Sorry for the cross-post. But i got the GH January pack!

Where's the enter??

I think that looks pretty good. They look better on backlit keyboard IMO but I love how you can see the switch stem w/ these keys in.

it's in a little baggy currently as I was having issues with it and my white little pieces that go on the stabilizer (?). I put some tape between them and the cap but still had some issues. I will fiddle around with it more later on.

Also sorry about the potato picture. heh

Try using little squares from a plastic bag. I tried that and really liked the results.

And I'm rocking potato pictures as well. No worries.

Got my Ducky YOTD key cap set today.

Replaced the Esc and f,g,h,j, and Fn keys on my Ducky Shine 2 with the special caps:

And used the rest of the backlit caps to replace as much of the font on my Cooler Master QuickFire TK as I could (could not replace the space bar because the spacing on the stabilizers were slightly different so didn't have enough space to replace the windows keys and Fn key):

I guess this is technically "adding" to my keyboard. jdcarpe was gracious enough to send me the Rosewill board from which he harvested red switches. I added vintage blacks that I recently desoldered from a wyse board. And voila, Rosewill 9000 w/ vintage blacks. It's a big step from my blues but I like it, just not for the same purposes. Plus there's that DIY sense of accomplishment.

Took off whites and added browns to my Poker, soldered new PCB brown switches because i haven't got the hang of opening up the switch assembly quickly and changing things out. its still faster for me to desolder & solder. Whites going back on RACE. Also put material behind the Poker PCB to try to have it flex less Added novelty caps for the first time.

All that work and you didn't add a wonderful poker plate. I wish I had the equipment to install my own plate, but the aluminum tray with the insert does seem to give the poker a more solid feel.
How do you like browns?
I think browns are easily my favorite all day switch. I'm thinking of trying ergo clears again, but only if I can get someone to lube up a set for me as they felt way too grainy when I tried them on my poker.

Oh btw, I have a spare switch tool from The_Beast's plate group buy. Hit me up if you want it, Glod.

yeah... the browns are good but they would be much better with a plate :( right now i think i prefer my rosewill reds because of the plate mounted even though i prefer 60-75% layouts like the poker.

yeah i could use a switch tool lol

Plated, stickered, lubed 65g blacks.

Desoldering even a Poker was a lot of work and I need a new tip for the cheap Radio Shack desoldering iron that has the attached bulb now. It didn't even last the entire board of switches. Not looking forward to desoldering switches for my Phantoms. Nor am I looking forward to opening switches that are not mounted on a board. =\

Every time I go into Radio Shack, I buy all the desoldering iron tips they have in stock. Each time I start on a new board, I use a new tip. If I clean it on the sponge every three or four switches, I can usually get an entire full-size board done with one tip.

If you use a "dental pick" tool to pop the switch tabs open, you can get non-mounted switches open in a few seconds, without much hassle.

What did you use for lube?

The silicon Teflon stuff that you can get from the local hardware store. It feels nice but we'll see how long it actually lasts.

Good to know it's not just me then as I'd only used it for desoldering a few switches here and there before.

When you're using the dental pick to open the switches what do you hold the switch with? I used the little screw driver and a paper clip that I normally use to open mounted switches but they're just so small squeezing them after a while really takes a toll on the hands and fingers. I have to use the paper clip to prevent the first side from snapping back shut when trying to undo the second side.
