Did we get the custom plastic thing straightened out?We just need to pick the pantone color we want and everything should be fine. I'm sure we will surpass the $500 of materials required for a new color based off of a couple questions I asked Melissa.
Looking at the prices and comparing this to what I'm trying to run and push through the new system they have, I wonder if I'm better off just emailing melissa and doing this the old fashioned way.
Is the vendor set keys from each vendor, or keys from one vendor? I'm confused :(Each vendor is allowing us to make one or more keys for this set. The vendor set is essentially key legends that the participating vendors are letting us use so we don't have to pay $45 fees for each key legend. They will be in the GX and TOX colors so that you can have some novelty keys to match the Toxic set. The vendor set is a way to get all the keys in one shot at a discount, but if you don't like all the keys then individuals will also be available at a marked up price at the respective vendor sites after the group buy is over.

Does anyone else thing that keeping this buy open until March may cause problems?
First, in 3-4 months people may change their minds on what they want. Second, at this point, the sets are not going to get a whole lot cheaper.
I am certainly in favor of leaving it open for enough time to let everyone in who wants in, but March seems like overkill.
Well if you all want it concluded sooner, then push the Cherry font controllers to start collecting pledges and get it done faster. It is all well and good that they want to be able to make keys to support more languages, but there is no point delaying 95% of the community in my opinion.

I don't think anyone is expecting this set to be done in Cherry font. Besides, even after the cherry font is completed, they are not opening the legends to group buys until they complete the Dolch set.
The feet dragging on the Cherry legends is just going to make someone else more motivated get it done in a reasonable time frame.
The fact that Sanctuary set has its own legends, and is already complete in a shorter time frame than the currently non-existent complete cherry legends speaks volumes.
I don't have any problem if we wait for cherry legends with SP or we wait for a GMK GB

Yes. Apparently you haven't kept up with either of those. Making a GB last that long, makes zero sense. You aren't going to get the cherry legends. Just run it the same as CCnG, RA2, etc legends. Patience or not, people do lose interest after a short time, and decide to put their dollars on something they can acquire sooner. That isn't a GB issue, that's just a human condition issue.
(who knows how long that will take tho)
When I started the interest check for this set November 10th I didn't know anything about GMK, and supposedly the Cherry legends have been going through prototyping and rumor was, would be ready around Jaunuary-February time frame. Now I guess with GMK on the scene with supposedly 300+ minimum order quantities there was more talk to just go ahead and get the Cherry legends through Signature Plastics complete. It should be possible if Sanctuary can get an entire set of new legends done in 2-3 months for us to get Cherry legends done in time when they have already started prototyping, AND a lot of them are already finished because of moogle kits.
If it is supposed to be by the community, for the community we should take off the breaks and get the money collected, and the legends finished.
I guess if it has to be WYSE font then so be it, but I think we can all agree that Cherry legends would simply look a heck of a lot better. Towards the end of January we can assess the situation again and consider ending early.
The legends will for sure be available for running GBs with, by anyone from any forum. We decided early on against making it more broadly available in say a font file or as raw SVGs, but it's possible that we should reconsider in light of GMK resuming Cherry 2-shot production.Are you sure this stipulation on dolch first, then free reign on the legends is in effect? I don't see why multiple group buys can't use it at the same time. No one previously has stated to not run a group buy because of another group buy. It's a gorgeous set and I'm just waiting for finalized colors before signing on the dotted line. I definitely want this set as bad as the rest of you, but I also want it to be DONE RIGHT. There's nothing worse than rushing an exciting set through to appease a bunch of impatient people only to find out there are flaws and mistakes that could have been caught if more time was taken for prototypes.

When I submit the order it will just be the key, and the profile only with the pictures as reference for general appearance.

6.2x is used with 1.25x mods on most normal boards today (Das, Ducky, Cooler Master, Corsair, Steelseries, Filco, Leopold!(except FC500), etc.) while 7x is normally used with 1.5x mods on custom boards and maybe some vintage ones.

I already cut the time in half ending it in the start of February instead of middle/end of March. The point of ending later was because people spent a lot of money around the holidays and extending it gives more people the opportunity to participate. Think about it, there are about 200 sets ordered with an expectation of seeing an invoice in Feb, and budgetting for that. You end and bill early and people will drop out, you slide back tiers and pay more. Nobody wins.

Also concerning the center stemmed caps lock, I think I will put the TOX on GX with the base kit, and the GX on TOX with the toxic modifier kit. That will only increase each set by around $2.50 depending on what tier the modifiers hit. Thanks to Shadovved for the suggestion.

I have had a couple requests for a compatibility kit for noppo choc mini keyboards and I know there is an interest check for a Klaxon version. Certain things they said they might consider around quantities of 300, but with an order like ours we have some items not even over 100 so it would probably not work. I seriously doubt the prices would be cheaper than Signature Plastics anyways. Not to mention international shipping and import fees, although my $800 of Lambda keys didn't have me paying any tax, a $12k-16k order of keycaps probably would.

