Well, two hours later and I think I got it all sorted out. Put all the caps on a table with the sprue marks facing away from me. This sorted them into two obvious groups (R1/R2, and R3/R4). Shined a flashlight on the R1/R2 caps to find two that reflected differently, and lined them up like they would be on a keyboard, and repeated for R3/R4. Once I got four caps lined up like the profile picture Kaisar posted, I then just slowly started separating them out, using a flash light to accentuate the subtle differences in contours.
The only real challenge that I'm not confident I did correctly was identifying the F and J keys. Never had spherical keycaps before, so no clue how pronounced the enhanced dip of those keys are supposed to be. If I did get it right, then I think I'm going to struggle with identifying my home row... I'm used to have a raised bar/bump on those keys which is quite obvious, and this spherical approach just isn't pronounced enough.
Anyway... not a fun task. Never seen such poorly packaged keycaps from a company before.
