Matias Quiet Click and Matias Quiet Linear. Matias Click may feel too similar to White ALPS for you, though they are notably lighter than Blue and White ALPS.

Also, is the difference between the Model F and the Model M significant? I love typing on my M and wonder if it would be worth it to buy a Model F.

I want to try vintage green alps and 'space invaders'. However, I have no idea how to use either of those switch types with a modern computer. But that's just me

I hear that Topre is best. I've yet to confirm this theory

A nice clean hall effect keyboard is the best linear switch out there in my opinion.

Tbh it depends a bit on what kind of switches you might want to try to begin with. Are you merely looking for the best switch out there, or do you want to try all sorts of interesting switches for the fun of it?

I was going to recommend beamspring because I think it would blow your mind, but like any other very vintage board they take a particular person. You have to be okay with a typewriter-like profile and the available layouts, paying $40+ for shipping, and finding the right one for a decent price.

I need more time on mine to decide, but I think a 3XXX metal-case beamspring would absolutely destroy my 4704 Model F. My 5251 with a plastic top case probably does too, but I'm a goddamned sucker for metal cases.

SMK switches. The blue clicky with Alps mount ("Monterey") is the most common, and very well liked - a great clicky switch.

I have not seen any really good review yet, but from what I have heard they should feel a lot like regular linear mechanical switches, such as Cherry MX.
That is plunger and a spring and no bumps, after all.

Oki Gourd switches. I have a couple of keyboards with the clicky variant and it's amazing (and I don't even like clicky switches otherwise).

Yeah Okis are pretty cool guys, I can't get enough of that funky spring shape xD . Does anyone have ANY idea why they called it a GOURD spring?!

Also, the description is wrong; there is no rubber dome in Oki gourd spring.

Yeah, they're pretty cool guys

. A tad heavy, but quite nice. The clicky sound is unique, it's related to MX blue but not annoying. Not as good as blue Alps or a Model F in my opinion, though.