I so want in on this.Yes. The Pure 1.75x shift comes in the winkeyless addon, which also includes a 1x key in the correct profile to replace "~`". If you want stepped caps lock for a pure you need the Center Stemmed caps lock kit.
A few questions before I order, For my Pure on top of the base set would I need both the modifier sets to enable me to have all the mods green on my board and have the caps stepped?

But what part of it is the actual sampling, cause obviously neither GH nor SP would want to get $500 worth of material to make a color no one likes. The $500 for a new color is just materials cost that SP would already be spending if we ordered something they stock. They won't get a new color, if they can't sell $500 worth of material right away. I'm sure the amount of material for this group buy will be in the thousands. I had a couple offers for people to send me the realforce lime color, if everyone likes that color we should just go with it and get SP the sample. I will get the address for where to send it, and search PMs and threads to see who offered and skip the sending to me part so it goes straight to SP.

Noob here don't want to step on toes, but I don't think you should start stripping keys out of the base kit. One of the many reasons I have signed up to buy one is that it comes with a lot of cool keys as opposed to just the standard base. I'm sure a lot of other people feel the same. You get options plus the exclusivity of having the toxic version of the key because you participated in the GB. This encourages GB participation which lowers costs and gets more cool keys out on the market.I wouldn't remove anything from any sets, but possibly in the right situation sell geekhack keys by themselves, or in another pack. I could bundle them with the iso keys to get them to the next tier :p j/k
Also it will no doubt that add more work for the GB organizers to make the GH keys a separate deal.
The plan as laid out in the OP looks good. I say stick with it since its what people signed up for. And yes I know I suggested adding a gamer pack earlier but if it adds cost and hassle then forget I said it.

My opinion is that you shouldn't offer the GEEK HACK keys outside of the base set. It has been done that way with MANY group buys already. For instance, if you wanted a pink and white GH key, you had to order the Valentines set. If you wanted a CCnG GH key, you had to purchase the CCnG base set. Makes them a little more prized, if that's the only way to obtain it.

The two colors are damn near identical. DanGWang's keycap color is a tad darker. Honestly I think it looks better than Topre's lime green color. Let me know if you need me to mail you a topre lime green key.

I think the lighter green may look better contrast wise on the dark grey.
And looking at the mock in the OP, the green there is quite a bit more yellow.

The key to the right of left shift should have [<> | /] that would make it fit most of the ISO layouts, but also include a row4 blank key.

Wow getting keys onto an ergo dox looks insane with all the odd sizes and things rotated 90 degrees. Looks like a nightmare to be honest :(

the la 1 + 1, la 1 +-1 should be the function keys if i am correct, la meaning layer, there are 4 layers with the ergodox 0,1,2,3. the GUI keys i believe are the windows keys
I mean, if think if we can just get blank toxic/grey 2x1 and 1 x 1.5(or is it 1.25?) key caps for the odd ones we will be happy, the legends for those keys wont matter too much. My line of thought is almost like a glow in the dark fluorescent colour.
375 is a bit too pure of a green. And I liked the dinge of CP because to me that is more toxic. Bright and cheerful doesn't seem toxic to me.
IIRC I used 381, 382 is the darker shade I put to add some perspective.
It still needs to be checked on a real Pantone, there is a risk of "overshooting" the colour if the decision is only based on the mockups

I've just checked my Pantone guides and 382 is nice. You might also want to check 389, little bit more punch to it. Obviously monitors and calibration are going to different, so if it helps, I can send you the guide pages if you want.
Regarding choosing between 382CP, 382U,382 UP etc...this refers to coated and uncoated paper. The actual ink formula is the same for all of them, uncoated paper simply absorbs the ink differently to coated paper which keeps the ink on top...coated is the glossy representation of that specific colour. So I would guess for the purposes of colouring plastics, we should be looking at C(oated) products only.

Hey Daniel,I think now that full 104 set pricing is known for GMK keys and it is near double what a 104 set would be from SP, I think Cherry legends will come around faster than before. It may be possible to add a small additional price to this set and cover the remainder that would be needed to pay for the remaining Cherry replica legends, and I think very few people would complain if this was indeed Cherry legends.
When will you have a better idea on if this is getting pushed back for font or anything else? Do you have a date where you would proceed without any waiting, even if they keep teasing you with the hope of your elusive font?

