All keyboards are a bit different (although I'd love for someone to crack open one of these and see if is a Costar CST-104).

I'm 99% sure [strike]it is a CST-104[/strike] (I'm revising this statement to a "Costar board" retroactively). Even the box is the same as the Filco (although Rosewill branded), it even has the same split to put the cable under the spot where the PS/2 adapter would be if Rosewill wasn't ridiculously cheap.

That, and owning an ABS M1 and a Filco Majestouch Tactile Touch NKRO Otaku & A Filco Majestouch Tactile Touch makes me pretty sure. The bodies are identical.

EDIT: The Filco has that hard plastic cover over it, and the Rosewill comes in one of those foam bags. That's the only significant packaging difference (other than the branding) that I can see. Other than the fact that Diatec's packing is kind of glossy and Rosewill went for matte.

Wow I hope I can get one at the sweet spot of $70.
I think if keyboard manufacturers can get close to $70, then they'll be hitting critical mass on sales.  $100 is hard to justify.

By the way, from those pictures it looks to me like the underside of the case is identical to the ABS M1.

The ABS M1 I know is not the Costar CST-104.  My bet this is like the Costar CST-Rosewill or something.

That's interesting. they don't even list it.

What model were the Filco Zero series?

Either way, even if it's not a CST-104 I'm willing to bet it's a Costar board.

It'll be $80 on October 11th if OCN is right. I got mine for $72 which is a very sweet spot indeed.

Definitely looks Costar.  Like the Das/Filco/half a dozen other brands.

I'm just saying it's the insides that count.

If I had an iota of mechanical ability myself I'd tear the thing down and provide horrible looking cell phone pics (since my camera is shot). I'd certainly break the board given my current abilities.

I'll wait for someone more expert to provide a teardown.

Here I am on Oct 11 and it says "Although you've entered a valid promo code RWBRAND20US, your order does not currently meet the code's usage criteria."

Not sure what this is all about.  I think this item is not in the group of Rosewill components on sale.

Just ordered one of these. Right now it's at $84 + shipping, but you can get a free gaming headset (meh).
The race is on for which one will show up first. This one or my Filco Majestouch Tactile Touch from elitekeyboards. Which I just noticed updated their backorder date to Nov 10th.

When I have them both I will have to see which I like better. The Rosewill with the cherry blues or the Filco with the cherry browns.

Almost certainly the RK-9000. It's in stock and Newegg ships with UPS 3 Day Select (FedEx Ground is not guaranteed within 3 days). EliteKeyboards probably won't ship until tomorrow at the earliest and unless you're in CA and he does ship tomorrow (which would end up in a tie), Newegg has it in stock and has a ton of UPS trucks doing pickup runs into the night. Plus they have an Edison, NJ facility, although I can't tell you if they have them there (the easy way is to check the last step of Newegg's checkout; if all items will ship from the same warehouse; "estimated 1 day" or "estimated 2 day" with UPS 3 Day select on the east coast means Edison).

Chiefvalue was $3 less with free UPS 3 Day Select shipping but I'm pretty sure the coupon expired. Even so, you may value the gaming headset over $8 shipping.

EDIT: Checked Newegg, it's in Edison. East coasters should get it within 1-2 days:

I have just bought.  I'm bitterly disappointed with the two Adesso keyboards with Cherry Blues that I bought so I'm going to give Cherry Blue switches one more try.  That's kinda why I ordered my Das Keyboard in Cherry Brown flavor.  The ultra-slim form factor of the ABS M1 really appeals to me and since the RK-9000 shares that same slim size I think I'll really like it.

Yeah, I could take or leave the hedset and now that I look at the actual entry on cheifvalue instad of google shopping ( it shows it at the full $99 + shipping) I might have gone with them. Doesn't really matter in the end I suppose it's only a few bucks difference and I get a headset this way.

Any way I look at it though I get a keyboard this week which is exciting.

Looks like Rosewill is done with promotional pricing. Back up to $99.99 on both sites.

Chiefvalue is out of stock (they rely solely on Newegg's La Puente, CA facility). Newegg is still in stock (appears to be in Edison, NJ) and is still offering the gaming headset for free.

