Hi all, what's the easiest way to get in touch with Yuktsi? I purchased a GB spot from someone else and would like to confirm that the billing address on record is correct. I tried messaging Yuktsi on GH and Discord but haven't heard back yet. Any help would be appreciated :)

He's a busy guy, those are usually good channels. Patience :thumb: luckily you have like 5 months, so there isn't much rush.

Partly true, yeah. They stop happening once there isn’t an interested party. if the market stops paying insane markups, then less people will be willing to flip since margins would barely make it worth it considering turnaround time is a few months at best for a quality board.

I'm afraid that would only happen when designs stop going out in limited quantities, which practically means never.

Then the cycle of life will continue I suppose. In the mean time can we get back to talkin about this lil guy

This would actually be super useful. I’d like to cut some foam to size as well, so plate files would be ace if they’re available.

Use all the time to plan out your build. That's what I do atleast.

Right now trying to decide on whether to use CF or Alu with vint ergo clears.

my plan was a CF plate with ergo clears.  Also doing an alu plate with retooled blacks.

No one yet afaik. I may have been getting ahead of myself, but Yuktsi is usually pretty good about releasing them right? I just imagined there would be a brass plate gb at some point because it seemed like there was a good bit of interest.

If nobody else is volunteering to make plates, I'd be happy to. I have the equipment to cut metal plates and laser polycarbonate (or other materials). I don't have experience making keyboard parts nor have run any GB, but since it seems like there's a demand for other plates and I've experience with cutting on waterjet and lasercutter. I'd definitely need plate files, though.

Context: I'm new to the forum and custom keyboards. Been lurking this thread (and geekhack) for a while, but I was very lucky to be able to snag a spot for the CE and am super excited. My background is in mechanical engineering and I've got fabrication experience and equipment to make these sorts of things.

I like bootmapper. I don't have to update. It doesn't have to connect to an online list of what it'll support if I want to change my layout.
I like USB-mini. No fried PCB.
For some, reliability is better than convenience and flashy features.
Because the flash and convenience are anything but when they fail.

This is exactly how I feel about BMC and USB-mini :)
Easy and reliable, and always appreciate it as an option!

Are USB-C PCBs frying because of type C ports? I haven't heard of this.

I haven't heard of this either, but he may be referring to the extra power capable of being drawn by USB-C. Regardless, all the extra pins should be grounded, so well designed PCBs with Type C ports have identical circuits to those with Mini and Micro USB.

Somebody get this man a plate file.

You might be right. I only remember strictly to never cut PVC because it emits chlorine gas.

Either way, I can use waterjet to cut if it does not laser well. I can also explore using a ply cutter but not sure how thick material it can cut.

Auxo posted some early, in progress photos of the manufacturing process, but as the board is not finished being made, there are no completed photos of it yet. Just the various photos of the prototype linked in the OP.
