Gah damn, that leafspring tho

Looks like the Leaf Springs probably won't do anything since the gasket covers the entire thing

Yes it is a stupidly designed  thing because the  "leaf spring"   doesn't actually do anything.   it's basically top mount   or like normal "gasket" mount   or whatever this stupid   hobby calls it

The treeleaf is angry at the Hobby and  He doesn't like it!! Stupid Inconsistent Terminology!

Exterior design wise looks interesting

Would need to get some protos out for real functional judgement though

Also can we just agree that keeb ICs should have protos?

Renders alone only tell so little of the story

North facing LEDS? in 2021?

Also, how much flex you reckon those leaf springs actually add compared to standard gasket?

If the gaps in the middle of the plate are 1.53mm, that means the plate strips on either side are 0.5mm

seems like the plate will be hard to build with and not very durable. Especially with more brittle materials.

We  test  the protype and feel that it is OK. The PC material is not fragile,It's been in use for almost a month

the upper part prevent the leaf spring to bend upward. true.
but, compared to the same design with solid/filled plate, this leaf spring plate will result more flexible.
am i wrong?

The aesthetic and some of the layout choices are not my personal preference, especially the open bottom row, but the rest of the plate is interesting. Im not sure how functional the flex cuts will be, and durability would definitely be a concern but you have obviously put some time into the design and im looking forward to seeing and hearing the proto, if only so you can silence all the armchair designers in this thread, haha!

I think it's worth mentioning that ABBB and his team has probably made the fastest GB of 2021 with the Vast-60, which was delivered in under 2 months at a very juicy price point!

the sound is not to my taste, maybe lubing the switches will help but it sounds too hollow and not much better than an entry tray mount like tofu, maybe another plate material or some foam would help but it will have to be a pass from me.

by the way for the leaf springs people are talking about maybe it is that the designer was not aiming for them to be leaf springs since they are completely blocked from below so they cant flex, maybe it is just for aestheic purpose

How does HHKB or WKL or that weird arrow key layout work with the clear polycarbonate? Do you see the plate under it or will the case have blockers? It sort of seems like the latter in the renders, but I'm not sure.

Poron on the top and the bottom of the plate , and the flex cut of the plate itself can indeed make the keyboard feel a relatively soft typing

Please use some nicer feet - these feet have been there since 2013 or older and are featured in < $70 low-profile keyboard cases.

I look forward to the evolution of this design otherwise.
