[IC] La Muerte Deskmat

Hi GeekHack, This is Ferry from PhangKey.
This form is an interest check for our upcoming deskmats
Previously we released some of our deskmat series equilibrium and amaterasu.

This post is mainly to gauge interest and see whether this design is feasible for sale.

Story:

Have you ever lost someone you really loved, adore,
you can't even forget, and you may continue to grieve and grieve when they are gone,
because their existence while they were alive means a lot to our hearts and minds.

but you know that maybe those who have left don't want us to continue to be sad when remembering them,
instead of mourning when remembering them,
on the contrary those who have left may want us to be happy for those who have left to be happy there,
they may want to we just remember them in happy times so that their departure does not bring bad or sad things,
instead their departure at least brings happy news and brings a happy atmosphere to those left behind.

La Muerte was inspired by the Mexican "dia de los muertos", the background of the Day of the Dead is interesting enough that it led us to realize this project,
where we commemorate the death of the family left behind not by grieving continuously but remembering funny things about them, so that they too are happy there.

I probably won't buy this either way, but the text kills the design for me. The line work is very cool and detailed so the text feels out of place.

Agreed. Also would love to see a more colorful variant to match a lot of the face paint looks you see on Día de los Muertos.

I have to agree with the others that the text on the deskmat detracts from the design. I assume these will run on Drop like Amaterasu and Equilibrium did?

Fun design. I worry that the centered skull is going to disappear during actual use, and might consider shifting it to one site. Love the intricate line work along the borders though.

I also agree with others who would like to see the extra text along the edges removed.

really like the design but i always feel like gold on cloth either is uncomfortable or looks wrong, i feel like more colorful options would help a bunch.
and drop shipping last time i checked was stupidly expensive to Europe (where i am), correct me if it changed but i feel like it will not be anywhere worth it for a "cheap" item like a deskmat.

Also I just read you contacted the person who made mictlan. Does that mean you designed your deskmat off of their work? I know colorways aren't owned by anyone. This just seems like you're capitalizing on someone else's work.

Yes its a similiar theme with the Vheissu Mictlan..

but i already clarify with vheissu, and to this community we arent trying to jump band wagon/capitalizing someone else work as our team made this deskmat design on mid october...

Regarding colorway yes we already have the permission from vheissu...

And the last one is to wanna make sure again to this community that we didnt do any collaboration with Vheissu gmk mictlan as he have his own deskmat design...

If the "La Ofrenda" deskmat was designed in mid-October, why was it published days after this thread was created and almost a week after the Mictlán IC was published and gained tremendous traction? It's strangely convenient for this "new" design.

really like the new colorway. and yeah being inspired by the same event make sense it would use similar themes and color as GMK Mictlán, you guys need to stop seeing the devil everywhere, this event predate both so who could claim ownership of it?
and i will need to check Drop's Europe shipping to see if it is even viable to order.

Way too much drama about a deskmat design colourway. The thematic overlap is clearly coincidental due to the recent Day of the Dead date.
Whether or not the new colourway matches GMK Mictlán occurred deliberately or coincidentally doesn't matter.
As long as the artwork is original, the deskmat designer can do it in whatever colourway variations they wish, even if it happens to complement another set. They do not need the keycap set designer's permission.
If I release rose gold+black+white or red+blue colourway of a deskmat design would I need to speak to Olivia (GMK Olivia) and MiTo (GMK Laser) for their permission?

Vheissu (designer behind GMK Mictlán) has already commented stating their position that they have their own deskmat designs in the works, and OP (Ferry from PhangKey) has released a statement that they have already reached out and communicated with Vheissu. So consider the matter settled.

I like that OP took feedback from the community to improve the product proposed before going to GB (validating the purpose of this forum).
I for one, also appreciate that there's more deskmat options available to match a great looking set.
I will also keeping an eye seeing what the GMK Mictlán official deskmat designs look, to see how another artist executes the theme (which I have a soft spot for due to the film Coco).

Would definitely join the group buy for the gold one, maybe the silver one as well, mostly because this is the most pirate deskmat I've seen so far.

However, I'd wish the gold/silver was actually a different kind of print/material that would have some gloss to it. I know it's possible for books/paper to have a foil-layer, but I certainly don't know whether that works for a deskmat. It would be interesting, though.
