More and more people have been reporting issues with the pcb on their M65-a boards. My best guess is that it is related to the other thing people are reporting. Static shock.
I was convinced it was because of the nylon base causing buildup quickly, and it might be. But what about the silicone feet? I was reading that rubber silicon can be conductive or not depending on how it’s made.
Just wish there was a better answer for how to not fry you $400 keyboard other than remember to discharge before you sit down or run a humidifier
This is not isolated to Rama’s projects. It happens with all of my aluminum boards. It just happens more with my m65-a
Would imagine you need them on both sides of the plate to not conduct through the screws. If so you wouldn't be able plug the USB seen as its hole is cut tight.More and more people have been reporting issues with the pcb on their M65-a boards. Would using tiny rubber gaskets to stand off the plate from the top case do anything to prevent the ESD from ruining the PCB?
Awesome! but need more render for the Lake color.
Went for Sage (dark green). But I still can't design which keyset would look good on it. Any idea guys?

Waiting for a typing test. Not sold on Integrated plates.
This is the best looking board I've ever seen. Joined as soon as the buy went up! Is this a possibility for the weight??? :eek:Show Image(https://static1.squarespace.com/static/563c788ae4b099120ae219e2/t/5a7d361271c10b289b71a7bd/1518155290476/RAMA-RAMA-HHKB-MX-GMKRAMA-01.497.jpg?format=1500w)

Maybe one of the green sets like Camping or Coniferous. Or you could go with something more muted like 9009, Classic Retro, or Muted.
There is also an optional interior weight for extra heft and resonance.

is it possible to have an optional carrying case for this?

Not at this point unfortunately - but there's a lot of cool artisan made sleeves like the ones stxfreak posted!

I have some questions, does the felt lining as shown on the early render on Instagram gonna be there? It's very nice add. And does the extra weight really matter? I've never used a keyboard that weights more than 800g (1.7lbs), I read that M60-A weights 1,5kg without the weight so it's heavy enough but i don't know, the extra wight seems nice to fill the chamber.

So that Moon looks quite dark grey from the color sample, i like it a lot!Agree'd! We had a custom bath made up for our grey :D Super happy with how it came out

It will be heavy enough without the additional weight.
Since I can’t seem to see it mentioned anywhere, does anyone know if there’s a projected timeline for manufacturing and shipping? Would something like the end of the year be a fair estimate?

Aiming for July shipment - but will have a better estimation once we begin manufacturing :)

Good job with all the renders btw.

Sorry, that should be reduced - as there is less air-room - not that it makes a ton of difference - still need to get the mic out and record a through samples with/without
Just to be clear, the layout can’t be changed at all, correct? I’m mainly concerned with the split backspace. I really like split backspace, but the sets I was going to put on don’t have r1 1u backspace keys (GMK solarized dark and GMK Led Zep)

With QMK you can just make both keys work as backspace and change the lower backspace back to backslash if you want.

I think the concern was with having the correct legend caps.

You just let that concern go and let peace wash over you. Then one night you wake with a start and realize this hobby is a weight upon your shoulders and life could be better if you just save yourself the trouble and stop buying boards. But then you say to hell with it and end up with two backspace keys labeled incorrectly.

FWIW, legends don't matter to me. I don't look at my board when I type. As long as it's aesthetically pleasing, the plastic is just there so I have something bigger to hit than that little stem.
And while your point is valid and fair, the original concern was with correct legend caps so I'm addressing it as such.

Hey. I have a question. LAKE (NAVY) and Midnight Blue, from M10-B Mechanical Mini Pad drop, is it the same color, or are they different?
I went in for Kuro because I plan on using SA Oblivion with Oblivion alphas. Now I'm second guessing if Moon was a better choice or if I should have got Hagoroma alphas like in Rama's renders.. These boards look great with any combo though

If only I could go for more colors, I went for moon to fit my GMK laser (kobe + blocknet), but I would love this Dusk also :3 ! First world problem I guess x)Mateeee, that's the ultimate combo - I'd be so content with that. Very much regret not getting in on laser :(

That's why I held off ordering moon, I was still debating if kuro or moon would be better. As soon as I saw the image of the anodization block Rama posted, I ordered moon. That grey is way darker than I thought and I really like that.
Rama, are you including your rama branded usb c cable with this?

Oh absolutely! My entire desk is getting an overhaul over the next few months and I hope what I have in mind looks nice. It's all going to be hand made by myself so I might have to find a nice camera to borrow for an evening to get good pictures, I'm going for the professional home office look haha

I need you to design a TKL, or better yet, a split keyboard similar to VE.A. I love your designs, but they are all too small for me :(.

