tecware phanntom elite mod to usb c detach

I have tecware phanmtom elite 104 and i use 5 pin USB on the PCB 5V,D+,D-,Ground, and SG. So, what is SG do ? https://i.ibb.co/Yk1dHLh/IMG-20210626-200753.jpg

for usb c breakout, which board i should buy ? standar usb c with only 4 pin need to solder ? https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005002795893679.html

I think SG could be "shield ground".

For USB 2.0 device to work with USB Type C, you just need to connect the usual 4 pins (VCC, GND, D+, D-) and additionally connect CC1 and CC2 to ground each via its own 5.1k resistor (to set the correct USB device mode). You can ignore all the other pins.

Just watch out - because USB-C is reversible, all pins exist in pairs: 1 in the top row and one in the bottom row. So D+ is actually 2 pins - DP1 and DP2, that need to be connected together. Same with D- (DN1, DN2) VCC and GND (there are actually 4 pins for each).

thanks for your information and help. Should i care about "shield ground" or just leave it ( not connect to anything ) ?

and, it's better to buy usb c breakout with only 4 pin like this (https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005002795893679.html) ? because it is simple dan safe ?

The 4 pin only connects D- to one pin so it will only work with the cable one way up.
