idk anything about watches, can someone recommend something cool under $1k? ive wanted a watch for a while but been holding off, but now im getting a tattoo on my wrist and i want something to cover it for jobs etc so i decided to use that as an excuse to get one

The first step would be deciding if you want a quartz or mechanical movemenet.

A quartz watch is your regular battery powered watch. It's cheap, reliable and you don't really have to worry about it until it needs a battery change every 3-5 years.

A mechanical (or automatic) watch is powered by gears and springs. It's the same technology that's been used in watches for hundreds of years. It's expensive, sensitive, inaccurate and stops if you don't wear it for 2 days but it's the enthusiast's choice because it's cool.

Once you decide which one of these is for you, I'd recommend just browsing r/Watches on Reddit and see what's out there. You'll have an easier time picking out a watch if you know what kind of movement and style you want.

Compact Ergo Interest Group Buy, 4 years in and we made it work

Please visit the landing page below

Hello GeekHack!

Welcome to the long-time coming Group Buy for the Compact Ergo:

IC page: https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=121947 (read this for the complete description of history and development)

TLDR for people who don't like reading (cough cough Simon cough cough)

- Alice inspired ergo with slightly lesser angle (9.5 degrees), southpaw numpad, arrows and rotary;
- Supports ISO and mirrored numpad;
- Factory-soldered RGB user-configurable indicators in VIA;
- Simple top-mount with minimalistic looks;
- All important acronyms are here: QMK, VIA, RGB, USBC, ESD, EMI and OV and OC protection with a DB

- GB will run from june 1 to june 30, priced at 400 for soldered kit and 405 for hotswap kit
- US and UK vendors (idea is UK covers EU)
- Kit contains carrying case, screws, DB, bumpons, the whole shabang
- Addons like writst rest and different plate materials will be offered

Layout

The layout was inspired by biroromi's SPV1 (https://cannonkeys.com/products/spv1-keyboard), which was a "1800CP" with a 75% arrowcluster and a southpaw numpad because southpaw rocks. For CP Ergo, we wanted to translate this idea into the Alice layout albeit with a slightly reduced angle (9.5 degrees) which allows us to put a rotary at the F-row and also support ISO for the bad tasted respectable people that like it.

I really like this color scheme! Would you consider making the alphas' legend color dark to increase legibility? GLWIC

Hi!! I really appreciate the feedback, I've seen this a lot and I did consider changing the legends to be the mod color but when I ran the renders I just didn't like the result compared to white legends

I am considering changing the alpha color to be slightly darker or more purple to contrast better with white but I still think the current color will translate well to real life, my renders could just suck haha