There's a Rama TKL coming later this year which will be sold at Originative, I think? Not sure about the vendor.
I really want a Sage but so hard to find a keyset that matches with the green... and it's also not very flexible so I can't swap caps later :/I also consider sage, it is quite unique and very good looking, but I endup choosing moon wich is way more easy to associate. Sage will go nicely with any gray/beige vintage keyset I think

it depends if you want to take a classic color or an exclusive color, black and gray are beautiful but many keyboards use these colors combination, sage is much rarer and it's perfect on the Rama m-60 imho

Does Rama usually do a second round? Not sure I will have the funds to make this one but maybe in the future.
I already bought Lake but that Moon is beautiful.
Also Rama, I know I'm getting ahead of myself, but is R2 M65-A ever going to happen? I don't need it to be soon but I'd like to know whether I should wait or scour through mechmarket.

Yeah, Sage works super well with Black/White and beige/yellow-toned sets :) And can also be accented nicely with some colours :)Does Rama usually do a second round? Not sure I will have the funds to make this one but maybe in the future.

I ordered the GMK Samurai set and cant decide on colorway for the hkkb :-[ Do I go with the gray/ silver for the clean af look, or the pink with rose gold back weight. I'm scared of going pink because I think it might be too much, really leaning towards the grey or silver case and getting a extra rose gold back weight. Anyone that got this set, know which color case they are getting?
is it coming with a sound dampening liningHe mentioned that he still needs to do some sound tests to see if the lining has any noticeable effect. If it does, he’ll include it. If not, well there’s really no point.

It would be interesting indeed! Even if I will go with qmk on this one, after 3 SA keyset, time to change a little ^^
Is there any render with GMK Necro available?
I also too had question about Samurai Red.
Can anyone or Rama please comment on what colorway would match best on
- XDA Canvas Mitos
- Pulse SA Round 3?
I feel that getting Moon would be safe choice for any keysets....
Is there any render with GMK Necro available?
Any details on what is the status of GMK Heavy Industry ?
I'll do some XDA renders this weekend, including Canvas :)
Sorry for the repost, KingRama, I'm interested as to whether individual PCBs will be for sale in your store after the conclusion of the GB?

Does anybody know what the SS M# fixtures are that come with the M60-A? I'm new to the kb community, and I don't know what the fixtures are. BTW Lake is the best color! ;D ;DStainless Steel Machine Screws.
OK! I just put in my order this morning... went with Mooooooon - and the extra weight! My most expensive kb purchase (to date). It was a tough decision cause I want ALL colors. I'm a chicken and the price forced me to play it safe (I love the gray though so it's fine).

Dark red CA66 here, as well. I'm strongly considering changing my order to Moon. It's the nicest gray I've ever seen but then I'd have to wait for a different blue board for my GMK Nautilus.
@rama Should I want to change my order, do I pm you or send a support email?
Rama,Not sure if he could answer this question due to orginative being the ones who are running the TKL but if he can I'm sure he will.
Will you be using the same factory/ano source for your TKL board coming later this year? I only ask because i am having trouble deciding on an m60 color and if i knew any of these colors would be possible on the TKL i may decide different.
Specifically, i really like the Sage m60, however moon is sooooo good! If moon were to be available on the TKL then that means i could get both of the colors i like. :)

OK! I just put in my order this morning... went with Mooooooon - and the extra weight! My most expensive kb purchase (to date). It was a tough decision cause I want ALL colors. I'm a chicken and the price forced me to play it safe (I love the gray though so it's fine).
I know that feeling... stepping up from a CoolerMaster Masterkeys Pro S to a moon M60-a... Guess I'm doomed.
Indeed your dooooooomed! I start to join for a gray EXENT, thinking it will by my end game.. now I have it with also a lilac m65-a, and now waiting for Percent Canoe in silver/blue , CA66 in darkred, and m60 in moon ;D
Dark red CA66 here, as well. I'm strongly considering changing my order to Moon. It's the nicest gray I've ever seen but then I'd have to wait for a different blue board for my GMK Nautilus.
@rama Should I want to change my order, do I pm you or send a support email?

is it possible to have an optional carrying case for this?
Not at this point unfortunately - but there's a lot of cool artisan made sleeves like the ones stxfreak posted!
Here are some dimensions useful for getting a sleeve made:Show Image(https://i.imgur.com/AOmnQ3X.png)Anyone see or know of some good renders of Dusk with some keysets?Any keysets you're interested in seeing specifically? :)

Janglad made a render of SA Royalty on the M60a in the dusk colorway. (dusk master race!)
If only I could go for more colors, I went for moon to fit my GMK laser (kobe + blocknet), but I would love this Dusk also :3 ! First world problem I guess x)Mateeee, that's the ultimate combo - I'd be so content with that. Very much regret not getting in on laser :(

Is the dusk color really that dark or is it more pink? NEED TO KNOW. If it looks like this, I'm changing my mind on color for it.

