Not sure. hell I don't even know if Rob is still with em. I used to be a HUGE Metallica fan but stopped really following them after reload. I did love the S&M album. Have you heard Apocolyptica's first album that was all Metallica covers? Check that one out. It is from '96 if I remember right.

I actually like a most of their covers better than the original.

There is a clip on youtube for them playing Fight Fire with Fire. And the lead guy just stands up and walks across the stage and doesn't stop playing. Now that is a little tougher to do with a cello than a guitar. Now had he done that with a full size double bass I would have been real impressed. My brother played a 3/4 sized double bass in high school. He actually picked it up and layed it across his knee attempted to play it like a guitar. It worked but the different orientation threw him way off since the necks on those are fretless.

I know, that song/album was when he was younger, I wouldn't say I don't like his newer style, it fits him imo, but it can get really repetitive.

Jus allah just sounds like he is trying too hard to be tough now though.

I also picked up Stakes Is High thanks to the giveaway but it hasn't clicked with me yet. I think I prefer their earlier, less serious style.

Seemed to be a thing back then. There was Main Source, Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul, Camp Lo, Fugees, and even Beck's first album, Mellow Gold, which has a playful vibe.
