Wow the keyboard used in the example was feral I wouldn't even bother trying to clean something like that. I'd honestly clean my keyboard before it gets like that, and if I found a keyboard like that it'd go for the bin. o.O

That's why I'll never buy a used keyboard.  It's like buying a used toothbrush.

I am disappointed when looking at the pictures. I expect several insects would come out of that jungle.

It so happens that I just finished cleaning up my old, (t)rusty Keytronic 03602 -series, manufactured in Ireland (!!) in April 1994... And it's... it's... Bjoo-ty-ful! Didn't take any before&after -shots but when I started out, the condition wasn't far off what's seen in that howtogeek tutorial... Crumbs, dog hair, cat hair, human hair, gollops of juice, a few servings of chocolate and ice cream etc. was discovered; now, however, the thing is as good as new! Keytronic FTW!

Will Lysol disinfectant spray build up over time? Because I don't think I ever want to touch another person's keyboard ever again without it. Or maybe I just need to carry around disposable rubber gloves.

I think on GH there is a good chance that wouldn't be the case. When people are as crazy about keyboards as the people on this site tend to be (and spend so much $$$ on them) I imagine most take care of them. But I understand your point, as 1 purchase of a nasty one would be pretty crappy.

Here's one of my first keyboards when I decided to clean it and took the keys off to find a mat of hair and unidentifiable bits.

Yeah, every keyboard that has passed through my hands has been given a complete scrubbing before it gets passed along... even the crappy ones. I clean them not because I'm a total keyboard lover, but I'd just be embarassed if people were picking my food and hair out of a keyboard that I used to own.