Wait KingRama, is Moon + Laser the ultimate combo or Dusk + Laser? I need to know... for science :P

I've seen those pics, but I'm curious to what Rama thinks is the ultimate combo.

Here are what keycap sizes you need, also some dimensions for people wanting to make sleeves/wristwrests etc:It's a little tough to calculate based on the this picture but what is the total height from desk to the top of the R1 GMK keycap?Show Image(https://i.imgur.com/hpG6IVC.jpg)

I need.
I thought it was Coniferous, but that has grey mods.
Also nice to see a Taro set in there ;)
A lot of those keyset renders look REALLY muted/faded/pastel... I wonder if the board colors will be a bit darker in person, too?
I got a green, and I'd LOVE if it was a closer match to Nuclear Data :o

Blue PVD is my favorite color.
It's reminiscent of a finely-crafted watch.
Nice! Any idea what the new GB deadline will be? I'm still trying to make up my mind on color.
Moon and Gold would look so good together. Moon with Gold sunken lettering :cheffingers:
Rose or gold weight for red samurai?

Secondly is it confirmed the GB end has been pushed back and not tomorrow?
We have extended the groupbuy until the end of the month to show off the revised moon prototype and various typing video's - we're super excited to show off all the LED features and feedback this keyboard provides.

So I'm thinking that for my Lake M60-A I may pair it with the SA Abyss keycaps. What do y'all think?? I would love to see that in a render if anyone could do that.

You should get a moon weight to go with that, would probably look sick.
Feel like GMK Yuri would look fantastic on the Lake color.

I already am in for the internal weight so maybe I will pick one up at a later date if Rama has any extra external weights. Currently my pockets beginning to run dry from all the kb purchases I have made recently.
As for GMK, I recently got into this hobby and I believe GMK only make cherry profile switches? I have tried cherry profile switches before and I didn't care for the sharp edges, or the real narrow keycap tops. So far I like DSA and I recently bought SA Solarized for the Lake M60-A, but I also really like the color palette of SA Abyss and I would assume that uniform row 3 SA would just be like a tall DSA. If y'all have any experience with uniform SA please let me know your thoughts.

I think that what you mean by "Cherry profile switches" is key caps in Cherry profile, if then, the answer is yes, GMK only manufactures Cherry key caps. SA and DSA key caps are made by Signature Plastics in the US. SA key caps in uniform profile feel close to DSA, but the taller height and larger weight makes typing on them different. Just for the record, keyboard switches are the actuators under the key caps.

Do you think black M60 would look good with LedZep keycaps? better than moon?

When is pre order end if i still want to change the color? I chose Moon because it's the safest color to pair with any keycaps but it is boring imo. Dusk and Lake are just too god irl.
What happened with the switch holes on the grey one? :D
How did you end up using flat head screws? I hate those more than any :(

I didn't see any samples if the Mist color? Is it supposed to be the same as the macro pad on the left? That is to say, will it be shiny instead of matte like the other cases?
Will there be better daughter board cables for production units?I came here to ask this too.

They were revised from the first prototype. Now they touch the switch more on the left/right sides, all the way to the corners.

Hello, you still don't have renders for SA keysets ? At least from above to asses color matching, like Carbon SA, Miami SA, Dasher SA with Lake, Troubled Mind SA with sage....
The easy choice would be the grey but I have yet many cnc grey cases...

Does the PCB fit standard sixty cases?
This is a keyboard that I'm hoping would last me a very long time. So, lets say I fry the pcb down the line, are there readily available alternate pcbs that would work/fit with this case if spares of the original were no longer available? Or would it more or less become a very beautiful, but expensive paperweight?
Sorry for the repost, KingRama, I'm interested as to whether individual PCBs will be for sale in your store after the conclusion of the GB?
We always buy extra PCB's to stock on-hand for support/replacement related things, but these are typically not available for immediate purchase through the site. For instance we have about 30-40 spare M6-A PCB's at the moment :)

I was thinking about the possibility of the vendor no longer being able to provide a replacement pcb, say in 2-4 yrs. At this price, I'd like to know whether any alternate 60% pcbs would be a viable option, or if the design of the case makes that impossible without some kind of modification.

