Keycon 2025 Poll - Please Vote (Archive)

<< < (2/3) > >>

+1 for Germany and voted as such.

I hope the votes continue for future years because I will not be stepping foot in Florida. Not as long as their current legislature keeps choosing to enact the laws they do. Particularly the ones that endanger our LGBT community members, of which there are many.

LumiP:
+1 for voting specifically because "not Florida" as well.

Just FYI: the choices are between (1) NK continuing to host Keycon or (2) NK gives ownership of the event to the community to decide.
If NK hosts, it will be in Germany in 2025 followed by somewhere in the US in 2026, and they are looking at Tampa as a possibility.
If it goes back to the community, then there will be further discussion and exploration of who manages it and where it will be hosted.

+1 for NK this year in Germany

For future years I'd like to see maybe NK acting as a co-host and community members bid to host, Olympics style. GH voting becomes the Olympic selection committee, NK helps with coordinating logistics with the host bidder.

also realizing I'm late to this post lolllll

Alrighty, friends. Based on the results of this poll, the KeyCon brand and responsibility for hosting the event comes back to the community. This is unfortunate, given that NK did a great job of bringing back the event in 2024 and planned to continue it in the US again in 2026 and beyond. That said, Mike and team have always done right by the community, and if this is what the community wants, then NK will honor the request and do the right thing again, as they have many times in the past. I would also like to thank GMK for offering to host Keycon in Germany, which I’m sure would have been a great event (and may continue under a different label with NK).

I am discussing options with a team of community members, some of whom were involved in the most recent and earlier KeyCon events, to structure a plan to take over organizing the event on behalf of the community. More details will be forthcoming once these plans have solidified.