Signature Plastics' DCS profile. Very similar to Cherry profile, but not exactly the same. The biggest difference is the bottom row keys. But SP DCS is definitely lower than OEM profile.
Vortex font is not that great, their available colors are unknown, and their practices and communication have been pretty shady in the past. I still prefer to stick with Signature Plastics at this time.
So when aer we having the discussion about Cherry legends and colour choice?Still waiting for the sample color to arrive and sample keys at SP to be made. Once the color comes in we decide if we like it, or there may be an opportunity to do one more tweak which will add another 3+ weeks before money collection. I know that newer Cherry SVGs are being made but I don't know about timing. If choosing the color adds more time it just increases the chances to get Cherry legends. Most of the money for the legends is already collected, if we decided to chip in with this set it would only add roughly $1000 total spread across all sets or orders, which ever makes more sense.

Great colours.I think that's an optical illusion from caused by the curve of the keycap. just my $.02 though.
Looks like maybe the bubbles could be aligned better as well. To the left a tiny bit.
The beaker, to the left a bit, up a tiny bit, and turned clockwise slightly to be parallel with the bottom of the cap.

Looks too much like lime green to me. I like the yellowish green in the OP much better.

i think you have managed to get a color that looks green when it is near a yellow and look yellow when it is near a green.

It just seems like this GB is taking a while to get off the ground.Sanctuary started in mid July, was completely new legends, has just started shipping, and could have started shipping maybe even a month ago. Toxic started in mid December so we are nearing month 3, compared to Sanctuary which took 7 months. Things would move faster if those in charge of Cherry legends would accept freely offered assistance *shrug* I literally could have been making SVGs and helping in other ways since December or earlier.

Oh, man this set is looking gorgeous! Too bad there isn't an option for tsangan modifiers for the Pure. :(The 1.75x shift and 1x keys from the winkeyless options are also for Pure compatibility.
danielucf do you have me on ignore?Nope, just trying to brain storm a good way to add this into the group buy so that no one misses out on it. After getting to so many pages I'm thinking of another group buy for blanks and gamer packs, and maybe something else that would run concurrently with the main group buy, and billing/shipping would be combined and transparent. The idea being a new thread for it will catch peoples attention so no one gets left out. This is also when I could add in key packs for obscure board compatibility like the Race and ErgoDox (although blanks could satisfy that as well).
iirc, no spacebar will fit the choc mini. unfortunately, it has some unique size, 5.5units or sth like that, so a new mold would have to be made.Just saw this, if the noppo requires a 6x spacebar I think SP carries that, and it could possibly be an option. If it actually is 5.5x size then unfortunately we may be SOL.

Want to wait 6+ months for a production slot? Does GMK even have the colors?GMK does not have the colors, nor do they acquire custom colors upon request from what I've gathered from originative's dealings with them. That and Signature Plastics has been very helpful and I would prefer to work with them in the future since they are always accommodating and help support quirky group buys.

Please someone correct me if I am wrong, but this is what I have learned from this wonderful forum:
I'm pretty sure that the Poker uses standard ANSI key layout (1.25 mods, 6.25 spacebar) on the bottom row. I don't think you need a tsangan for it. So it would look like this:
Bottom row: 1.25 - 1.25 - 1.25 - 6.25 spacebar - 1.25 - 1.25 - 1.25 - 1.25
The Winkeyless Mods that come with the Toxic Base set should serve the same purpose that a tsangan add on would:
Bottom row: 1.5 - 1 - 1.5 - 7x space bar - 1.5 - 1 - 1.5
stepped off-center stemmed caps lock
The latter is usually only needed for some Cherry keyboards and Korean custom boards. Some people will also build the Phantom and GH60 to use the tsangan-style bottom row (myself included)
Bottom line is that all of the above keys look to be included in the Toxic Base Set, so you don't need anything extra unless you want the TOX color mods. The ones included with the base set look to be GX only

It might be prohibitively expensive to have the ISO Enter key be double shot with a legend. At least that is what Tsangan said during his CCnG GB. Well considering you could use one of the custom LED settings to light up just your TOX coloured keys like the toxic stripe, yeah it would look phenomenal.
Custom LED settings is one of the reasons I went with a Shine 2 White LED. So many options, and if I get sick of LEDs I can just leave them off.

So daniel, have you inquired with SP on how much it would be to do the Cherry legends for this group buy? I mean how much each person would have to pay. If this GB got Cherry legends sooo many people would jump on board. And we already have a lot.Most of the money is already collected, around 3/4 or so I believe. From my rough estimate if I only added what was left to cover the remaining costs into the base set maybe an extra $3.5-5 per set, and if I spread it across all sets then the net would be similar but each set wouldn't go up that much.

And I'm a bit confused on the 7 and 6.25 size of the bars. Where is this measurement, doesnt seem to be the lenght of the bar or the space between the posts.

We can't all read every single thread on the forum just to be prepared, and being ridiculed for asking questions most of us have wondered about at one point in our membership is not the way to welcome new people. Tym do you mean the GEEK HACK keycaps? If so, doesn't look like it. I would imagine that we would like to keep them in the base kit though. Maybe they could be added to the vendor kit or something for people that don't want all the keycaps in the base set *shrug*.

