I've been collecting Clacks because I really just love how they look.  I'm really into visual aesthetics design type stuff, so I get a lot of enjoyment out of adding them to my boards for some very cool flair.  Plus they're just damned fun to collect.  :))

My guess is that they will probably drop in market value over time as people forget and lose interest in them, and/or CC or others introduce great caps (like Bro/KBK/Binge/Nubb/etc) that people will love.  Oh, and 3D printing will be more prevalant such that people can make whatever designs they want.  But that'll be ok for me, since that's not what I've been getting them for.  They'll last forever, and as long there are boards being made that I can put them on, I'll be happy. :)

And just curious... does anyone know how many Mr. Fridays are floating around?  From searching around, there were three (1x MX, 1x Topre, 1x BS) from CC's Green Sale in Apr 2013, and another Topre prototype (with some entertaining drama for that one...) during 2013 as well?  However, I found older posts where people were selling/trading them, so I'm guessing there was an initial run of earlier ones back in 2011 or so?

I doubt I'll get a clack any time soon. So for now I'll lust at other peoples.

Plus If I had the money for the mark up on clacks there would be no reason why I don't have my HHKB yet :P

Awesome.  I love the Poker II.  I like Topre a lot better than Browns, but I still love pretty LEDs and playing with custom keysets.

Wouldn't continuous sales of Clacks limit the counterfeit problem? The reason the counterfeits exist is because the originals are high in demand, due to their rarity, in the after-market. So if you say, "to hell with it", and just run continuous sales of originals, people won't have a reason to counterfeit anymore.

Unless, there are logistical reasons for not being able to do continuous sales, of course.

clickclack doesn't operate an actual factory :p

Right... I always remembered it was him doing everything personally, but what's that to stop him from producing/selling clacks continuously?

I don't mean this in a disrespectful manner, of course. It's a sincere question, and I'm just trying to get an open discussion going on how to battle the counterfeits.

I believe it is because he has a full time job and has a family to take care of. So that takes away a lot of his free time to do clacks.

Honestly, if CC even holds a few sales a year I'm just happy to just have had a chance at them. That GH 4grabs hype is intense when it rolls into town, boy I tell you what.

I have never experienced a 4grabs yet in my GH time span. I hope to though.

So, I picked up a Leopold FC660C with the otaku keyset from EK, and now I desperately want two clacks for the insert and delete keys... Anyone selling topre clacks should drop me a line, I'm willing to consider just about anything at the moment. Of particular interest is the 3d skull and oktoberfest cap.

I swore when I first started reading this site that I wouldn't go near this stuff, but those two keys look so lonely up on the top right corner. :( haha

Quoting myself for posterity. My goal was accomplished as of last night, two clacks for my ins/del cluster! :D

That's a nice pair you have!
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Patience.

I would love to own any clack as I see them as an art piece, but refuse to pay the inflated prices.  Some day a 4grabs will take place that I get an email back, I am in no hurry.
