Aluminum... like nucular ?
The actual element is called Aluminium, although IUPAC also recognizes Aluminum.

I'm not sure what you're referring to precisely.
I just went with the whole kit minus switches, because I wanted to stick these ones in.

So after seeing Chyros' review I decided to give this board a try myself. I've been using it for a couple of weeks now and so far it has been working quite nicely. I have it set up in one of its offline modes where I've programmed the Caps Lock key to trigger the arrow keys on IJKL. I also have the RGB backlighting "disabled" (by setting the color to "black"). I ordered it with a blue aluminum case and without any switches or keycaps.
I have it plugged into my iPad and it has actually been the most stable USB-based keyboard I've ever connected to it. Currently I have Halo True switches on it, but they are stiffer than I expected and may swap them out for Kailh Pro Purples.

How do you connect to ipad, do you need special dongles?

Yes. You have to use what Apple calls the Lightning to USB Camera Adapter.