Unusual. This was not the case in the past. In fact, even when I know an item is in Edison (Newegg's estimation on the last stage of checkout), every time I've ordered from Chiefvalue (cheaper price), it had shipped from CA.

CV used to claim to be separate from Newegg, but the SSL cert is signed to Newegg Inc. (it's extended validation) so clearly this doesn't fly. They say they share a warehouse.

Interestingly enough, mail from Chiefvalue customer service bounces off of  S7CEX03.buyabs.corp before hitting smtp01.newegg.com.

Anyhow, logically my RK-9000 should have shipped from NJ (closest), but it didn't.

The main problem is that it has to stay that price. At $99.99 plus shipping (Chiefvalue doesn't have it now)...

The key finish on Filcos is superb, in my opinion. Logo's better (if you care). Tenkeyless option. Better support for sure.

At $72 it was a no brainer but at $100+ the decision becomes more difficult.

Both Newegg and Chiefvalue have delisted the RK-9000. Which is curious, as they could both mark them out of stock instead.

Tis a shame, at the $85 price, it seems to be quite the value. I'll eventually end up getting a Tenkeyless Filco for LANs and such, but the RK-9000 has settled my itch for the time being with no short comings that I am aware of (unlike the Adesso)

I bought this keyboard sometime ago and I really like but I am still getting used to it.

It's my first mechanical keyboard so I can't compare it to anything else but it is very heavy and built really well.

My biggest problem, which I think is just user error is that I "double space" a lot. Usually once or twice in something as long as this. I think it's just because of my repeat delay or something not the keyboard, sometimes I hit space in the middle of words too, so I  guess it's my thumb still not used to the keyboard. The space bar seems to activate higher than any other key though.

Sounds like you have a chattering spacebar that needs to be repaired.

Newegg and ChiefValue both have it in stock now, it appears, at $100.
Someday somebody will best me, but it won't be today, and it won't be you.

Could be a firmware error as well.

You still having the problem?

I've had a few random double spaces as well when typing on this keyboard. Not sure if it is just me still adjusting for the spacebar or not, since I came from the land of the sketchy membrane keyboards.

Think might just be the angle my thumb connects with it perhaps?

Damn wish I had saw these when they were $70. Ordered mine for $87, still a good deal on some blue cherries.
Wonder if newegg will drop the shipping on black friday.

Not likely, but wait until Cyber Monday, and they probably will. Newegg usually does the monday sale, rather than the friday sale.

I just read on Teamliquid that the RK-9000 is on sale for $80 CAD on Newegg.ca. Can't confirm it though.

Yah it is. I just bought it. But with Canadian tax and [overpriced] shipping, it works out to about $105 ($80 + $12 + $12). I wish it was less but this is probably best price for quality locally.

I've been having this problem as well, but not so often as for it to really bother me.  I think it's that my typing technique has placed my thumb on the spacebar as a centering mechanism (much like a bassist might brace his plucking thumb against the side of the pickup on his bass guitar).  The thing is, the MX Blues are so light, I think I accidentally strike the spacebar while typing.  I can avoid the space issue by typing carefully, or by consciously keeping my thumb off the bar until I need it.

That or my RK-9000 needs to be repaired too.

I haven't had it, but I did have it initially when I first got my Filco Tactile Touch NKRO with MX Browns. Went away after a couple weeks. I attribute it to user error as a result.

MX Browns required a fractions of the force of the rubber dome keyboard I replaced.

I haven't experienced an unintended double space on my Rosewill RK-9000.  Either I was lucky with my Rosewill RK-9000 or my typing technique works well with it.

Typically most of my fingers "float" above the keys except my pinkies which lightly touch "A" and ";" to keep my hands in the right place.  When I pause for very long while typing, my fingers will lightly rest on most/all of the keys including my right thumb.  The left thumb tends to either float or lightly touch the left trackpoint button if I'm on a thinkpad style keyboard.  If one of my hands somehow gets in the wrong place, I re-center by checking for the ridges/bumps on F and J.  I have no idea if this is proper technique.  Just describing what I'm doing as I do it.

I'm sure that's more than anyone wanted to know about my typing, it's more than I knew. Hah, never thought about it before.  Was just curious how it compares to what others do.  Maybe I'm doing something wrong I should improve, but it seems to work well enough for me.
