Are you sure it is a CM? It seems like the mStone Groove87 from IDFactory, though the keycaps are definitely CM.Considering the box says Cooler Master QuickFire Rapid, yeah I'm pretty sure it is. It also has the red lights for scroll lock and caps lock. The only branding it has is on the top of the frame, it says cmstorm.
I hope it is a new design, or maybe just the OEM screwed the branding, and it is just one of a kind. Either way it is nice.

any branding on the top?Ya there is a 'CMSTORM" logo on the top left that is out of sight during use. Its the exact same logo seen above the arrow keys in the previous version, pretty sure even in dimensions as well.

That must be lighting + crap phone image quality, because it looks perfect in person. And about that bad batch, these are electronics and the reality is sometimes they come dead on arrival.and still has a great price and build!

How long as the quickfire MX reds been on amazon? I check every few weeks for a couple months and it was not available, and I just found out from this thread. Think I'm about to grab another QF rapid MX reds. Carter, so you can confirm the ones on US amazon that MX reds will be guaranteed to not have logos, but MX blues is still a matter of luck? Ok so I just got my CM QuickFire Rapid with Reds about 20 minutes ago and I unbox it and it looks used. I immediately see this scratch on my alt key and these feint like rubbing/wearing on the corners of a few of the keys but noticeable on the Esc and ctrl keys... This is immediately out of the box mind you and my first thought was someone used a keycap tool on the Alt key...If you bought it on amazon, return should be easy. Just say the item is defective. They will give you a free return label and just send it off.
I carry on and hook it up and start typing away and try to Alt+tab to another window... Nothing.. Left-Alt doesn't work at all. Nothing. Tab works, right alt works. At this point I don't even care to find out what else doesn't work. I purchased this keyboard about 8 hours before Carter announced his new 30% off keyboard sale. So I paid full price on Amazon. So now what? RMA? Return to Amazon? I'm going to get hit with return shipping on top of paying $27 more for this item. Not impressed.

Hmm, I thought I read that it was free shipping? How do we correct that on the order form?When it asks you for a reason for the return, choose the option similar to the item being defective, or not working as described. That would give you a free shipping label back to Amazon. If that doesn't work, I would just chat with a customer service rep to get the free return label.

My brother wanted a keyboard for his birthday so we got him the CM quickfire rapid with reds, and when I noticed it only had labeling on the backside I was ecstatic! I understand you are trying to do this community a service and try to provide your KB, unbranded, at a very low price. However, what you are in fact doing is selling a low priced crap shoot. Yes people are getting a mech keyboard with the switches of their choice (although some people are compromising bc browns aren't avail brandless). No people are not getting 100% unbranded products. It's like finding a golden ticket at this point. (If you get it unbranded guys throw it on Ebay because no on else knows about it, they don't even announce it on their extremely active Facebook page. $63 for a red from CM, $89 on Amazon, Unbranded? F-it $116 on Ebay.)
In my case I did get an unbranded KB, full price from Amazon, but it didn't work. I'll spend $50 more on another brand to know what I'm getting any day. I have quite a few CM products spread across my computers at home so I was happy to go with CM at first. After reading other peoples experiences combined with the quality of mine, I just feel like something concrete needs to come out here before I consider looking at this "deal".
If you don't really know if the old branded stuff is gone then don't guarantee anything. Talking to customer service to get a unicorn doesn't always work. Speaking of work, hope it does boys and girls.

Also holy **** how loud costar stabilizers are, like the backspace and enter are shrieking/wailing so loudly when pressed. I know you are supposed to grease them and I will soon I guess, but still I didnt have any of these problems with my cherry stabilizers at all on my old keyboard (just saying) which felt equally good compared to costar stabilizers so far in feel. Atleast with ungreased costars as I have now. Im not really impressed, doesnt feel like a upgrade.