Easy solution.
Allow the purchase of extra caps to anyone with a full set. If you don't get a set you can't get the GH caps, but if you get one you can get up to say 5. The limit just being to stop purchasing large amounts just for resale.

At the moment we're waiting on legends so I don't think there's a definite invoice date. Probably will find out more info later on in the month I'd say.

I just want to be clear that Cherry legends are not a done deal for this set. danielucf and I did discuss the possibility of using this group buy to finish paying for the legends and having it be the first Cherry replica set, but we by no means came to a decision that that's what would happen.
After the first replica GB is over, the legends will be open to anyone who wants to use them.

Hello everyone, there's been some activity wrt Cherry legends, as you've probably noticed in other threads. i3oilermaker has been helping me polish and standardize the legends. The alpha and function SVGs are now ready to go. Boiler is working on finishing the number row now, and I'm on the tenkey and navcluster keys. Our goal is to have them all ready by the end of the week.
We currently have 83 legends left to cut for the standard 104 set. I have $3270 in my Paypal. So that leaves 83 x $45 - $3270 = $465 left to raise, at a bare minimum. We'll also need $300 to get a full proof set made, and probably a few recuts of individual keys. All in all I think $1000 will be enough to make this finally happen. There are a couple of funding efforts going currently, plus the Red Cherry GB extras which I will put up for sale shortly.
The plan is to get all the SVGs ready, then deliver them to SP in one batch for cutting. We'll get a single prototype set made for proofing and make any adjustments necessary. Then we'll be good to go for the first replica GB. After the first GB, I'll let Melissa know that anyone is free to use these legends. Including other forums, including vendors. I'll also post the SVGs at that point.
If it isn't too late I would be in for a base set! This would be my first group buy. This looks great!!

I've just purchased and received a Keycool 87 keyboard, and am interested and purchasing the Toxic Base Mod kit as well as the Winkeyless Toxic Mod kit. These keys will infact fit the board I own, or is there something I am missing?

the winkeyless set has 1.5x mods and a 7.x spacebar. I don't know for sure, but I would assume the iso kit mockup is accurate in terms of legends. IIRC a legended ISO enter mold would cost us like ~$3500.

I'm a complete noob but what for ducky shine 2 , ducky g2 pro and leopold fc700 what spacebar would it be ? Toxic 6.2 or 7?
The reason is that i currently have my BWU and i haven't yet bought ducky/leopold ( i'm interested) I wanted a black keyboard and white keycaps but there are none within Australia hence why im considering Leopold.
Also would the 2 Geekhack keys be bought seperately or within modifer set?

No they won't work. I have a 700R and tested the universal space bar. I promise you they don't fit. Like Halverson said, the stem spacing is off.

Once the first Cherry replica set is done collecting money we will move forward with this set. We don't want to step on the toes of the other set, but the beginning of 2013 had a TON of group buy action so people can make it work if they want to.
Couldn't we go ahead with this using the SP standard font and revisit it when the Cherry legends finally get done? The Raindrop set was made with the SP font and it looks beautiful to say the least. I'm sure there will be enough demand for the colour scheme if we change things up a little with the Cherry font version.
What would be even more awesome would be a updated mock up pics of these sets with Cherry fonts :P No pressure tho ~ hehehe. Not important. Just want to see it ~

We have some pretty interesting numbers. I'm going to have to see if we can get updated pricing because breaking 500 on the base set might actually mean a new tier. It all depends on lighting.
Those yellow Filco keycaps look anything from dirty brown to fluorescent yellow depending on lighting.
If they are half as good as the pictures in the OP then they will be well worth it :)

What would the chances of getting a set that works for the Kinesis Advantage and a ErgoDox? The vertical BS, Del, Enter, Space 2X are the hard ones.
Edit: Actually looks like everything would be covered with ordering several sets except BS and Space but those could be replaced by blanks. Is there any 2X blanks planned?

I have a ducky shine 2, I utalise the lighting on it as I tend to game in the dark.
Would the leds bleed thru to illiluminate the keys I want?

The winkeyless modifier set has only 2 1x1 keys with the symbols, so if I need 3 of them for my keyboard I have to order 2 of them? Is there a chance to get these keys alone and most important also in GX color without ordering a second base kit?

Originally we were going to do a "`~" key in the lower profile to go to the right of the 1.75x shift key for the KBT Pure layout. I will probably either leave it blank unless people really want it, or put a different legend on it. There will also be blanks available in all profiles since it shouldn't be hard to get a good tier on blanks.

On a standard keyboard, the stem (the bit that fits over the switch) is in the middle of the Caps Lock key.
A stepped Caps Lock usually has the stem offset to the left.
A centre-stemmed Caps Lock has the stem in the middle to fit modern keyboards.
BTW in case anyone didn't realise, the stepped Caps Lock was invented to provide a lower edge to the Caps Lock key next to the A key, to try to reduce the number of instances of people accidentally hitting Caps Lock when aiming for A.

