Been going through an SP Crap Bag? ;)

I have a few of those DSA caps.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Cut down the Apple PCB, put it into a Poker case.  = Both are the standard layout.
As you know, Alps SW keycaps  for the Apple Ext 1 and 2 are identical.   and to be Wired to an USB controller

40% is crazy, does this still having the full size keyboard's functionality through secondary key strokes?

Yes, full TKL fucntionality through function layer.

WOW!!   No dedicated 40% case yet?

We are still working out the details. I have made a couple viki style cases for mine. PCB is being finalized now. :)

my keyboards all have tooooooo many keys , help me JD

I've been using 60 percent boards for about a month already.

After I got my Originative Dolch set, I felt like it would look better on my CM tkl.

I put them on my tkl and started using it replacing my 60 percent board.

It made me realize how difficult it was to move my hands so far off the home row to reach over to the right to use the arrow keys.

I'm pretty sure I'm a 60 percent convert, now.

I'm looking to see what comes of the 40 percent board.

I think SSKs and other TKL boards are considered "compact," while 65% and less designs are in the "mini" category. Where do we put 75%?

You always choose strange locations to take pictures of your boards... And I don't understand this oversized buttons thing...

but cool that it is possible to cut down these old apple boards

Only 75%, no 60% or tkl boards. I need arrows and F# keys, which 60% don't offer. And tkl is pretty dumb imo, as the 75% is more compact with pretty much the same stuff. There is so much unused space on a tkl

Nice keyboards there, I do find the stock keycaps for FC660M is good but there are serious issues with the printing on the legend, it just gone in few weeks or light usage :( but I do like the PBT material on this FC660M.

By the way, where r u from? Poker 2 is still not yet released at your place?

I should be more concise with my post, my bad. I meant that there's no local distributorship for Poker, though a keyboard dealership here is going to bring in some. I'll be getting my yellow Ducky with MX Clear from them as well.

60% is the way to go. The only downside is it always helps to have the same keyboard in all locations due to different Fn layouts. But really it doesn't take long to adjust back to whatever board you're currently on.

I love the idea of 60% keyboards.

The size and look of them are simply lovely.

Only problem is I need Esc and Tilde keys.  Taking one of them out of the standard position really throws me for a loop.

I suppose you use a Mac, Matias? I have the same issue. I need Command-Tilde to switch among different windows of the same application. Not being able to do that is very inconvenient to me. What I have done is use the KeyRemap4MacBook and map it such that in order to switch among the windows, I now have to do a Command-Shift-Esc, which is the best compromise I can find.

Guilty as charged.  :-)

Another approach would be to put an extra column of keys along the left side, kindof like the old PC keyboards but only one column, and make the top key Esc.  In fact, I wouldn't mind having an Enter key and a Backspace key on the left side, so I don't have to take my hand off the mouse.  Something like this...

With a fully programmable keyboard, you put it where you want! I personally don't use much of the mods between the right alt and right ctrl. But each of us it's place! Also, with function layer, it does not have to be in the primary layer if not used often!

Yes! I love mini / micro boards. I've gone from 104 key full size to MS X6 (removable numpad, but with extra macro keys) to Roccat Arvo (numpad changes to arrow and edit cluster) to Ducky TKL to this:

42116-0

48 key DIY ergo. Loving it and have plans for a 40-key version :D

I thought about getting a 60% board, but just can't go back to a "normal" physical layout.

Buying more keycaps,
it really hacks my wallet,
but I must have them.

I think the issue with this, like many Razer BWU owner can attest is that the extra column somehow screwed up your mind and therefore finger placement. I find myself always typing the wrong word because my mind seemed to think that the keys start at the macro key column of the BWU. And so I always type A when I meant to type a S.

I had a sudden impression when I saw this that the bright red bits on the cable connecting the two halves were lights that flowed along the cable from one side to the other when you pressed a key.

That would be cool :)

But also probably somewhat distracting.

Do you use it with palm rests?  I would probably be less strain on wrists that way.

Thanks!
Yup, for now I'm using a plastic box about the right height, but will make some proper palm rests at some point. Definitely needed for extended gaming sessions.

Don't give me ideas! I have too many projects already!  ;) It would look cool, though. I do plan to put an RGB LED inside each half for general backlighting at some point.

Smaller is better!

We really need a 40% keyboard (smaller than poker)

Maybe put the numbers as a fn layer under the qwerty row or something.

Ducky Mini ISO Layout. It'll get a blank set once I have all the secondary layer functions memorised, as I'm not swedish/finnish.

Here is my Ducky Mini with Browns :)
