If he's an american distributor, why does he need someone to handle shipping?  :-\

Still very excited about this!

since i am a F*** student living on campus and don't want to see the mad mail lady 9999 times a day.

I'll PM you then about being a proxy.

I am glad to see that one of the "colors" will be transparent. Looking forward to this as it, theoretically, should allow a bit more light to wander inside the switch.

Not sure if this was brought up before, but it may be a good idea to run a second GB at the same time for the piece that easily removes the switch tops. Just throwing this out there as I would be interested in both that, and the new covers.

You'd be referring to Beast's switch tools which are all handmade by The_Beast himself. I believe he was planning on doing an R2 of the GB for them sometime soon but not sure when.

R2 kind of already happened it was a fairly quick, "get em outta here" done in his classified thread.

no word on an R3 but I'm hoping in R4 for wood handles to be added.

I just hope one exists in general :)) Now that I've got an MX board again, this actually pertains to me :p

80$ for 200, ouch.. that is quite pricy, almost the costs of the entire switch. 0.40$ each.

I have to do a bit of rethinking here.

Yeah the cost is pretty high, so this is more for those who love pure visuals lol. I must say though, I bet this will allow for some sick customization.

ah, so that means the more orders we get the cheaper it will become? because the model fee will be divided into different orders?

so lets hype this thing guys!!! ;)

I would be interested in a package of 100 or 65, but I have no use for 200. Why not smaller packages? Oh and you need to advertise this so we can reduce the price, it's a bit high atm but I think a lot more people are actually interested in this, they just haven't seen it yet. Maybe put a link in your signature or sth.

I'm still interested.  Any idea when the GB will be up?  Also, we'd probably get way more order volume with $40 100/pc sets instead of $80 200/pc sets...

Agreed. I'd like to get all three colors and I'll only be using these on 60% boards, so 100/pc sets would work better for me.

100 Piece sets would indeed be better for alot of people. But I think he started with 200 piece sets to get the numbers higher so costs would be reduced.

Makes sense. However, I would be more inclined to get all three colors, and thus 300 vs. just 200 in one color. Just a thought.

Apparently Korea already had a small run of these, they do look pretty damned amazing. They did alps first, but I think my friend has one with MX. White is honestly the only color we need, it'll look like whatever color the pcb is underneath
Keyboards:
Filco Majestouch 2 - Sakura Edition [MX Blue]
Filco Majestouch 2 - Lotus Edition [MX Brown]
Realforce 23ub - Modded with 55g Domes.

Did you mean transparent? Transparent will kinda look like the slider underneath, the PCB will not be visible at all since you still have the bottom part of the switch.

what if someone want 104 or 105? that will take a lot of time packing specific numbers of covers in one single bag,

200=104/105+87+some left over( if you lost or break a couple of them)
200= 3*GH60 +some left over also!

Most of the time when you see springs or switches for sale it's 100, the reason is that most mech users have a TKL or even a 60%, the full size boards are simply not as popular.

Your argument is that somebody with a full size has not enough, and if he has a TKL as well 200 would be pretty perfect. Well why should that person not be able to buy 2x100? By forcing 200 per order you only get that people are splitting up orders, and that will end in less ordered covers:
With 200, one order is enough for 3 60% boards, so three people with each a 60% can split up that order. Then you sold 200 covers.
With 100 pieces per bag you will have 3 people who each buy a bag, they won't split orders because there is not enough for two boards, and the buyers probably won't mind having a few in spare. Then you sold 300 covers.

Yeah it does seem like people are more inclined to order multiple 100 packs instead of just a single 200 pack.

How easy will these be to break? I'm guessing there will be a small prototype batch or something to test?

Made from ABS, and I think the original ones are ABS as well so they shouldn't break that easily.

or... this might be a bad idea but. why not sell in different packages ie. 65, 90, 110, with 3 different prices.

60% kit = 65 pieces = 26$
80% kit = 90 pieces = 36$
fullsize  = 110 pieces = 44$

so people can choose a color for that particular board. I think like would encurage more people to buy. but again that puts more work to the proxy person.

Seeing as things might break and we need a certain amount of orders that would be a bad idea, people usually don't mind buying a bit too much. Also it will require more sorting work.

What would have been great if we ordered our own molds would be to modify them to allow for the LED to slide through the switch top cover. This post illustrates it quite well:

I used a dremel to grind it down like that.  I still had to trim off some of the extra plastic with a small cutter when I was done...but I only did 3 pieces for my QFR. :))

It would be awesome if these switch tops were pre-modified...that would save me A LOT of time when I mod my Shine 2.

Problem with a prototype is that the mold itself already costs 5000$ according to the OP.

Fair point. Is this an exact replica, except without the cherry logo, or has it been somewhat simplified? If so, could we see a 3d mockup?

Without the cherry logo, that would cause problems with copyright. Kinruan has no mockup, but apart from the missing logo I think they will be pretty much the same. However I wonder if cherry would actually make a run of colored covers? Anybody got contacts at cherry? I could ask at ZF but the factuory they have here is producing transmissions so I don't think they could help me out.

I heard back from Cherry rep, Cherry does not want to make them at all, and claimed they never have even though I gave picture proof LOL! So I guess press on with the 3rd party and new molds and stuff.