Here are the basics:
For years the Signiture Plastics standard font was used for group buys on Geekhack. Many people prefer the classic font from the vintage Cherry Keyboards. So money was collected to recreate this font. This project was finished recently and there will be a GB soon. After this GB is done we can use the Cherry font for the Toxic GB, so it will be a couple of months until invoices can go out.

Got a leopold 10 keyless from a mate that I've been itching to tart up. And... just ordered a 21 key leopold numpad (HOTAS for excel essentially, HA!) the work machine is going to look so hot.
PS: for clarity, I need the 6.2 universal space for my Leopold correct? How does that work anyway? do the stab. mounts not have vertical spacers? what's the effect there in practice?

Leopold uses 6.5 spacebar. It has some weird mounts on it, not sure that the spacebar will work.

Yea, I saw it there. The modifiers kit says it has 34 keys, yet I only count 33 in the picture, so maybe a stepped caps lock is the missing key? Or is the 34 just a typo?

I think the backlighting looks kinda bad tbh. Keycaps are too thin and too much light shines through. And the orange here still looks darker than it does in person.
Again, this is just the proof set; the colors the GB will use are still up in the air.

Daniel said he wants to stick to Signature Plastics because they are more flexible and can do custom legends (GH keys, chemistry keys).
Furthermore he thinks it wouldn't be fair to SP to make all these "negotiations" and then not do business.
One can argue that SP didn't really lose money in this and it's simply a GB that didn't go trough, but after all it's Dan's decision.

Yes, I would strongly prefer GMK keys, but I'll take a SP set if it's the only option ;)

Massdrop it! I seriously think we need to give it a crack for just one GMK group buy, they have big mailing list already and their payment system is set up and ready to go.
We could also potentially use GMK for the set, and our custom keys could come from SP. The only issue with that is selling enough to meet Signature Plastics minimum amount of plastic required for a new color.

I agree with your point concerning business ethics. But that's why Dan proposed to do all the special keys with SP so they can use the color. The base set could be done by GMK.
But it's actually not even worth discussing before we know whether GMK would actually do these colors. And even if they could we will still have to get more than 400 orders with the higher prices...

There is no money for a new color. They got a small bit of sample color and they will only get a new color if the order is large enough to consume it all.
For example if I was going to get some black caps made SP would have to buy the material to make my caps. If the order was large enough it makes no difference if they are buying black or a new color because the materials cost the same no matter what. At least that is my understanding from conversations with Melissa at SP.
At the moment SP has groupbuy after groupbuy pouring in but most of them are only in quantities of 75-200. Since we reached such a high number of "orders" or interest in this groupbuy we should seize the opportunity to hit the MOQ at GMK IF they can get our custom color which would match SPs because I gave them a Pantone number, and we'll still get a ton of extras from Signature plastics as well (vendor set, center-stemmed stepped caps lock, 8x and 10x spacebars in both colors, toxic bubbles and beaker mod keys, and blanks in both colors in case someone wants to make their own otaku set.
So far all that has happened is I've given SP $90 out of my pocket for two new caps

Probably going to combine the numpad with the base kit, and the winkeyless kit with the modifiers. Appropriately colored ISO keys will be with the correct colored sets. Still trying to decide if the color accent stripe from the base kit will get added with the modifiers to save on duplicate keys. GMK rep got back with me, here are the essentials of what he said:
They can't work with Pantone colors but he suggested RAL 1016 Sulfur yellow which is kind of off from our color.
If that color is fine with us (we can probably get SP to use the same color) it may be possible to get the custom color MOQ from 1000 down to 600 :-\
I'm not enthused about the color. If you look up images of "RAL 1016" on google some of them look good and similar to what SP made, and others look closer to a regular yellow.

I think seeing the plastic color in person would really be necessary to make a judgement. Even best if you can just find out the plastic supplier so BOTH can get the same granulate.

These are still for order, and will be until the first Cherry replica GB has moved forward.
There was some talk about going with GMK for this, but they can only do the standard layout, and colour would not match with SP's custom keycaps.
There was also talk about having everyone resubmit their orders in case people who ordered a year ago have changed their mind or simply disappeared.
We don't want to hold up the payment phase too much ...
At the moment I am going to get one of the sample keys and send it to GMK for them to try and color match. It is looking very likely that we may handle payment and shipping through mass drop because this group buy got WAY bigger than I anticipated and I don't want to move $50-60k+ through my bank account.