However, this promotion caused the store distribution center to pull their stock prior to sale, meaning that the unbranded boards that Carter knew were there weren't the ones that the store shipped out as they usually would have done. Don't give Carter flak for giving us all a great deal. So a board's branded. It works just as well as the unbranded ones. In your first sentence you use the word entitled. And that's how you come off as.
Entitled to products as advertised? If you go on their website and look at their advertisement, you'll see branded keyboards. And that's what you got. Some people got lucky and got unbranded ones. Doesn't matter if you made a note to operations or not. They had a PO (purchase order) that needed to be shipped out, and they did their job. It got to you, and it got to you in one piece.
So what if you wrote in the comments that you wanted an unbranded one. They're not going to sit there and open a shrinkwrapped pallet of 50 keyboards in their warehouse, and check for branding for each and every customer that requests it. They're selling you product at cost, and they probably moved a lot of keyboards, given the exposure on Reddit, OCN, and Geekhack. I sure as hell wouldn't be as nice as Carter, and given this kind of reaction, would never do it again.
I do have a question, how are you going to refuse a package from UPS when they drop it on a door step and don't knock before leaving? It's not like they'll drive back and go "Oh, he didn't take it, that must mean he's refusing it."You can tell them at your door or take it back to a UPS office if you miss them at the door and say that you refuse the package. They will take it back IF and only IF you have not opened it.
Also, I don't know why the CM rep would tell you there's outright no returns when neither the specific page for the keyboard, nor stated return policies, enforce that. In fact, the stated return policy for cmstore.com is that you pay for return shipping and if the package is in not-new condition, you get charged 15% restocking. So even the furor over "they won't takes it backs?!?!" is embellished.
Carter's word, however reliable, is hardly a 'guarantee'. So no, there was no official guarantee and the way some people are acting here is verging on immature.I'm not expressing anger, although I am disappointed. The whole experience has a left a sour taste in my mouth regarding the reliability of forum posts by sales reps. I understand that it is not an official guarantee which is why I did not hold them to Carter's word and am simply returning it by means of refusing the package so it can be sold off to someone else completely new and untouched without loss in perceived value. Not completely sure how returning an unused product is immature after it has been implied as something else in Carter's posts here. Again, I don't blame Carter personally. But it should be noted that it is still an inconvenience for the consumer.

Yeah, I was looking to get a keyboard anyways and found this deal pretty last minute. Shipping is taking a little longer than expected (hasn't shipped yet) but once I get my board even if it has brands I'll be happy.
I grabbed a refurbed rabid with blues and for the price I think it was a great opportunity to not only get into mechanical keyboards, but try out blues. And...I am far from disappointed in both regards. No sh|t. Who expects to get the newest version product at a closeout price? If you read the thread, & cared that much about getting an unbranded board you should have considered getting one from Amazon @ $90 shipped! still much less than any other Costar board. & they were actually confirmed brandless by myself and a person before me. & Amazon used FedEx shipping for whoever needed it.
PLUS; Carter, again generously, offered to get unbranded top cases and said they should be incoming! but in return he gets b|tch b|tch moan moan. Forget the ol saying 'beggers cant be choosers'? Good luck getting your unbranded case now, you scared him off!

Yes only blues, its very challenging to have any other sellers other than amazon or Newegg to carry the same product with different switches. They frankly have no idea what the difference is.

Working on top cover. Looking very promising. Do have a question for those interested. I can bring in grey and black which I will bring in both, but with majority grey case owners out there. Do need to hear if they would be sticking with grey.

Ok so I just got my CM QuickFire Rapid with Reds about 20 minutes ago and I unbox it and it looks used. I immediately see this scratch on my alt key and these feint like rubbing/wearing on the corners of a few of the keys but noticeable on the Esc and ctrl keys... This is immediately out of the box mind you and my first thought was someone used a keycap tool on the Alt key...
I carry on and hook it up and start typing away and try to Alt+tab to another window... Nothing.. Left-Alt doesn't work at all. Nothing. Tab works, right alt works. At this point I don't even care to find out what else doesn't work. I purchased this keyboard about 8 hours before Carter announced his new 30% off keyboard sale. So I paid full price on Amazon. So now what? RMA? Return to Amazon? I'm going to get hit with return shipping on top of paying $27 more for this item. Not impressed.

