I understand if Jhoang has issues going on his real life, but how hard is it to come in here type a few sentences, let us know who's going to be responsible going forward.  After this update, I still don't have any confidence.  A lot of the stuff seems like hearsay, I haven't see proof of this gb getting back on track.

even if someone else has taken it over, i view that as mis-management of this group buy and i have lost all confidence. jhoang gave all the parts to someone unknown to this group buy in hopes they can finish the job he was paid to do? ridiculous. i dont understand how jhoang could think that is acceptable in any way. and all without so much as a word here on his or the group buy status

i put in a paypal dispute weeks ago to continue my protection, which i recently had to escalate to 'claim' due to paypal policies on how long a dispute can last without response from both parties. it does not look like jhoang has any intent on responding or creating a solution. this just further compounds my suspicions that have been growing about the fate of this endeavour. do not re-invoice me. i am out.

good luck to anyone still holding out hope on this one. i hope you dont get burned

no more hearsay because i got my E8, on my bed, i think im going to hold it tonight
everything is ready to ship except Nameplate, he's engraving nameplate, too much nameplate (1 order 1 board but 8 nameplate)
this board has a lot of options so take time for sorting because he does it alone, poor him
listen to me, prepare sw and keycap

something as monumental as handing over the groupbuy to somebody else (i assume it's kuang the assembler so at least he's not a unknown factor) happened without so much as a post informing the customers, let alone providing crucial detail like the identity of the new leader, communication channels and projected timelines.. this after customer trust was repeatedly broken prior.. poor show all around. and i can write an essay on how much mental anguish jhoang's inactivity negligence has caused us, when we're sitting here and speculating whether this or that had been shipped, whether the assembly service was canceled or not, why jhoang or the new gb leader won't come in and give us any updates to work with, and why even the other gb runner (exclusive) cannot reach them.

real shame how this wonderfully started GB devolved into an utter mess :(( i want to say thanks to kuang or whoever it is for helping this gb limp to the finish line, but this time i'll wait until everything is settled

Yea you got your board.  Where is mine and where is everyone else's?

He could have offered to ship the boards first then ship the plates and nameplates later.  I would have gladly paid double for shipping.  But the course he took was to stop responding to everyone.

I said a few pages back, I started a dispute but I really want my board. That still stands.

I can get your guy's perspective, the boards exist and some are being delivered. I hope you can understand our perspective as well. This buy is 5 months overdue (double the time it was supposed to take) and the runner has been incommunicado for ~2 months.

It would go a long way towards relieving a lot of anxiety and concern if the person(s) running the buy now would open a line of communication with us.

As others have stated,  I would love to see some official updates from thr current runner himself. Once there is proper communication, along with pictures and a first round of shipping confirmations for international orders, ill go ahead and end my disputes.i really want this board.

Hi all. My name is Hung

A man on discord ask me to post to Vietnam Mechkeys community about this group-buy. I posted it tomorrow and many comment say: "dont worry". Last night, a man in this team (the team hold this group-buy) sent me these pics and tell me he will ship in Vietnam in one or two week and then outside Vietnam. He said me told everybody dont worry.

This group buy does not involve Hung, Jelly Key. The man ask me to post is a member of Jelly Key discord. All infomation i cant verify, so i only can tell you what the man in this team told me & the pics.

Thank you & sorry about my english

I have a question for Exclusive. How come you have taken over the groupbuy for the E6-V2 to make sure people get what they paid for but have not done it for this buy which was first? Also do you know the person who has taken over this GB, have you been touch with that person? I'm not trying to attack you or anything I'm just wondering.....

E6's production hasn't started yet whilst E8 boards have already been made and Exclusive doesn't have them.

Hi everyone, I would like to make some huge update regarding the current situation of this GB

* First thing first, we should clarify who E-Team are. Basically jhoang, me and exclusive (know as exc) for short. We are not really a 3-man-show but 3 different entities coming together through QQ chat and such. E8 was originally designed and manufactured by exc. I and jhoang were like the first two participant and felt that the board was outstanding, why not going for a GB. The E-Team and E8-V1 name were jhoang’s idea. The whole operation of GB, from opening google form, collecting money and ordering are just between jhoang and exec, I was totally not involved. I’m only in charge of assembling E8-V1 for the price I have always been offering others. I consider myself as an outsource service provider. Also, I take care of the logistic from exc to jhoang.

* Why E8-V1 GB was delayed? This is the first GB ever for the team so there were a lot of unforeseen circumstances. First of all, the money was held by Paypal. The manufacturing process was delayed for 2 months due to the lack of fund. Then, jhoang had to use his own money to pay exc so the boards could go into production.
- Then, there was a flaw in plate design. Compare with the prototype, the final version got a lot of revisions by exc, one of them led to the position of the stabilisers to be a bit off. It made the metal stick touches the plate, causing unwanted sound as well as affecting the typing experience. Moreover, as exc already mentioned, due to the packaging, the name plates were scratched. The time to fix the plate and re-anodise the name plate took longer than expected as well. The plan was 2-3 weeks but ended up taking 2 months.
- After receiving the plates, I also realised that there was a little problem with the PCB causing the left Windows to malfunction. This one can be easily fixed but takes up a lot of time since each and every PCB has to be thoroughly checked.

* The status of the GB: all the parts of E8-V1 are readily at my warehouse and can be considered ready for shipment. The most tedious and time-consuming part now is engraving the name plate as ordered. I will sort the orders out as per the original list of participants (link), which is always published. I also had the list of those that need to be assembled (link). For Vietnamese orders, I have already sorted them out because there are not many and all of them will be free shipped. The sorting for international orders will be done accordingly but the shipping will be on hold until jhoang provide me with the new list. The assembly, after getting confirmation from jhoang will take 2 days for a non-tuned board and 5 days for those that need tuning. The order will be according to the position of your order.

* Main problem: I do not have the list of people who are still keen to stick with our GB and those who have already backed out through Paypal dispute. I also don’t know who paid jhoang for assembly service and who did not. And above all, I don’t have the money to assemble as well as send out your boards. I have yet to receive a single penny from jhoang.

* About jhoang: I still haven’t been able to get in touch with him to get the necessary information as well as money (as if he wants me to take care of the rest of the GB). The last thing I know, and for sure is that there is around $18,000 held up by Paypal in jhoang’s account (before the E6-V2 GB took place). Even now, I don’t think Paypal has released the money so I believe that jhoang will have to use his own money to pay up for the upcoming costs of this GB.

* So why E8-V1 GB is struggling? As I once posted and you all know, jhoang has not been communicating, making things even worse. There are even more problems as follow:
  • There are too many options for just one keyboard, leading to a lot more questions than expected.
  • Plate problem was not of a big deal but the time to fix it was. I do know some GB where the plates had more problems than this but the GB organiser ignored them and send out anyway, keeping it in the dark from participants.
  • From the perspective of some people that I discussed it with, the PCB problem was not a big deal neither. Anyone who could assemble a board by himself can fix it, but I personally don’t believe so.
  • The lack of faith from GB participants – this could be answered by yourselves.

P/S: The statements above doesn’t mean that I will be officially step up and take over this GB. What I am doing is just to help my friend, jhoang as well as all those who still have faith in our E8-V1 GB or moreover, all the keyboard lovers. My English is not good, I don’t have much time to log in GH regularly and I really can’t get familiar with the PM system of this forum so if you have any question, feel free to post a reply here. If you want to ask something more familiar, just drop me an email at eteam@kuang2.net

P/S 2: I do believe that those who backed out from the E8-V1 GB please spare jhoang and those who are still keep the faith some breathing room. The less of your pitchforks, Paypal dispute and such, the quicker E8-V1 arrive at your mailbox.

P/S 3: About E6-V2, I will give exc all my design, and ask jhoang to give him all information and money for making it faster.

Thanks for this, good to hear that you actually physically have the boards in hand. Hoping everything works out, in the mean time.. I'll go ahead and cancel my disputes to try to make it easier,

Cheers

So much ping pong going on in this groupbuy. I have been in longer groupbuy and I understand the risks and unforeseeable roadblocks involved in Groupbuy. But this is the first time since sprit I have seen a runner who is as disrespectful as jhoang. You have problem, I get it, just say something and I will wait. Instead, you bounced around your responsibilities to your so-called friends, first it was exclusive, now kuang2. Even the way you did it was in such a half-ass way. You wanted kuang2 to ship/assemble the board but you have yet to provide him with the shipping list or the assembly service list, like what the ****? So what if kuang2 now has all the boards, kuang2 even stated that he doesnt know what to do with them.

At this point I am over this buy, I just want the stupid board. I have never disputed with paypal claims because like I said, I understand the risk of GB, but I cannot tolerate undisciplined and half-ass organizer. I no longer desire the engravings or whatever ****ery related to this board.

Kuang2 if you read this I want you to know that I will pay for the extra shipping cost, just ship me my ****ing board, no engravings or any extra service needed. PM me directly and I will provide you my address and ppal info for the shipping invoice. Thank you.

