Got some clears in the mail and modded my Poker to ergo clears. I think I like them but still not sure if they beat blues for me.

That top GIF is of a MX clear switch which is a heavy tactile switch. Clears are translucent while whites are stark white.

Also, AFAIK, the moving part on the whites that "clicks" is black, not 100% on that though

i know this, but i thought white/blue switches are the same stem and same parts just diff spring. So wouldnt a ergo white be a blue switch? (assuming both had the exact same stems and slider bit? anyone have a good side by side stem of blue/whites? (NOT CLEAR)

Yes I put a clear clicker on a white stem with 60g springs and it is basically a blue (and vice versa with the black clicker on blue stem)

If I get clears and whites muddled one more time I'll force myself to use an old rubber-dome keyboard for 24 hours.

Let's get a petition going. If he comes back to post, the mods will lay off him. It really hasn't been the same hack without him and DW.

I thought there was a slight difference in the length of something on a mx white that even if you put a blue spring it is still quieter.

Yeah, it was either this or that white moving part was made out of a different material, thus dampening the sound. I could have sworn blue/green is an ABS like material, while white is more of a PBT material, but I forget. WFD posted it somewhere.

45g Vintage Blacks with vinyl stickers on the newly received Dolch. Friend needs a gamer-board and liked linear switches so I put this together for him.

Only to realize the input connector is all wrong. Would someone please PM me if they can make me a converter?

I believe you can just desolder the cable and solder a PS2 cable in its place providing you identify which pins go where.

Yes, just replace it with a PS/2 cable. Only reason to make adapter for 4p4c is if you have a PAC you want to use it with.

Thats a good point. If they are primarily FPS/TPS then it will suck balls. If they are mostly RTS then it's probably ok.

Plus a smaller form factor feels much better for gaming IMO. Not knocking the 1800 layout, but it's probably not the best for gaming (sorry flynn)

1800 is barely bigger than average tenkeyless. I think they are great if it wasn't for the lousy 2KRO on the winkeyless models.

Would adding diodes to the switches in place of the jumpers give it NKRO? Or is the controller not set up for it?

If there are no diodes, the controller may have ghost-cancelling logic, which would then prevent true N-key, right?

I've been told it won't work but I have been meaning to try it anyway since I have a bunch of switches with diodes. If it dosen't work then it would be ready to take the next step and replace the controller board with a teensy or something.

Whenever I get the mounting plate, I'm going to rebuild my 1813 with clears that have diodes, swapped into a new white G81-1800 case. I have a white coiled Cherry cable with an AT-connector end, that I need to put a PS/2 end onto. Would be nice to get more than 2KRO with the franken-1800.

I finally got the correct profile Delete, End, PgDn, and numpad minus keys as well as a original Cherry right shift.  I have my sister's garage saling to thank for this.  Also, thanks to CommunistWitchDr, I have a stepped caps lock.  My bore of a board is now complete... mostly. :)