We used to be only paying maybe around 15-20% markup on 110 key Cherry sets at Originative but the Dolch and other buys are looking like much higher premiums are being charged. With MassDrop it is only 15% and shipping costs are much cheaper because they have a deal. The gentleman at MassDrop I spoke with said they love the keyboard enthusiast community since we are so patient with group buys and pretty quick to pull the trigger on what we want. I think we would also be able to give everyone 3-4 weeks to be able to participate instead of the normal 7-14 days that most MassDrops have ordering open for.
If this doesn't happen through GMK then my next group buy will be with GMK through Mass Drop.

Missing keys would be my biggest concern with massdrop. If doing a buy like we normally do through massdrop who sorts the keysets??

I don't think MOQ was an issue with this GB anyway.
It was unofficially voted to go with Cherry legends, so the GB was extended until the Cherry replica project was completed and the first sample set released (which is still in progress).
While all that was happening, GMK was "rediscovered", and suggested as an alternative manufacturer.
Then someone suggested MassDrop.
If we'd gone with SP and their usual legends, this would have been done with and finished at least a year ago.

If using massdrop we should be sure not to let them use UPS Mail Innovations. They used that for one of mine and it took over a month for the item to come after being marked "shipped"
Now that SP has launched their group buy tool (pimpmykeyboard), would you consider using that for the buy instead of using Massdrop? (Granted, it might be good to wait for a GB or two to finish while using it to see how well it works out)

From what I've read daniel is weighing options of SP vs GMK and possibly using massdrop and I'm sure looking at SP's new group buy system as well. But from his recent posts he has been swamped with real life so this is probably not a priority.

It isn't for sale yet. When it finally goes to production there will be an update here, but don't hold your breath.

I am currently trying to work with MassDrop and GMK for this group buy. If that falls through we will use Cherry replica legends from Signature Plastics.

Sorry we couldn't make things work with GMK, getting them to color match seemed difficult and time consuming, but in the future we might be able to make something work. The order/payment/shipping infrastructure of ctrl alt store will be best for all who participate within and without the USA. Plus I don't want to wait anymore and I want everyone to get Toxic keys in their hands as soon as possible.

we are adding some niceties to the set that come as standard with ctrl alt buys as well as some other keys and layout related stuff, ill get some new mockups to people asap and once they are locked in, the buy will go up

Center stemmed stepped capslock was in the first iteration of the buy, and should also be in the ctrl alt store version as well I imagine.
It might not hurt things too bad to have two extra sets of mods or even combine them into one 7-bit mod set but the main idea of this set was to use Cherry legends. What would need to be done? Both shifts, enter, backspace, capslock, and tab? Nav cluster as well will add a good chunk more keys which isn't very exciting for those trying to keep it cheap. Also we are going to try and have an 1800 compatibility add-on so all the keys can be the correct profile.

itll be very interesting to see how this set is at the end of ordering, however i expect the 600 sets ordered to be a significant percentage lower, my gut says 150 - 250 sets will be sold, but i could be very surprised
that isnt taking anything away from the buy, i just think the buy has been up so long, so many people wwill have come and gone, and lots more will cancel or have changed there tastes etc, we shall see

I prefer full featured sets just to be safe for every layout, but I think keeping prices low should be a major concern to maintain most of the orders.
The problem with separated mini kits is that they are pretty expensive because they only attract a very small number of people who need these special keys.
Therefore I think you should offer one main set for a fullsize keyboard (104 key) and 1-2 huge extra sets like "Mod Pack" and "Novelty Pack". This way we can use the buying power the best I think.
The Mod Pack could contain Tsangan, ISO, Ergodox, HHKB support etc. I am only interested in the ISO Pack which historically is ~25$ for 4 keys because only ~20 people order it, but I would gladly pay ~50$ for the huge Mod Pack that includes the ISO keys and all the extra stuff just because ~150 people chip in and help each other reach better prices.

I agree with LechnerDE. Additionally, a spacebar pack that includes 6.25x and 7x spacebars would be great. (And would, I think, get tons of orders even though it's a small pack because everyone wants extra spacebars.)
i have actually ordered extra spacebars with nostalgia, penumbra and raindrop, which ive included at no extra cost with those sets
however on that note, this buy will actually have other options for spacebars as well, im working out how to include those now or offer them as a separate pack at the moment

ill lay out my plan a bit more
so i think the way to do it to keep the cost down will be this
offer, alphas, 2 mod kits, 2 tsangan, 1 numpad with both colors, 1 iso with boths colors, but have all those ktis stripped just to the minimum
on the iso note, we will be offering it with full legends, and ill make it cheaper and this time so its in line with the other prices and build that in my end
then
offer 1 large pack for all the niceties, so if people want fully featured, its just 1 big addon, but for people that literally jsut want a tenkeyless set with no extra keys, thats what they get with base and mods for instance

Yep I'm with him. You've run so many Group Buys by now Bunny that you should get a feeling for what's popular around here on Geekhack. I love having the option of a COMPLETE pack with all the goodies and then the plain ones which suit the smaller budgets.
I suspect you may even have to drop the Complete Packs due to little interest (maybe due to cost) and the smaller packs will end up going to SP for manufacture. I hope that doesn't happen because the BIG packs have all the custom keys that hold real interest and value over time.