I second this, I no longer want to deal with Jhoang.  My dispute is going through and will continue to go through, unless Jhoang provides some meaningful resolution for all of the GB participants.  As this is unlikely to happen, once my dispute has gone through, I will happily pay the amount, originally paid for my board, to Kuang2 and cover any additional shipping costs.

This entire buy has left quite a sour taste in my mouth.  To the people trying to help this out despite not being their responsibility, Exclusive and Kuang2, you guys are amazing and thank you for doing extra work to help the participants get their end product.

I don't think making special requests through this thread is going to help any situation or even be considered.

I will wait patiently to get a board eventually. The only thing I will say is that I really wish the choice to do the E6 was halted until these details were sorted here with the paypal and the manufacturing. I appreciate Exc. and Kuang's posts with their statuses. I really think the next step would be for someone within your "E-Team" to take over from jhoang and move this forward. Can he refund the money, and then you guys can figure out a better way for us to pay you for our boards?

How would he refund the money lol. How do you think the manufacturing/shipping fees happened. The issue at this point is likely that he has negative PayPal balance and open disputes and no way to get the money back even if he wanted to. It’s not like he can return the cases to get money for refunds.

This is why disputing in a GB early is such a huge problem. Between the cases, shipping, anodizing, reanodizing, etc, there is likely no money left to refund. As soon as 1 person disputed and his account got frozen jhoang was screwed cause he still likely needs money to complete the order. Once that happens the delays start to snowball which means more disputes which means more negative balance.

Don’t get me wrong, there is no defense for just stopping communication. But whoever it was that disputed super early likely holds a good bit of blame as well. I imagine at a certain point there were so many open disputes and negative balance all while stuck waiting for replacement parts that jhoang just gave up.

The issue now is there really isn’t a good way forward. IMO the best option would likely be to figure out what cases have been disputed and resell those. Then take the money from those sales to complete the others. I know people don’t wanna wait, but I’m not really sure how else this will be financed unless everyone just wants to spend more money.

Nah, it was more than just that. From the beginning, the original invoicing flagged his account and a third (or half) of the money was frozen. He had to put in his own personal money to push the project forward, that was very near the beginning of the buy though. Since then, issues cropped up here and there and things got worse, he even asked that people not dispute so that he can properly resolve his issues, but the disputes piled on and I *think* that his paypal got absolutely boned. I can't speculate what's going on right now, but last I heard, just a little over a month ago, he was "trying to resolve the problems". He has been MIA since then

Some of us realize there is no fund to move forward with this groupbuy, but the boards are already there, just collecting dirt. Hence a few are willing to pay shipping fee the second time to get the ball rolling again.

In fact I really do not want you to waste more money for such a GB like this. I believe in jhoang, none of your money have been stolen, we are here trying to find someway out, make GB faster. At least, 4 of your orders are on my table now, i will send them out after finish all vietnamese orders. Can you please advise me your address to my email eteam@kuang2.net

kuang2, I sent you a private message.

Please, please do not give me PM on GH :( You can email me to eteam@kuang2.net

About E6-V2: I do not talk to exc for several days, but will help him all that I can. E6-V2 will be shipped from China, not Viet Nam. I will come to help him on package and other thing. We still have some small problems: PCB (we have problem with E8 PCB, and do not want any problem on E6), money (paypal will still keep our money, for sure), ....

Last update for today: i've heard something about jhoang, being in hospital for a long time, but I'm not sure is true, will notice you later (as it happen to some GB holder before, so do not care about it...)

he means the boards that have already been disputed/refunded. and i don't think anyone of us want you to sell off your boards so we can get ours. perhaps those who have received refunds from paypal can inform kuang of the details of your orders so he knows which boards are currently ownerless.

Right, so my understanding was that a large portion of money has been frozen by Paypal, jhoang put in some of his own money to get things started... but the rest of the money which he expected to be released has not been released. That is the money I would expect *could* be refunded back to the buyers who can then pay a different person within the E-Team. Obviously jhoang needs to be reimbursed for his personal money contributed, but at least the money would get to the right people to finish up paying for all the products and services that were involved with this.

Has anyone talked with Paypal to see what their problem was? Is there some kind of documentation that needs to be provided beyond them doing some kind of check to make sure we're not funding some crime org? I dont know anything about international paypal issues.

Thank you kuang2 for giving us all a update. I have sent you a email to the address you posted here. I too am someone who has not filed a dispute and in fact my time to do so is past the 180 day so my money for this keyboard is done and is in limbo right now. I would gladly pay for shipping again to get my board and in fact I would even pay a bit more if it could help to ship someone else's board as well.
