The ETA of GMK Modern Ink is set around Q4 of 2022. With it using the same colors as GMK Sumi, the color matching process will be quicker (if Sumis color matching is completed until then).

Curious, how hard is it to see the blue tint to ral5004? Do you really need to look for it, like hold it up to the light? Or is it more like a dark navy that obviously isn't black?

Once we approve the color samples for GMK Sumi I can demonstrate the darkness of the ral5004 the best. If you take a look at, for instance, the RAL K7 color picker, you can see that it's a really dark navy. Almost black but with a hint of blue.

Love the idea of clean design, and no english. Speaking of which, the "no english" kit would have been awesome. Right now it requires to buy 3 kits (base+mono+novelties) at $238 total. Is it too late to consider?

I think we seem to have reached a kind of saturation in the hobby, particularly when it comes to high-end sets with delivery timelines of over one year. When I discovered this community over a year ago, there was no real choice but to get in line and buy into GMK GBs (none of which have delivered to this date). With lots of budget keycap newcomers backed by big names (such as NicePBT by Cannonkeys), people only join group buys they are extremely excited about. My order for this set was to the amount of 285 Euros (or 335 USD) for Base, Novelties and International (incl. VAT). It feels like newcomers are nowadays choosing the cheaper sets they get quickly. Those that have been around or are taking a deep dive in right away are already in many buys. They are waiting on many sets so that they're spread thin.

Long story short, I really hope this makes it across the finish line with all kits intact - but overall, there is a lesson to learn here for the community - or, more exactly, the industry.

Also: Tell CandyKeys to finally feature this set on the front page. What do they want with that GMMK for cryin out loud!

I am in this camp sadly.
I really like this set, but with the current GMK waiting times and also the fact that I got "similarish" sets already, I can't justify taking the plunge for a GMK set atm unless it trully speaks to me and I consider it a 10/10.

I will try my luck on extras in 2 years, and I really hope the final numbers are good.

You are absolutely right about the hobby being well saturated.
I can understand why people are afraid to buy any GMK sets as of right now, the circumstances aren't ideal. With that in mind, most of my upcoming sets won't feature GMK as a manufacturer.
I'll take this as a good insight to the current market situation and will try to improve on the things that may be lacking or simply didn't go as planned. We can only improve from now on.

Still looking forward to the end of this GB and I hope that we will see this set being made.

I'm only speaking for myself, but as much as I love this set, I have no interest in shelling out $200 (base+novelties) for something I know I will not receive for a minimum of 1 year. I dunno where I'll be at that time, nor will I know if I'll still be interested in this hobby. It's not even a matter of price really. I'd much rather pay $300 if it mean I'll receive it within the week. Regardless, this hobby is not in a good place. When nothing you've purchased is in hand for a over a year, its hard to contextualize how much you've spent.

When it comes to manufacturers like GMK the wait times are so ridiculous, the only way you can get a set in a reasonable time is to buy an aftermarket set for 3+ times the price or buy a set from Drop. At this point we need others companies to do a similar deal with that they have with Drop but ideally still take ideas for the set from the community too to cut down on the delivery times since they can order large quantities compared to a GB. I've personally gotten into around 10 keycap GBs and only 2 have arrived, 1 is about to arrive and the rest are still in production limbo, it can get infuriating but that's when you say enough is enough and don't get into more GBs before the others are fulfilled.

Exactly, you're just throwing money into the void hoping something will come out at the other end within a reasonable time. Lol I have noticed more designers moving their sets to other manufacturers, but even they seem to be getting bogged down because of the plastic shortage.

I feel it will get bought out. Many other recent GMK sets that were struggling either had the "all kits will be made" treatment or something similar.
I guess refunding a couple hundred orders is more complicated than buying out 50% of the remaining MOQ for vendors.

But I wanted to say I very much respect you for posting numbers, so many other GB runners will just vanish from their own thread if numbers are bad or best case will just write "all kits will be made" but everybody knows what that means.

I still really wish this set would have been ePBT.

I would be carefully optimistic. Candykeys has updated their numbers and it looked decent, even though not even base kit hit MOQ. But it was relatively close.
