Damn, I want one, it's too beautiful :)

Also thanks for the inspiration, I don't know whether I'm going to use it, but it inspired me to try different materials for a keyboard case, lego being the leading one of them

I was looking for a keyboard to go with your True Retro set, it seems this keyboard / layout would be an awesome choice

it is going to be available soon!

I hope you mean the files, and not the massdrop group buy. I sense more wallet hackery in progress if you make it too easy for geeks to get hold of your wooden casing...

everything will be released (PCB, 3d files, etc...)

the keyboard (in plastic, not wood) will be released soon.

Hi Matt3o,

Is there any chance these files will be released soon?

Thanks!

Very nice. I'm curious about how the teensy fit in the plate.

a very similar keyboard will be soon available in a DIY kit.

This is just an early prototype

PCB will be white :)

Yes, I should have everything ready in a couple of weeks. We are still tweaking the case.

Lol.  This will be a decently big thing.  The world needs more 65%.

Those aluminum "custom Koreans" got nothing on this. It really makes me question if Cherry profile was the right choice for my board.

10/10, awesome board, especially in granite.

Can you link me to where you learned about that pcb making process? Or just a quick crash course so I can learn on my own?

Hm, how did you made the screws sink in the steel plate that far to be flush with the top surface?

But a countersink screw won't sink in steel that far without any further preparation. I'd like to know: which preparation?

That is the preparation. You use a countersink bit to create the countersink for the screw.

But there is no thread left when you use an countersink bit to widen the hole of a 1.5mm (!) steel plate. There will be just a huge hole.

Matt3o, alright, and did you use a countersink bit of 90° or 120°?

My guess is 120 since 90 might be too aggressive of an angle for that thin of a plate.

Maybe, neverused. But I'm in doubt, whether a 90° M3 flat head screw sink that deep in a hole made with a 120° countersink.

This might be a bit off topic, but..

How did you make that original PCB?
Is that just the toner onto copper board method? If not, is there a guide you followed (or made, knowing you) to whatever you did?

Any quotes on pricing yet? I plan on buying some PCB receptacles for hot swappable..you think this could be feasible with your PCB? Something like these https://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/0305-2-15-15-47-27-10-0/ED90333-ND/1801940
