work surface (or build a desk around), these guys look great:
