Title: Artisan blanks new profile - How do you feel about this profile?
Post by: lorento on Fri, 09 March 2018, 07:26:38
Hi guys,

Currently I need to poll people about Artisan with this new profile, they are made up of 18x18 cubic meters, 13mm high, treated with 5 polished surfaces and bony edges.

I need your opinions and feelings about this profile, they can coordinate with any profile.

While the artwork on the cap is amazing (seriously, it looks good!), the fact that it is not in a pre-established profile & is just square is a big turn off to me. IMO it just makes it stick out like a sore thumb in your pics with it mixed in with SA profile caps & I suspect it'll do the same with any profile. Maybe if you make them so they taper from bigger at the bottom to smaller on the top that effect wouldn't be so pronounced. Now this is just my opinion & I am not a huge artisan fan either so we'll have to see what other's say, but to me I am not a fan of that profile.

I agree with Rob - the flower is lovely but the squareness doesn't look right where it is.

How does it look with row 3 SA, in place of Page Up in your pic?

Thank you for your valuable comments, I think the profiles should go with it will be more appropriate, looks like this combination will create a strange button  :-[

Perhaps it would be more appropriate to replace SA R3 for its height and balance, I just want to add it to any node on R1 to see how it differs. ;D

That is a good point, it might just look so out of place because of the row it's in. Also the fact that it's in with a sculpted set may exacerbate the out of place look.

OP could you post some pics with it in different rows with SA & some other key cap profiles? It may blend in better with Cherry, OEM, or DSA caps.

NP, also don't get the wrong impression. I am just giving you my opinion & some constructive criticism based off of that. TBH, I'm glad to see you trying out something different. While it may or may not fly with the community we'd never get some of the cool stuff we have if it isn't for people like you willing to try something out of the norm! :thumb:

I'm sure with the input of the community you will have a winner here! The art work is on point for sure IMO, just need to find out what profile people will like. Who knows, the majority might like it the way it is. GL with whatever you decide to do with this design! :thumb:
