Unpopular Opinions
« on: Fri, 10 January 2020, 18:28:22 »
A thread for voicing your opinions that people might disagree with.  ;)

For example: Young people who dye their hair white/grey: You don't look like an anime character or a Witcher, it just makes you look like someone's grandparent.

This is what they're going for, buhhhh.... it only works if you're attractive to begin with.

To me cats smell like nothing and dogs stink. When you pet a dog your hand smells terrible, like a wet blanket from a swamp.

cats have no smell, but dogs do; you have to give them baths and **** and you have to take them outside to piss and ****

cats are pretty much self sufficient, give them a bowl of food and water and a catbox and they're all set

Even worse, they are needy and annoying and want to touch you with their cold wet slimy disgusting noses!
"It turns out that for a decade, whenever Trump wanted to get a loan, or make a deal, he would inflate the value of his real estate. For instance, suggesting that his 11,000-square foot penthouse was a 30,000-square foot penthouse.
And the attorney general of New York knew that Trump's property values were inflated because when it came time to pay taxes, Trump undervalued the very same properties.
It was all part of a very sophisticated real estate practice known as “lying.”

I had a client for a time who smelled horribly of cat piss, but she needed quite a bit of computer work, so I was game, and she was paying well.

However after the second visit I just couldn't do it anymore, the piss smell permeated everything, me , my tools, hell my flash drive that I was using to install basic programs off of stank, and all it did was plug in and then be put back in my pocket.

Nice lady, horrible idea of how to take care of cats.

I can count on one hand as many people I know that took care of cats enough that they didn't stink or smell like piss. I wish that number was much higher. (But it is possible.)

(...)Whereas back then I wrote about the tyranny of the majority, today I'd combine that with the tyranny of the minorities. These days, you have to be careful of both. They both want to control you. The first group, by making you do the same thing over and over again. The second group is indicated by the letters I get from the Vassar girls who want me to put more women's lib in The Martian Chronicles, or from blacks who want more black people in Dandelion Wine.
I say to both bunches, Whether you're a majority or minority, bug off! To hell with anybody who wants to tell me what to write. Their society breaks down into subsections of minorities who then, in effect, burn books by banning them. All this political correctness that's rampant on campuses is b.s.

I'm so done with POP figures, I really can't enjoy them, I feel like they make all media look the same, and like Noisy here said, manage to make them all look like Soulless "Coraline" clones of the real characters.

Yeah, could be the case.
We clean our cat's litter every day, plus we use Catsan, basically it doesn't smell at all.
Plus male cats can piss all over the place to mark their territory. Snip-snip can fix this problem
Our cat was sterilised. He occasionally shags his favourite pillow, but it also doesn't smell :thumb:
Anyway, when you smell a cat from very close, you will find out that they do not smell - their hair is very clean, cats clean themselves all the time. Cleanest pet animals I've ever seen.

I actually thought of starting a thread like this a couple days ago, but now I don't recall the opinion I wished to express.

On the topic of dogs:

I would rather take my dog outside to pee and poop than clean a disgusting ammonia box of crap.

I've had both and have gone back and forth over which I like more. I've determined that I like dogs more, and I really liked only my particular cat because he had a good personality (cat-ality?). My mom's house is finally getting tolerable in terms of cat smell after running an air purifier for a couple months straight. Dogs were selectively bred from wild species by humans, (Domesticated).  We did not Evolve together in any symbiotic form , like say, Lichen  (cyanobacteria  + fungi).

It's more akin to the situation of Cabbages where we selected for bigger softer edible leaf.

In a russian experiment, they were able to select for and create human friendly Foxes within a short few generations,  such animals took on physical characteristics of modern dog-breeds, patchy colors not of the original all ashblack species.

I knew someone would pick that apart. I was going to forego the quote and say "developed", but I liked the sentiment of the quote more. The point is they've been a part of us for a long time.

Vegans who say they're on "Plant based diets" are just vegans in denial.

There are some very important differences in the terminology.

Oreo Cookies are Vegan, Spring Rolls are vegan, Deep fried Funnel cakes are vegan.

Someone who is on Whole-Food-Plant-Based  only eats minimally processed PLANTS, excludes refined oils.

A Vegan could be into animal rights, anti-fracking, anti-drilling etc.

Someone who is WFPB, could be pro-fracking, pro arctic drilling, know nothing about animal rights, and work in any of the variety of cow-murder industries.

There IS often an overlap of ethical areas of veganism with people who are also WFPB.   That does not mean WFPB is Veganism/Vegan,  Because it is not.

Cats are superior to dogs.

dogs smell better than cats.. cat musk is unbearable.

To me cats smell like nothing and dogs stink. When you pet a dog your hand smells terrible, like a wet blanket from a swamp.

That’s such bull. Cat owners always say that they’re clean and all that but our cat loves to muck around on the recently pissed and pooped on litter box. Then she licks herself as if being covered in spit is any better. F that. Every time I bathe her ( once a week ) the water is left dark as hell. She’s also super needy , always needs to be on top of someone or she will not shut up. Not that dogs are cleaner or less needy tho.

