another defective keyboard from china.  this time the mkc geekey 87.  think i've learned my lesson about mail ordering keyboards from china.

since these were all custom built for the drop, you'd think at they very least they'd test them out and make sure all the keys work before mailing them halfway around the world!

Your mistake was buying untested, untried keyboards from China via Massdrop. I have ordered three keyboards from reputable sources in China, and they have all turned out fine.
Can we get them to build the Alps ten feet higher and get Cherry to pay for it?

Got a few things after coming back from turkey on hols

Whats in the box bubble wrap?

Sainsburys bag?

Morrisons bag?

What is it?

Something with cardboard ontop?

HHKB!

Pictue of it but I'm too lazy to flip it :p

Super Gunkey but it didn't cost much and there is NO SHINE WHAT SO EVER AND NO CUSTOMS FEES (Cost £120 all in all which I thinks pretty good)

Info's on the board

Would anyone be able to tell me what wieght this one is as I have no clue also it has black sliders so that means its not a S? Or just say its a HHKB Pro (Whatever it is cause I have no clue)
First impression on topre I don't like it some a stiff some are not, weird feeling I like the bottom on it as its softer on the fingers, I will use it for a while then do a write up for it :x

SADSTERS!

Love the card I need to file them somewhere as I have a few now, also need to look for a hapster :x

Anyway time to go clean up the HHKB :D

All stock HHKB's are 45g and there is no stock silent black version.

Ahh thank you ray, that might explain why it feels soft, because I'm used to MX Blacks because I like things stiff and hard ;)

But thanks so this is a HHKB Pro 2 45g thank you very much :) Also just finished cleaning it all out was sat outside on the grass took the space bar off and there was a spring there shot off but I found it also, why is the right sift so hard to take off the slide looks thicker than all the others the little teeth in the middle are HUGE

No SkiData (orange Esc soon™) , Charred Orange! Winkey Mods (from Originative also). It's weird, if these keys were posted in the Classifieds for the prices he listed they would have been sold sooner and I'd be s.o.l

HHKB squad getting bigger. Not better, since we pretty much hit the top when I joined. But definitely bigger. Soon we will have a big enough presence that we can fit the cherry scum to the death and win.

Just have to use it. I was switching between this and a tkl when I first got mine and the backspace placement was my biggest problem. But after a couple of days I was pro with it. Haven't looked back to unnecessarily big keyboards since then.

"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Today I received two keyboards I bought last week on ebay.

Top keyboard is a Focus FK-2001 with white Alps. Seems to be in very good condition. I'm typing on it now.
Bottom keyboard has blue alps, but I'm not sure what it is. All it says is "DSE Multitech". Got it for $15 + $15 AUD postage. I'll probably just use it as a donor board.

I've always wanted to try Blue Alps switches. How are they?

The keyboard is filthy, so I'm sure that diminishes the quality of the feeling a bit, but they're still excellent. The white ones are a bit jarring, but blues just seem significantly smoother.

I can't use that one right now for a couple of reasons. I need to put the spacebar back on its stabiliser wire and I think I'll need to disassemble it to do that. Can't be bothered right now. Secondly, that layout is probably something I would have trouble adapting to. Finally, I really hate typing on filthy keyboards so I need to clean it first. Something else to do when I disassemble it.

Ah fair enough. Good luck with all of the disassembly and reassembly :) A dream of mine is a 60% with Blue Alps so I'm a little jealous.

I'm planning to make an 80% with blue Alps, but I already bought the switches for it off someone else, so at this point I don't really have a use for the 83 in the DSE Multitech. If I take them out and decide I have no use for them, I'll keep you in mind.
