I see an awesome watch, pair of black clacks and watermelon in the background though! :D

Yeah, I need to bring the watch to repair.. it has stopped working for awhile now.

Put the watermelon back on a keyboard! It looks lonely in the corner! :p

It's on my CM QFR now. :) Currently using on my Laptop!

Turbo,

Do you know what the name of that grey clack is? And I like your collection. Sometimes i feel like just a few emphasize how nice Clacks are.

Too many of them on a board remind me of unicorn vomit and kind of take away from just how special they are. Even what I have is too much for one board imho. I like the cleanliness of a CC on the esc. Like jil_jil's all black board with the og ek tri-color. Now THAT is sexy and makes the CC stand out.

This grey is an F2 so it's color isn't going to be quite what the original grey is. This is my only F2 but it looks flawless to me, apart from the hole in the back. I actually like the shade alot.

Not this one! :( It'll get all my lovin'. :)

Interesting looking black SP caps on there. Where did you get those from?
If they were cherry I probably could dig something up to help you fill in the miss-matches. but not with black SP keys

They are a very dark grey from triad terminal boards.
Temporary situation though, plan to refresh and sell some stuff when I have some time.

Finally concluded that 1800 ISO is pretty much my perfect board, just need to sort out the fact they don't come with my choice of switches...

excluding the 1.5x & 7x bottom row, you should be able to get a white-on-black cherry set for very cheap. would be US ISO, not UK ISO of course.

good thing the 1800's are PCB mount then so you can just swap stems/springs to your liking :)

Added these Zinc V2's from feng 12851-0

Mistakenly ordered WASD instead of arrows but they fit nicely.

Very impressed with the finish and quality. Makes me want to consider a whole keyboard full of them although I think the extra weight might justify going from blue to green switches.

Right then, after much switch opening and removal shenanigans, really wasn't enjoying the black switches.
I am now typing this to you all from the same 1800 board but now possessing clear stems, springs and switch tops, and decked out in full with the SKIData keyset and a bit less of the novelty factor.

Very happy to be back on clear switches    :D  :D  :D

Mechanical keyboards are primarily vessels for novelty keycaps...

Added a bunch of key caps from my old Link terminal keyboard, plus Red Alert modifiers.  Apart from the space bar, the look is not too bad.

Show Image

Any tips on searching for a "link" terminal? All the whites, right?

These are old, mine is circa 1988!

The keyboard has Cherry MX black switches, apparently not vintage, although they probably should be.

The model number of the keyboard is 900243-08.

This one might be similar (but no pic): http://www.ebay.ca/itm/900243-08-GR-Link-MC5-Keyboard-LIKE-NEW-/190682806637

Just added a cherry set I got from duq. I'm rocking them on my Filco MJ2 with blue switches.

(The tabulator key is not dirty, just discolored =p)

She still has them on her Choc :D. Don't think she will ever change them unless I get her a keyboard with pretty lights ;). I really liked the PBT rainbow when I was using them too. Pretty good quality, but now I'm all snobby with my only cherry key sets xD.

Something yellow:

Tricky to ge the colour right (especially during sunset), but they are a nice shade of yellow, with a hint of orange :)

They actually look quite nice with the silver QFR case.

Yes, when I get better lighting (i.e. not a fading sunset).  I also intend doing a comparison of these with the other yellow kepcaps I have, plus maybe a brief review of them.

Thanks :)

Ask me when I have seen them next to each other in decent light.  So far I think I prefer the Filco.

I intend to update my yellow thread with comparison pictures.

Got some RA 2.0 mods in the mail today. Thanks kmiller8! Paired them with some WYSE keys. What say you? I think this would look better with a black case. I kinda like the contrast, but I NEED A WYSE SPACEBAR!

I stay busy with work and family these days, but I'm still around, lurking.

Got some RA 2.0 mods in the mail today. Thanks kmiller8! Paired them with some WYSE keys. What say you? I think this would look better with a black case. I kinda like the contrast, but I NEED A WYSE SPACEBAR!

overall is nice there, except that spacebar.... seems like the odd ball here....

Very smiilar to what my QFR user to look like, albeit with keycaps from a Link terminal instead of Wyse, and with a bit more branding.

See:

Mine now has a more yellowish look :)

"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Yeah, that is funny. When I opened this thread to post my new setup I saw where that pic had been quoted a few posts up. I swear I never saw that pic before I decided to do this, but they are indeed very similar. The wyse caps came off a NIB board that never saw the light of day from production in 1996 until about 3 months ago. So they had not yellowed at all, very fortunate.

Mine are off an old Link terminal, circa 1988, and very yellow (but not yellow enough for what I wanted!).

Comparison of the yellows can be found here:

And a couple of shots in slightly better lighting of the yellow goodness (as requested and promised):
