New case for the QFR, loving the color with the red, soon to be replaced with JTK Coke. And I swear to god, if you say its a McDonalds board...

It was a special set made by SP that included F, J, Esc, Enter, 1u Cherry logo and a 1.25u GeekHack keys. While they are DCS they look good enough to be used along with the OG Cherry. Unfortunately I have not found black on red GMK made key caps like these, so far.

You seem to have accidentally put it on upside down
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

been quite a long time since i have posted anything on gh

lost my camera in my move to my new home but

finally fixed a broken phantom i have had in a box for over a year, put it in a vortex aluminum case that i have also had in a box for over a year, put some calm depths on it today. very solid typing experience, stock browns are OK in such a solid and heavy set case. not liking though the non-sculpted SA caps. was using round 5 for a couple months and its much better sculpted

im old school you damn kids.

Obviously not my picture, but I did get a bottle of Krytox 103 from MrRooks today. Lubed up my HHKB, WHAT A DIFFERENCE! Super pleased with the end result, the keyboard is muchhhhhhhhh quieter now and very smooth. Couldn't recommend doing it enough.

I ended up following Bro's guide here:

In my experience bands didn't even reduce sound very much compared to just lubing (which will reduce sound by itself), but reduced key travel in a way that was really unpleasant.

Type on an old Dell keyboard if you want to simulate what dental-banded Topre feels like.

This was going to be the next step honestly, once he restocks them in January (I think that's when he said). I've heard nothing but good things about them.

It's wayyyyy quieter with the lube, so if the bands just reduce travel and don't damped sound, sounds like there's no need for them. Thanks for the input everyone, mucho appreciated.  :thumb:

Added the Carbon set to my Ducky Shine III.

These are my first aftermarket keycaps, along with my first Massdrop purchase.  Sure was a long wait, and now I am trying to get use to the sculpted caps.
Still trying to figure out what to do with the four caps above the number pad.  Just threw on the rest of the forum kit for now.

I did the same mod as you a few weeks back! The difference between lubed and unlubed is amazing. Here are some vids I took yesterday to show the difference:

Changed my second PCB to also be HHKB like the one I've got rocking green Alps.

This one is using Brown linear Alps on the mods (backlit), and brown tactile Alps everywhere else.

Not sure how I feel about it, but these PBT caps from the IBM 5140 are sick (perfect for an HHKB layout). Mixed them together with my Dell AT101 caps for a complete layout. Don't have a beige space bar to really blend well with the bottom row.

Not using stabs on the enter or left shift keys, but Alps are pretty solid without stabilizers. I'm going to see what I can do to try and mod Cherry PCB stabs to take Alps plate mounted stabs. I know it can be done.

I'll give it a shot when things are more lax around here.

Also, not sure about these brown tactiles though. I can't imagine they feel like Topre (as some like to compare these to), but then I've never tried topre. Lubed ergos feel closer to a pleasant rubber dome than this does.

More
Backlighting is a little out of place with these traditional caps.

Added before some stickers and clear covers to Poker II, now came new green leds from ebay 'cause before had with flange and now came flangless. Damn it's bright and awesome to write with the stickers and clear covers with leds. The feeling of MX browns is much much better when stickered. :))
