About the Plate

• 1,5mm aluminum plate, optimized for rigidity and sound
• Optional 1,5mm sandblasted polished brass plate, now with a super shiny mirror finish

Supports for double backspace and stepped capslock
Supports most of 65% PCBs

Color will be chosen via IC form between 6 shades, carefully picked to get the best anodization results
Expected RRP will range between 230 and 260€ cheaper, at 190€ - 230€!

Optional Pizza Keyboards custom-designed Premium PCB, Made by Coarse:

• HASL-Lead free finish in matte black
• ESD Protection
• Overcurrent and Overvoltage protection
• Powerful STM32 F072 Microcontroller

Thank you very much! Yes, the expected 230-270€ RRP doesn't include the PCB: our case is compatible with most 65% PCBs, but we can offer our premium version as well as an add-on. The plate, which aims to mantain the best rigidity while typing supports the shown layout and double backspace / stepped capslock

For what i can tell by prototype the board feels really good, the weight with the aluminum plate is around 1,5/1,6 kg more with the brass plate

The starting price, expected between 230 - 270€, will include the case and the aluminum plate. PCB will be sold separately for around 60€, same for the the handmade brass plate upgrade. Please consider that the case is made and anodized in Italy by small manufacturers and the PCB has some premium features like the lead-free finish, STM32 and protections. We will try hard to bring the best quality / money ratio in production lowering prices as much as possible

UPDATE 1: ISO COMPATIBILITY
After tons of requests we are officially adding an ISO compatible plate. This is now asked in the form just for some basic statistics, if you already filled out don’t worry about it. We fastly prototyped a double-compatible plate but we didn’t like the feeling at all, so we just decided to bring two versions. Hope you like it and thanks for the massive love you showed us!

The prototype will arrive on Tuesday, get ready because we will show you the changes made following your suggestions! 
There will also be a typing test for anyone wondering what the keyboard will sound like.
As for the start of the GB we are finalizing the last bureaucratic things, we hope to leave by mid October.
Keep in mind that we don't want to do the usual group buy where to get the product you have to wait years, producing our keyboard mainly in Italy allows us to be much faster with manufacturing and packaging.

I like the logo, but it seems a little basic to me, for something with such a fun name. Personally, I would have gone with a single pizza slice in a corner, with the rounded crust facing the edge. You do you though! Better than some gaudy design etched into immortality in the back weight.

The keeb will support the stepped capslock and the double backspace, as mentioned above, for the support of VIA we are working on it.

As long as the PCB is QMK-compatible, VIA support is still possible even if it isn't plug-and-play; just a matter of flashing a 65% firmware with some special config options set. If I'm off-base someone should correct me haha

I'm not really a linear type but I have to say these sound great!

Here is a preview render of our now Pizza65 Brass Plate. We decided do ditch the sandblasted and go with a polished, mirror finish that we think looks amazing. Graphite, Gentiana Blue and Pearl Ruby are actually winning in the form and the color combinations with this shiny brass are just fantastic. We are still fixing the last things and we should be able to post some photos and a brass typing test of our last prototype in a few days.
We are also very happy to announce that we will be able to bring PCB, brass plate and the Pizza65 itself at a better price than what we first expected. IC participation has passed any expectations, only a few days remains before the group buy starts and we are doing the best to optimize everything in both production and sales so we can offer a great product at a small price.

We tested the kbd67 rev. 2 and the DZ65, our pcb has the same footprint as the kbd67V.2 so it is compatible too.
When the GB starts we will release the measures in order to verify their compatibility with all the others, but as long as it has the USB on the left it should be compatible.

I'm sorry but Pizza65 PCB will be solderable only for now. We don't exclude to be able to release an hot-swap PCB or an hot-swap sockets compatible PCB in the future. However we expect TE Holtite Sockets to be compatible with our solderable PCB and we will be testing it in the near future before the group buy starts.

What do you think of this new finish for the plate?

Honestly, it looks really good. However, I'm sure that the only time it will look that good is when you first open the box; after that, whether it's building the board or regular usage, dust, hair, fingerprints, etc will get on the plate and dirty up the finish. Definitely admire the effort and the design, but as an owner of a Husky who routinely has to blow out flying dog har out of his keyboard, the polished finish doesn't really do it for me.

I have a question with respect to pricing. When buying extras or the kit without PCB, the premium for brass (or ISO, as this forces me to but brass) is 35 EUR, but in the kit with PCB, the brass premium is 40 EUR. Would be nice if you correct this before this goes to GB.

Some more videos are work in progress, with both different switches and plates (mainly brass), they will come in a few days!
We are sorry but as you already imagined aluminum plate is ANSI only for now... and we choosed top-mount because we wanted to mantain decent prices while still producing in Germany. We are very pleased on how sound turned out after some tweaking  and we really think top-mount rapresents a solid choice, should be more considered by case maker in our opinion

The second, bigger Pizza65 batch will still come pretty soon in january/february. All the important things to know like quantities and eventually limitations will be specified on the preorder page. We basicallly had everything ready before publishing the IC, in the latest month we used our time to build our own group buy platform and  fix the last things in the prototypes, so we are more than ready for production, even if the growing interest in Pizza65 surprised us all and we really thank you for that. The only major issue about our fast production and shipping expectation could be COVID-19 limitations in Europe.

Really excited for this one, and probably smart to give yourselves a bit of headroom and not overpromise, because regardless of having everything signed up, the three colors and matching top and bottom still sound like quite a bit of QC work. I will try to be in for round 1, but if it only comes a bit later next year (I mean, we see what’s happening with Covid right now), then I’ll still be happy with it. Unfortunately the DZ65 having a fixed layout is not supported by our Pizza65, We are and we have tried some 65% pcb to be able to directly guarantee us the full compatibility, like the kbd67 Rev. 2 that works perfectly.
A general rule of thumb to see if the pcb you are going to get can work is that it must have the usb on the left side and it have to supports our same layout.

The pcb we already tested and which is 100% compatible with our Pizza65 is the Kbd67 Rev.2, even if the USB port will be a bit more hidden inside the keeb than our custom PizzaPCB we designed the USB hole on the case to be compatible and let the cable pass through, and we are pretty sure Kbd67 V.2, wich is supporting the same layout, is compatible too, we are gonna test it in the future. At the moment we have not made any red prototypes  because as we decided at the beginning of the IC the colors we will produce are the first 3 classified colors of the interest check and recently the red was fighting with the green.
Of course we will make another prototype in red and post some photos as soon as we receive it

Our pcb supports split shift (1.25, 1u), ISO Enter, Split Backspace and Stepped Capslock.

oh, yes we misunderstoo each other I think, if those layout are for both the plate and the pcb then in the ISO configuration the left shift is split (< to the right of the left shift in the italian keymap) , so the full ISO layout is supported! if that image was available somewhere I completely missed it, but it is really useful.

KBD67 V2 is tested and perfectly working, but i OOS right now. Cannonkeys Instant65 share the same layout so it’s very likely to be compatible too but we are waiting it to test it, same for MillMax sockets
