Custom laser-cut top plate for choc "low-profile" switches
« on: Fri, 16 October 2020, 22:22:09 »
Anyone has experience with subj?

I designed and ordered a bunch of plates made of 1mm aluminum for choc specific custom designed boards. (I used sendcutsend which is awesome and ponoko).

My tolerances are ok, but it is impossible to push choc switches into the plate. I used square 14x14mm cutouts.
Aluminum plates are a little "burry", but funny thing is that MX switches go in, just fine.

I'm feeling that MX switches are made from softer plastic and it goes in easily, but choc is much harder.

Anyone has experience with chocs and aluminum laser cut plates? Do you extra deburr? or file it down by hand? or maybe use some other cutout profile for chocs?

Thanks!...
