Waateva's post made me realize the blue would go perfectly with the cyan enjoyPBT Russian set, so I may have to hunt one down. :p

Maybe consider making a Cherry profile and a lot more serious enthusiasts will be on board.I have pestered Rama on several occasions about this. He doesn't even have a cherry profile set yet, but is getting one soon!
I would probably buy one if it was in Cherry profile, but I haven't used OEM profile and don't have a set of keycaps or keyboard that uses it.
Maybe consider making a Cherry profile and a lot more serious enthusiasts will be on board.

Sorry about that "serious" comment. Serious or not, I think it would be nice to have a Cherry profile version that will match up 100% with GMK or PBT sets that are in that profile, rather than OEM profile. :)

I don't think you understand my point of view. Of course it would be alright to mix and match whatever, but if RAMA could offer us Cherry profile, then that would even be better from the end user's perspective, as you always want to have as many options as possible. Just a suggestion for him to cater to more people. :)

Thanks though man! Really hate keeping people waiting for it, I mean the enclosure has been ready to go for MONTHS now, just held up on the software side - had to change the way we're doing some things but I think it's coming close to completion now.
When I say "we" I really mean Machine Industries (I believe he goes by 27percent on the forums), he's been putting a lot of hard work to make sure that it's a painless process to program this thing and make it a smooth experience! Would love to release it as soon as possible, but, unfortunately, we're all going to have to wait until everything is ironed out and working as expected. Would never want to release a half-done product :S
I mean as it stands now, we could use existing software/programming platforms and be done with it (and it would work perfectly)- but we want to put something new in which I think people will like (and it's going to be opensource too so other members of the community can utilise it for their own purposes/projects!)plz Rama

Okay so a majority of the caps have been completed through manufacturing, but 10 or so failed quality check with the anodising - so those are going to be completely redone (will take about 2-3 days).
Then they will all be shipped to me and I will be shipping them out! Expect them to be shipped in the following 2 weeks :)[/size]The quality on these key caps is at a much higher level than R1 and I can't wait for people to get their hands on them and use it :D

Apologies all! This weekend was so flat out, been moving to a new apartment and spent the whole weekend assembling IKEA furniture and setting things up. Was hoping I'd have a chance to do it all on Sunday :(.
However, everything is now all set up and ready to go. So I'm hoping to package them all tonight and have them sent off!

ALSO! Maybe the wait was worth it! These came in today, and I'll be chucking them in with some orders whilst stocks last. This is a newer tethered USB version of the 4% PCB, so the cable wires directly into it. So no more hard to solder surface mount components! I made a mistake with the prototype where the soldering locations for the cable are VIAS that do not have pads and are simply straight-through. This won't be an issue, but it may be difficult to solder.

Controller appears to be the Atmel ATtiny85. It's an 8-pin controller with through-hole compatibility. Should be an easy build.

Hah, no worries at all man! Hope it's a fun little project for you - it's a pretty simple board to solder, especially the newer version! Note to all though, the new version has the cable going STRAIGHT into the PCB - there's no USB jack for this version. It will make sense later :))
As Nathan posted, there's a BoM (Bill of Materials) on my website through this link: http://rama.works/#/r042b/ (http://rama.works/#/r042b/) OH and make sure you program the ATMEL before soldering it on - A good idea is to get a socket for it to sit in, so you can take it in and out :)First round I regretted it. I'm not sure, I always thought that Alps switches require a plate by default, since the design of the switch body does not include any locating features for alignment (unlike MX which has a central dimple and two locating pin. I suppose if you're really careful with alignment, you could do without a plate, but I certainly wouldn't recommend it. Especially since some Alps stems fit VERY snugly, you would risk pulling the switch off the PCB when you remove keycaps if you choose to go without a plate (the only thing holding the switch to the PCB would be two solder joints)

Yeah it's a yellow Nylon base, it could be swapped out with anything really. I think the material break for the base between the Aluminium and the Nylon will be a nice touch though.
Will see how it looks with the first prototype :D

Will the switches clip into the case (like an integrated plate) or do they just slot through freely? Is the bottom flush with the top? Are you going to run a GB for the case or open source the files for people to try and make their own? Will the case work the PCB you gave us in the keycap buy? That's a very well polished top plate, did you polish the bolts as well?
Negative on the bolts. They came that way from McMaster Carr.
The surface finish was pretty rough when it came in from BigBlueSaw so I really didn't have much choice. It's not a full polish, only because I knew it would show fingerprints like a mofo. :P

I see, that's very cool. How did you get the locklights through the plate? Is it just a simple pin hole or do you have some sort of elaborate lightpipe?
