Wrong thread!

:p
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Tai Hao Oceanic Blue added to white KeyCool - it looks better than I expected (and I expected it to look pretty good, tbh) :)

I changed it to just standard ISO... then put it up for sale LOL. I think all the extra characters in colors line up with the correct keys if the appropriate keymap is loaded in the OS. You would still have the rest of the letters 'wrong' as azerty on any other keymap of course.

Some silenced Novatouch sliders, and not silenced with the type S washers. That would be silly.

Yeah feels pretty normal. A lot better than the awful type s sliders for me anyway. I didn't even care for MX compatibility on the hhkb. I bought a hhkb then realized it feels terrible, more scratchy than MX Brown. So I pulled it apart; inspected the sliders and noticed that the surface of the plastic on the outside was extremely rough..

How is this so premium if there's no quality checks on the molds that make the sliders.
Anyway that's a story for a whole new thread someday.

So I decided to tear up my perfect novatouch for the sliders and now it feels somewhat closer to what Topre should feel like.

I had a few chattering switches on my JD40, so I swapped my 62g MX blacks out for stock Gateron clears.

Pretty excited that I managed to do it without destroying the board, it was my first real soldering job. I feel pretty confident about my upcoming Phantom build, as well as installing a uTKL plate into my QFR.

Desoldering can be really frustrating, but I think I've mostly got the hang of it!  :thumb:

I resigned to calling it quirky, it's functionally fine so left it alone.

People in the 1980s, in general, were clearly just better than we are now in every measurable way.

The dumber the reason the more it must be done

Good looking rest. Did you do this one yourself? It looks like an oil rubbed finish or is it bare?

Thanks! Nope, it came with the board when I purchased it from exitfire. I don't know if it is oil or not though. The bottom says Bird Electron.

You can tell who uses their CCs. Put some serious shine on those mint gums. Nice!

Yeah... I can't even remember the texture they are suppose to have lol, though I had managed to shine my entire OG Miami set too

That should clean up nicely!

Replacing missing caps is also quite doable!  I managed to get hold of about a dozen various Model M keycaps in different ways.