We don't know this yet. There are so many potential problems in a GB that I am glad a guy like Bunny silently solves them for me in the background and I get my complete set after a reasonable amount of time.
What happens if there is a ****ed up legend like on the ISO Enter Key in the Nostalgia GB? Whap happens if there are missing keycaps? Will SP replace them and make new Enter keys with no extra costs just like Bunny did?
I won't even save money without having Bunny as a middle man, because I am looking at 20% extra import taxes if I get direct shipments from SP (the real value of the caps will be declared on the box!).

After the group buy goes into production it shouldn't be to difficult to get blanks from SP. That or just host your own group buy through SP for a Toxic Edox set.

Yup a lot of WYSE terminal boards use them. I have bought 3 at local erecyclers for $3 each. I didn't realize that SP had a space bar mold that size though. I thought just 8, 9, and 10 for the bigger ones.

Is anyone really planning on putting this on a WYSE board? I don't think there are enough keys in the compatibility packs even to fill out the rest of any WYSE terminal board. Even the most normal one (WYSE PCE 840358-01) has a messed up bottom row with 2.5x control keys that require stabilizers, but that one does use 8x space bar.
However, there are several GH60 plates that will accept a 10x spacebar. I am also interested in getting 10x capability added to future Phantom plates. May I humbly suggest that if you are going to include 9.75x (and 8x for that matter) for keyboards that barely anyone is using, can we also get a 10x? Pretty please?The 1800 profile keys I asked about a few posts above, I don't think that's a huge deal either, but I thought I had seen it discussed earlier in this thread. I would suggest that there are a lot more 1800 users out there than there are WYSE users. You could add it as a separate kit for those 1800 specific keys, include both colors in the kit (like ISO), and I don't think it would detract from sales of the other kits.

Which board uses a 9.75x spacebar? I have seen a board with a 10x spacebar but never this one.
i think a bunch of wyse boards do, im not entirely sure it was a special request
Is anyone really planning on putting this on a WYSE board? I don't think there are enough keys in the compatibility packs even to fill out the rest of any WYSE terminal board. Even the most normal one (WYSE PCE 840358-01) has a messed up bottom row with 2.5x control keys that require stabilizers, but that one does use 8x space bar.
However, there are several GH60 plates that will accept a 10x spacebar. I am also interested in getting 10x capability added to future Phantom plates. May I humbly suggest that if you are going to include 9.75x (and 8x for that matter) for keyboards that barely anyone is using, can we also get a 10x? Pretty please?The 1800 profile keys I asked about a few posts above, I don't think that's a huge deal either, but I thought I had seen it discussed earlier in this thread. I would suggest that there are a lot more 1800 users out there than there are WYSE users. You could add it as a separate kit for those 1800 specific keys, include both colors in the kit (like ISO), and I don't think it would detract from sales of the other kits.

No blanks and a non-standard color (so I can't get blanks directly from SP), that means no toxic set for keyboards with extended or non-standard layouts. Or am I missing something?

I would be willing to bet that blanks will be available after the GB. I believe SP might actually have this as a standard color after the buy as well. I would send SP an email on this. Blanks from them aren't that bad priced though.

One question about the ISO kit:
Will the left shift key have just the symbol without text? Feng is offering a left ISO shift key with symbol + text in his current GMK GBShow Image(http://geekhack.org/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=54442.0;attach=54316;image)
In my opinion it looks better if the left and right ISO Shift have the same style (either text on both or only symbols on both).
Not a dealbreaker though, I am just curious :)

Therefore the solution for consistency would be a second right shift key with just the arrow (like Ivan's GMK Mod sets).

really though, its not just that, its then fixing every other mod so it have a symbol only design as well
lots of thought and planning goes into these sets, and the legends and how we build up the kits and such, and if you go through lll the buys we have done we are constantly tinkering and refining things
cost is not the important thing to me, its getting things right, or how i think they are right, with nostalgia for instance, that buy cost me personally a ton of money, A LOT of legends needed to be cut for that buy, like a ton, and it was a very niche buy with very low sales, but i was happy to put a lot of personal funds into it because it was a set i wanted and i wanted it to be right
toxic means a lot to a lot of people, and i want to keep as many people as happy as possible, no matter what we do with this buy, there will be controversy, and people wanting it different because people are attached to it and the concept of it, and everyone has different ideas of what "it" is
i will do my best to make as many people happy as i can though, as i always try to do with these buys

If you look at the picture I linked from Feng's current GMK GB he is going to offer an ISO left shift key with Arrow + text.