I received my QFR with MX Reds on Tuesday, the left ALT appears to be broken, not getting any response from it, unsure about other keys. I emailed the store that night but have yet to receive a response, probably backed up still from all the orders? Might call them tomorrow about it :/

Where are you located? Looks like a Spanish layout to me.
You must have gotten a board with Spanish layout by mistake. Contact CM's support, they'll arrange an exchange, shouldn't be a problem.
I think the number of keys is actually different between ISO (Spanish) and ANSI (US). For instance, on a US keyboard, you have 3 keys on the right of the P (you only have 2 on yours). And the Enter key is smaller on a US keyboard.
And I think your Z is not right next to the left shift, is it? (on a US layout, it is)
It depends on whether you can live with that. Personally, I'd exchange it.
Hey guys is it too late to cancel my order? It says "awaiting shipment" but there isn't a cancel button only a reorder button. I'm kinda fed up with the long waiting time to ship.
From the way I look at it. The only layout in a keyboard that I don't like is when the Backspace key is shortened.
I rarely (if ever) use the |\ or Left-Shift keys.
I guess I could re-mail it, but how am I guaranteed to not get another Spanish layout?
If you plan on replacing the keycaps, then you'd have a problem because your US-Enter key won't fit.

Well, I'm not sure how it will even work to be made available through CM, because it will also void the warranty (removing the current case top to replace it with another requires breaking the warranty seal on the bottom and partial disassembly). Honestly, the branding is not that bad now that I have one. My concern is more with the coating that is on the case. It has a nice, rubbery texture, but I wonder how durable it will be.

*sigh* dammit. It's happening on this one too. However, I noticed that if I press on the key pretty hard it works especially on the left side? After a few hard presses it seems to work with lighter presses.. no idea why this is happening... anyone familiar with the circuitry in these babies?It could be the switch wasn't seated right before soldering, making the connection intermittent. If this is the case, I'd expect it to get worse with time.

As for your question. I'd recommend getting CM Storm QuickFire rapid with MX Red, since it's made by Costar. While CM Storm Trigger and CM Strom QuickFire Pro are made by iOne.
Costar manufactures Filco, WASD Keyboards, Das Keyboards, ThermalTake Mekka G1... etc
iOne manufactures Razer Blackwidow, iOne, Max Keyboards, QPad, XAmor... etc
In short Costar > iOne build quality.
First of all, Trigger is made by Costar.
Second of all, both Reds and Blues are on the way but will be about 1.5-2 months before they hit the channels.

I actually like the keycaps..i sadly dont even on the unbranded one they just dont feel quality. Now looking back i dont know how i used a 7G for so many years with the same caps.

Just checked and unfortunately the limited QTY of brown switch rapids I have left are still branded. As you can imaging with recent announcements, brown switches are in major shortage right now so new stock got delayed a little for me until about middle of november for rapids.
A huge thanks to Carter, my 2 brandless cherry reds got to Canada via USPS tracked in perfect shape! Beautiful boards, o-rings going in now.
Even if they came in branded i would have still been happy with the great deal and free shipping, can't really beat that.
However it looks like one of them has the left alt key not working issue :*(
The other one works fine though.

I was cleaning mine. I never noticed how flexible the case is in front of the spacebar. It flexes ~5mm+ away from the spacebar. Yikes.
I just got my Quick Fire today via Amazon and it has the branding. :mad: I am okay with it but i would have preferred to have the non labeling. I think they just have some left in stock and some are lucky and some aren't. :rolleyes:

I got mine in the mail today. It's awesome! I gamed on it for some time, and I really like it! My room-mate uses a QFR with blues, so it's easy to compare the sounds. I just wish I had a microphone or a camera so I can capture the differences for everyone.
After several hours, the greens are heavy, but enjoyable. It'll take me a bit to get used to them. With keyboards of such different weights, it's hard not to bottom out on everything.
Greens are my new favorite switch. I hate to say it, but I like them more than buckling spring. They are MUCH heavier than blues. They were even heavier than my Unicomp! And the noise of an MX green is more appealing than either MX blues or BS's to me. This was probably the single best purchasing decision I made, outside of that ducky YOTD with reds, because it really does make gaming easier with light, linear switches.

But if he deals with the Espanol (I donno how to type the squiggly n on windoze) keyboards then it would sort of make sense that maybe he did Panama, Columbia, Venezuela, but they are a long ways away....