Rama being around in 2-4 years does not necessarily mean the pcb will still be around as well. Tbh, I had the same concerns, but then I realized the only reason I'd need a pcb is if there was some sort of manufacturing fault that caused the pcb to die out in let's say 2 years. Then again, if my garbage razer made it for 2 years, I have no reason to think that the m60a would last me any less.

The PCB's will be continued to be made, some of our products down the line will be using the exact same PCB :)

I've seen a couple of people mention frying their pcb with static electric discharge. I get that pretty bad in the winter where I live, and with this being an all metal case, it seemed like something I should consider.
Also, aren't these hot swap pcbs a relatively new design? Someone please correct me if I'm wrong. But if so, the durability of the hot swap feature may not yet be proven. In which case, it might well become necessary to find a replacement.
The static charge issue was with the m65a and is believed to be a result of the nylon base, which isn't a problem for this kit.

You are right in that long term consumer testing has not been done with hotswap pcbs. I would imagine, just like with everything else, there will be wear and tear over time as you take out switches and replace them. How many times of switch switching will it take until the tolerance becomes too loose and a good connection isn't made with the switch pins? I don't think anyone knows the answer to that. I would like to believe that kailh has tested this and wouldn't release this technology unless it could handle over 100 times of taking a switch out and putting it back in.
Nonetheless, Rama said he will continue supporting the pcb, and Mike from novelkeys also sells the kailh hotswap sockets indicidually. So future proofing is definitely available. My mind is at complete ease now.
That's great news Rama, thanks for chiming in. It definitely puts my mind at ease now :)
One last question, I'm wondering if you could chime in on what percentage of total orders include an internal weight? I don't need an exact percentage, anything off the top of your head will suffice. I'm having a hard time deciding so I figure I would just go with the popular vote.
I just placed my order 20 mins ago, didn't want to cut it to close to GB deadline and not be able to get my order in at all. Ended up watching his YouTube video and I didn't notice a huge difference in acoustics, which is what I was mostly concerned about. So I didn't get the internal weight and decided to save the money for some keycaps to go with my board :)

When i asked, which was end of march to be fair, but then the number was about 60%.
I thought about this for some time too. But i ended on getting the internal weight because i really like a hefty board and i wanted to make this board as luxurious as possible :D

Looks like the PCB will support PCB mounted switches?
I submitted my order for an M60-A a week or two ago. I'm wondering if I buy the starter kit now, what's the best way to not pay twice for shipping? Or will the starter kit be available longer than the normal group buy?
Hello, do you have any renders (from above and isometric) with SP SA keysets (for instance Carbon SA with Dusk, Dolch SA with Sage or Dasher SA with Lake) ?
Hello, you still don't have renders for SA keysets ? At least from above to assess color matching, like Carbon SA, Miami SA, Dasher SA with Lake, Troubled Mind SA with sage....
The easy choice would be the grey but I have yet many cnc grey cases...

The GB will conlcude some time today, probably aus time. Rama unfortunately had some unexpected family stuff coming up on the weekend, so he wasn't able to make his video or renders (I asked him for his vid over instagram and this was his response). I don't know if we will get any more renders or the video until the deadline, but I also think he has already done quite a lot, even though there wasnt a specific SA render I know of. There are still the files to do renders on your own if you really have to have them, not saying that is something you should have to do.
Finally got that time to make the video (with SA too!)
Only 6 hours left until the GroupBuy concludes :)
Here is an imgur album from a photo shoot /u/phatskin posted on r/mk, if anyone is still not sure if they want this beauty :)

Is there a way to completely turn off the lighting on this board?
Is there a way to completely turn off the lighting on this board?
Since I'm new to this, what will I have to do to program the keyboard with QMK?
Will there be some kind of repository support for this pcb, as I have seen with other boards?
Also, will a firmware download be necessary, or is it all pre-loaded?
I don't own a windows machine, so if a download is necessary, will it be available for mac/linux?
So stoked for this! Looking forward to following the whole process now until it finally arrives. The color options in this drop were really good looking! Would be really interesting to see statistics of how many were sold of each color.