His use of old style Windows Logo is okay and much needed, because I'm happy with it :thumb: . No need for the foul logos of Win 8 and Win 7 (even though I am currently using both versions).
Sometimes you need to keep the unique older logos for the greater good here and quieten down a bit. Thus far what he has proposed is good enough for manufacture as is and I'm happy to put down money on this as soon as possible. Plus the fact that Bunny is running this whole show here you lot have nothing to worry about because it will come out superb from SP, just the way it should.

I have a **** ton of MDPC toxic green sleeving I would be willing to donate to this GB if raccoon wants to make cables. I was going to sleeve a psu a while back and never did. I don't know how many feet exactly but looking at the invoice I bought a dumping pack, which is 100 meters, and probably only used a few meters or so. my feeling is, if we added the word shift to that, its gonna be too cramped, and i think it would look worse if we resized the symbol to fit the lettering in, so the symbols were then different sizes

I don't think the problem is that not enough people would order it, but that (for the most part) every order for reversed alphas takes away an order for standard alphas, increasing the cost of that set.
i dont know what is happening with the color once we are done, assuming its put into there colour range, i cant see any reason why that wouldnt be possible

Bunny if SA isn't your thing (for gawd sake why it isn't I will never know) then you should go for DSA. Remember that baby will fit on just about every keyboard that was ever made or anything currently shipped out of factories today.
Just don't go wasting time and money making another DCS profiled piece of boredom. We need more DSA love but ultimately the SA is still the sexiest key-set to ever grace any keyboard. Funny how you said the SA profile is so tight on your keyboard, I just lube my SA's and slip them on with no real problems. I suspect you never tried lube before in your life. If you have a large device always use lube because it just makes things easier on you and the recipient :thumb: .

Yeah I know it's DCS and Cherry legends. I was just saying that a DSA Toxic set would look good also.
Elrick, to get Cherry replica legends on DSA profile caps would require another $5000 or so for tooling new legends, as the ones that were funded by Geekhack were only for that one profile (DCS). At least this is my understanding. Same applies for SA profile.
While I personally love SA profile, I actually really like DCS, and can hardly abide DSA.

Well, because the profile is the same for all rows, it's sometimes my only choice for custom layouts, like my little 40% design.
But given the correct cap sizes for the layout, I'd literally take almost any other profile, because they are so FLAT. There is no contour for the comfort of your fingers and ease of typing. You reach for a key, and your finger has to travel further to find it.

I know it's a moot point now but, I'm sure some people would have liked the win 7 logo as well. I don't see anything "foul" about it and kind of a big assumption to say there is no interest. I mean if someone requests windows 8 surely win7 has some love too ;D . Everyone has their own preference, yours is clearly the old style, but that just looks out of place in my eyes. Nothing personally against the logo, I just like the win 7 one more.

We can only get a shot at the toxic bros by purchasing at least one TKL toxic set through the Ctrl Alt Store when they post the GB? Yea, that came out way nicer than I meant it to sound, I tried to dissuade him from even ordering it a couple lines up. All I meant was that if he went through with his order just for the bots, like I'm sure some people will let's face it, then Bunny is the kind of person who will probably give a refund if someone asks for it. Is it scummy, absolutely and I hate everything about it but, I just can't see Bunny refusing someone a refund.

basically the quote i have been given on 2 of the kits, its totally insane, like im literally gonna have to sell them at a loss right now if they dont change to give people a reasonable price, every other kit is inline with original quotes ore or less or what we expected, but 2 of them have come back weird, like total anomalies, i have done many buys now so i just know what the figures should be, and these are wrong, they said they will get back to me today with revisions, if they come back what they should be, there is every chance ill be able to get 40% in somewhere, but if they dont, im just gonna have to charge what i think is right for the 2 oddly priced kits, and make that lost money up elsewhere
from the beginning of taking this on, i knew getting the prices right was a big deal, and the kits are set in such a way to make the cost of the set as low as possible if people wanted that, but also offer a feature full kit for people who wanna spend a little extra
this will happen no matter what, but i also like to add keys after the fact, and if we cant wrestle down the quote on 2 of the kits, its gonna be very very hard to add much, hopefully i will get good news later today

I love this set already so bros are a huge bonus if I score them (broless atm) but I want the set with or without them.
Even if I dont grab a set I would be happy to donate to help cover the cost, This set wouldnt be getting made if bunny had not stepped in. So its only fair that I throw some change at him/her :D

I'm not going to bother staying awake in an attempt to get anything, I recall once when I stayed awake for a CC sale, so stupid of me, wasted so long awake to no avail.The fun part is the waking up, trying to submit your order while in daze and then go to sleep only to be happy/disappointed when you finally wake. But, well, it's fun you know. We need something to look forward to once a whole in our lives. Kinda sad to say this now that I re-read what I wrote.
