Currently using an RF 87u 55g purchased from Tsukumo in Tokyo a few days ago.
Wow it is quite a bit heavier than I expected it would be.
HHKB BT is on the sidelines for now.

Also, picked up some Tamiya grease and brushes to fix my rattling HHKB spacebar & re-lube all stabilizers.
First time redoing the stabilizer grease in 5 years.
It is now back in buttery smooth thock heaven.

I'm back onto my Ducky Mini YOTH. Whites are so fun to type on... But I guess check back in a week to see if I still feel that way lol.
Can we get them to build the Alps ten feet higher and get Cherry to pay for it?

Typing on some old browns, absolutely no scratchiness at all. I really like them but want to try out some vintage blacks.

My favorite vintage to use as a daily driver. NKRO and ANSI make it great for gaming, though I haven't gamed much lately!

What did you do to the Browns to get them that way, and what board are you using them with?  My old K70 had Browns and it was anything but smooth.

I had some browns harvested from a NiB g80-11801 and put them in my TGR-Jane. I added Gateron clear tops as well and it made them the slightest bit smoother.

For an easier and likely cheaper time, I'd recommend trying to find Acer boards with ANSI layouts--sometimes they are PBT. I think the font is rather standard looking and not way different like the SGI Granite.

A possible up or downside is that the mods are a light grey and not a beige like the AT101's caps. Still, beats paying out the ass for an OG AT101, since even the old logo black Alps (which don't have the thick caps) models go for a ton on eBay.

Yeah, if I see one of the old Acers I will consider it. I just prefer the look of the AT101 caps (dat beige) better.

Word. I definitely agree with you there. It's a shame there aren't more alternatives. WHERE DID ALL THE OLD ALPS CAPS PRODUCING EQUIPMENT GO?

We have GMK and BSP for Cherry (and Gateron and JTK too), but it seems like the OG Alps stuff has been lost.

Switched back to my HHKB.

I've missed it.

PS. "switched back" - that was a pune.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Japanese alphas on KUL ES-87 with purple Zealios (62g alpha/mods, 65g F-s and nav):

I can't quite decide how I want to have them set up. I have a full blank PBT set in black, dark grey, and off-white+light grey (one set). They're all from the same batch so they match up and the PBT4 from Ivan Japanese set matches up with them very well.

This is how I have it for now but I might end up changing them. I also really liked having the KUL with blank light-grey modifiers and nav, dark grey F-keys, and black escape. I should have taken a photo.

I love those alphas, what are they from? They work really well with the dark gray mods.

Lubed and stickered ergo-clear Filco TKL. Honestly I haven't even had the inkling to use any of my other 6 boards since this one was finished. Dat grail.

Filco's with clears exist? Never saw them around.

They exist, but I don't know of any Filcos that came stock with clears.

Thanks, they're from Ivan's PBT4 group buy, the Japanese set.

Thanks! It's a little harsher in the photos (which are straight from the camera) as I was using the flash. I have a bounce-flash card so it doesn't totally wash it out but it still whitens things up.

The keys are an off-white / light beige while the KUL case is white.

I really like these blanks, I just love how simple they are. How hard will it be to pick up a full Japanese set do you think?