It depends.

Do we go as far as to offend people? are controversial opinions that aren't offensive really that controversial?

Who knows....

My real life opinion on this is pretty controversial haha, but I think for the sake of being civil we should at least stop at opinions that insult something someone else can't control?

Vegan culture is very broad.

It's like saying human culture,  one doesn't agree with the majority of what's included.

The bulk of vegans are doing what they're doing for the wrong reasons and in the wrong way.

Agreed! The word "vegan" carries a connotation with it and that's why you shy away from using the word.. and I understand why. That's common with a lot of things nowadays. Good news is we're all people just trying to get healthier while achieving the best CPU/GPU benchmarks possible. :D

So they are an isolated subset of an isolated subset?

Where would you have them be?

Never said you weren't qualified to have an opinion.

The question is, how is it that NT has come to be so invested in the topic of the trans-gender social-movement.

NT mentioned it multiple times on this forum, thought it was just a passing news-reel the first few times, but it does seem NT possesses persistent interest in transgender politics.

That is the mystery Tp4 am interested in.

For example:

Tp4 never goes outside, Tp4 would never be exposed to basketball , to ask a specific basketball question, such as, which company makes the best basketball hoop nets.

If y'all guyzus ever see Tp4 ask about anything sp0rts related, Tp4 = Murdered + Accoutn Ha(ked.

Multiple times? I think it's the first time I've brought it up, but the gaming industry in the PNW has a surprising amount of LGBT people working in it. 95% of them are totally professional and know it has zero bearing on their work, ability to perform, and professional relationships.
Then there are the 5% who make everything about themselves. 100% of the time, at least in my experience, those who are self-centric and itching to file complaints always fall under the T label.

Whatever, it's an unpopular opinion, which is why it's here. Or is it unpopular because people feel scared and uneasy talking about race, politics, and sexuality at all so the very subject or having any differing opinion is considered wrong? No concepts are truly black and white.

It's a group identified by their sexual identity who are trying to get recognition, acceptance and equal rights - I'm not really sure how that's so different to be honest.

It is different though. The other letters are all groups differentiated by their sexual attraction, not their sexual identity (I get the feeling someone will say, "but sexual attraction is part of one's identity", which would seem like intentionally missing my point).

This is a whole different set of ideas that is a lot more confusing and nuanced than "I am a man who likes to have sex with men", for example, and thus slows down progress for the rest by lumping in that complexity. I think that's what he's getting at.
Maybe they're waiting for gasmasks and latex to get sexy again.

As a parent of college students in their 20s, I can tell you that "kids nowadays" are seemingly less obsessed with actually having sex than we were, and that the issues of (1) attraction, (2) activity, and (3) identity are quite distinct and important to them.

No, I do not understand it at all, even though I have tried hard, as a pure straight unadulterated unreformed "cis" male whose identity, attractions, desires, and expressions are all tightly knit, but I also understand that I do not understand this entirely different worldview that is so natural and effortless to kids today.

Fohat, except that my children are a half a generation older than yours, I could have written your comments. Why do you think there has been such a huge shift in recent generation’s perspectives? Do you think it’s biological, like chemicals in our food or the rapidly declining sperm and testosterone levels in boys? Disenchantment in the opposite sex caused by poor examples of failed relationships or an over abundance of options? The safety of living independent, virtual lives, without the messiness that comes with interpersonal relationships? Societal shifts in desired life goals? Maybe a combination of the above? I don’t know.

On a positive note, it’s  possible that this trend may self-correct the problem of over-population.

With the DS they would assume control of manufacturing planets and build an army of DS in record time using AI-controlled droids. The Imperial engineers suck compared to a couple planets full of droids. Plus IG likely would have kept upgrading and improving, creating more and more of himself until his conscious was uploaded to nearly every droid in the galaxy. He was EASILY the most dangerous bounty hunter of that time (Dirge is long dead) and if not being in the wrong place at the wrong time would have succeeded. Stupid Rebels had their plans on non-linked outdated tech on Hoth, IG would have never known they were coming unless he'd ever been on Hoth before the attack.

I hate the song Bohemian Rhapsody. I tried to like it when I was a teenager because it was the cool thing to do, but I really don't like it.

The song is trolling,  except in the 1980s in the boomers dum dum generation before internet.

The majority of modern music is of the same format.

The important question to ask is,  WHAT IS MUSIC ?

MUSIC,  is a form of (Brain) signal-gain and signal-hijacking,  identical to narcotics.

The very slight difference is, the gain is not excessively strong, such that it can be utilized to promote generally healthy information such as anti-slavery, anti-war.

In some cases, it can also be used in a therapeutic form, for amelioration of EVEN STRONGER signal hijacking/distortion/malignancy, such as actual-narcotics use, excessively stressful work environment, etc.

OUTSIDE of these utilities, music is a method of pleasure-circuitry hijacking to no fundamental good, bad, or purpose.

Tp4, piano since age 3.
