I replaced the switch for the \| key that was pulled out by the key from the JT set so that I could put on one of my favorite sets of all time (another huge thank you to suicidal_orange for the gift), Sanctuary!

I love this set!  The colors are great and the font is awesome!  I still really like the feeling of SP dcs caps on mx blues; so crispy feeling.

Not entirely sold on the Clack but Sanctuary looks great on a silver board!

Never seen a gold Ribbit before, very nice.  Nearly didn't notice him due to bright mods...

Today I finally got round to converting my JD40 into a tablet stand, something I planned to do during last Christmas break.  Please excuse the dust and dodgy keycaps, this is still a work in progress but it works!

Switched case the other day to Varmilo aluminum; unfortunately it's not really cut properly so on the Backspace side, the keys overhang and you can't use certain profiles, and even these Cherry ones hit the case when being pressed.

Since I couldn't use OEM and my 87-key zinc set (as using backspace, enter and right shift clinked each time I used it), I was able to use my full blank dark grey set from Massdrop.

Was that the Varmilo-specific aluminum case offered on Massdrop? If so, the strange fit is disappointing.

Added a matching Mummy I and II followed by some of Bunny's painted caps to my GON HHKB.

114437-0

The base of Genie is pretty close to the dark blue/ purple of the painted caps.

114439-1

Edit: I swapped the fn to the left of shift for a black blank, having 3 was too much going on and I prefer the symmetry.

I don't know if you can say that I ADDED something to my keyboard, but I restored an old FAME TH-5539 (never seen another one like this before) to beyond its former glory. At first I was debating on just restoring it as it was, but I figured self-expression was best, since I love it so. :3

Some pics from the original owner, well... He got it from a keyboard heap off an e-cycler in Aussieland. Those splotches are bromine stains. Not just something you could wipe off, to my dismay.

Aaand after weeks consisting of sanding, retrobriting, painting, and retexturing the bezel:

Rustoleum Black Sandable Primer, Rustoleum Galaxy Blue ColorShift, Eastwood 2K High Temp Gloss Clear :P

The plate was Duplicolor Adhesion Promoter, Duplicolor MetalCast Blue, Duplicolor Effex, Eastwood 2K High Temp Gloss Clear

The bezel was cleaned, sanded, retrobrited, and then retextured with Eastwood 2K High Temp Matte Clear. I just picked High Temp for fun. :P

These are cool and they remind me of my cherry logo keycap! Are made using two different plastics? I think that the mold has a space for the translucent legend, which is later filled in right?

mmm clear warmaster. Aren't all warmasters (and artisans in general) technically "limited"?

And yeah, dumping them all out and sorting them really was enjoyable. Probably because it felt so much like sorting out LEGOs as a kid. :P

mmm clear warmaster. Aren't all warmasters (and artisans in general) technically "limited"?

And yeah, dumping them all out and sorting them really was enjoyable. Probably because it felt so much like sorting out LEGOs as a kid. :P
Yea I guess you're right about all artisans being limited, but these were never sold, just given as prizes to lucky people.

Exactly lol. Add to the fact that keycaps kinda sound like lego when you dump them out and there's a bunch of assorted colors in the crap bag, and boom, nostalgia. :D

I like your set up. Nice pic
Thanks!

Put O-rings in my Jukebox set, like 6 O-rings in one key  :'(

I was thinking of this myself when I originally ordered Jukebox. I have the O-rings for it now. Firm ones since I don't like the squishiness of soft o-rings, but I ended up foregoing using them for all keys except the space bar, since that key had a really hollow sound on every downstroke. The o-rings definitely fixed that.

Make the right choice and just learn to not bottom out. :thumb:
People in the 1980s, in general, were clearly just better than we are now in every measurable way.

The dumber the reason the more it must be done

^-^ I used to feel like I enjoyed the feeling of o-rings when I first jumped into mechanical, but that was definitely part of my transitional phase from scissor switches to mechanical. Yeah, I'm fine with not bottoming out when it comes to Cherry MX, but Alps are a different story. The high actuation and drop after that makes it super hard not to bottom out on most Alps switches, but that's fine, because Alps clacks are the best clacks. :thumb:

Seriously though, it's like you're going down some insane slope in the Alps when typing on Alps switches, haha.