Check the cable is plugged in properly, try (gently) unplugging and replugging it a couple of times.
Try the keyboard on a different computer.
Try a different USB cable.

Costar has identified the issue, apologized a million times and we changed a few SOPs for QC. Rest assured this will not happen again.
Since I've taken my board apart several times (and I have the pictures to prove it) as well as ordered it from Taiwan when they very first came out, (and it's probably more than a year old) I consider my warranty to be not available. If you ask nicely, someone here will probably give you some CM Win keys.
Browns are not noisy, unless you bottom out (i.e. slam the key all the way down). The switches actually activate about half way down, and with a bit of practice you can get used to just pressing the keys half way down.

Just gonna take a second to say my favorite keyboard right now is the QFR I have at work with reds and o-rings. It types so smoooove and consistent.... I do have a few (hopefully helpful) feedback items to give CM Storm;

Everything else about the 'boards has been perfect. The key caps on the CM Storm keyboards are the perfect texture already - they don't make my fingers stick in place for a split second, like the Razer BWU

Don't believe all the hype about the QuickFire. I saw one at Fry's (with out labeling) and got excited because it was like $(50 - 80) depending on if it was an open box. I played with one for a minute and I have to say that it feels cheep. I was very dissapointed because of everything I heard about it being a Filco clone got me almost ready to buy one. I've never used a Filco, and wanted one for a while now. However, QuickFire feels cheep. Typing away on if for a minute (this one had blues) and I have a ducky with blues as well, so I can do a dirrect comparison. The ducky is about $130, but you get what you pay for. I would rather have one ducky than two quickfires, the difference is that big for me.
I won't completely hate. If you only have that much to spend, it is still much better than any dome keyboard, but my ducky and das murder it in quality. My only advice is this, if you have the extra money, get something else, if not, this will do........i suppose.

How are you liking the MX Black version? Mine is coming in tomorrow, but then I can't open it for two weeks. Infernal Christmas... I'm planning on using it on the go and for gaming.

I got one of these and I'm having an odd problem. It came with a squeaky backspace key which I gently pulled off with the provided key puller to check if anything was rubbing, but it looked fine. However, I put the key back on and now my backspace, F9, F10, F11, and F12 keys don't work at all. Even pulling the backspace back off and pressing directly on the switch does nothing. Could I really have done so much damage just pulling the key off?
No luck trying on another computer or standard trouble shooting steps. I can't say I've ever seen a piece of hardware flame out so suddenly with such little cause. I like this keyboard so hopefully any replacement won't be as fragile.
So my buggy ALT-key QFR up and died on me on Friday. I saw "no keyboard detected" at bootup and when Windows loaded, the keyboard did not respond nor light up when toggle keys were pressed. Tried USB cables, different ports, computers, PS/2 adapters; it will shortly flash up when connected, but that's probably just the electrical circuit response to plugging it in.My QFR (now having alt-issues) Also won't work on one of my computers. Also my brand new (and awesome) QFR in greens doesn't work on it either. Is it recognized in device manager(windows) (or lsusb in linux) or system profiler (OSX 10.6 or earlier. Forgot what they changed the name to in lion)

When u switch to PS/2 u need to reboot.He said he's tried different computers, as well as USB cables. If it won't work on USB, it probably wont' work on PS2

I just ordered a CM QFR. I hafta have my ALT keys. I don't want to waste a $200.00 investment.

Has that problem been reported as a cable issue? hard to imagine a single switch failing because of a cord.

No it is not a cord issue.
The numbers seem high only because it affected one shipment batch (1/10 boards in one shipment we received), so its not necessarily high overall, just very concentrated during a short run.
We will be happy to replace it and I do apologize for any inconvenience..
Costar has identified the issue, apologized a million times and we changed a few SOPs for QC. Rest assured this will not happen again.
Just got mine for Christmas (with Cherry MX Black.) I have branding on mine. I don't care though, it isn't very intrusive due to the color scheme.
You guys could always just wet sand your case like I did.Got any more pictures of it? I'm considering doing it to my QFR if I can't bother finding paint for it.