Can anyone identify a couple of keycap sets I saw in some of the renders here?
set 1: all white caps for both alphas and mods, with black legends
set 2: white alphas with black legends, black mods with white legends
I thought those two looked really nice with the Moon case and I'm trying to figure out if they are real sets that can be bought, or just nice renders.

First should be gmk stormtrooper, second could be oblivion with white alphas and the monochrome modifiers.

Thanks! Too bad it doesn't look like either of these is available anymore. I may end up with a naked board at this rate. I'd really want to get something like that all white caps, or white with black mods in both GMK and in SA. That's pretty much my vision for the Moon case. Not yet sure how to fulfill it since I'm new to this. Worried I may have to wait a couple of years for the right SA set given how long production seems to take right now.

Nice, thank you!
Can you tell if the base set for sale there would fit the m60-a?
I've pretty much lost my mind trying to sort out what's necessary in the various SA set group buys I have been looking at. GMK looks simpler because it often seems to have a lot more options bundled in the base set.
And is that pretty much standard market rate for a comparable set in GMK?
1 x backspace = 1.5u
Nice, thank you!

Where did you get info? It's still 16 weeks for new buys.
Is that GMK Pristine set as bright white as it sounds? The photos look like it, but I read a couple of reviews that complain about it being more of a dull, off-white color. Which would be fine for a lot of builds, I think, but maybe not quite matching the look of that stormtrooper set?
I know I'm being kind of particular, but I think it's warranted for a board as nice as this. Plus, you know, I can't really afford to buy 3 or 4 sets hoping for just the right shade.
Maybe I should ask this in the keycaps forum? Don't want to derail things here, but maybe there's also room for fantasizing about what look we want for the M60-A we're all waiting for now? I'd certainly like to hear what everyone else is planning.
To add to that, GMK Blue on Black was delivered to the vendors in something like 4 weeks after payment.GMK leads are around 6 to 8 months now

I too got the M60-A in Lake! What keycaps and switches are you going to use in your build?

So, I ordered the M60-A in LAKE (NAVY) color, with starter kit. Black Alphas, turquoise Zambs and other necessary kits (like Text Hobbyist, Novelties, 7U Spacebars) from SA Pulse R3 drop. And of course violet "Mitolet" kit. I hope all of this together will look great! It only remains to buy a pair of themed cables.

Kaihua does pretty thorough stress testing on all their products. I wouldn’t have any concerns with their durability.
Does that mean I can replate my switches approximately 100 times?
Final sale count?

I got the same lol. But i got rams + icon hobbyist instead. Can‘t wait to see how this’ll look.
Thanks to everyone that has participated in this Group Buy!
We are now beginning production this week for the M60-A - looking forward to showing off the packaging and other things we have been working on in the background - a sample is in production now for that.
Here is a division of which colours where most popular:
MOON 32.06%
SAGE 17.56%
LAKE 17.30%
KURO 12.85%
MIST 10.69%
DUSK 9.54%
Looking forward to shipping these out in the following months and seeing them on peoples desks :D
Will be posting updates as various components are finished :)

What was you expectation Rama, regarding the orders in the different colors?
Guess Moon was a safe choice for you? And the other colors?

Any word on quantity? Did you sell more than tokyo60 (~600)?
I wrote a stupid script using the percentages provided above as input, and, according to that, the most plausible total number was 786.
How does this script work, uses maximum likelihoods? Probably better to pm me, I'm interested!Any word on quantity? Did you sell more than tokyo60 (~600)?

I said to Rama, let's release percentages to 2 decimal places and see if anyone could be bothered working out a total number from that. But first, let's fudge the numbers so the actual total isn't revealed.

Calculated the number for sage gives me 138.02 units sold, or am I missing something(brain cells)?

Mostly everything is now put into production :)
Custom feet: Paid and put into production
Internal cable: paid for production and awaiting new sample (shorter and sleeved)
Switches: paid for through NovelKeys
Stabilisers: paid for through GMK
USB-C cables: to be done
PCB's: Awaiting production
Cases: In production; awaiting payment
We have a new timeline for production to finish: Late August.
At this point we are looking at fulfilling throughout September (we will have more accurate timelines as we move along)
Cheers :)
Custom feet: Paid and put into production
I have seen few M65 build videos where they struggled to attach those custom feet to bottom of case. Custom feet were too wide :(Which videos were those?

thanks for the update. i have a question regarding shipment. I won't be at my country around late August - late September. Is it still possible to change shipping address?Yep! Just reply to your most recent order confirmation email with your new address :)
These ones are a little different to the M65 feet - they just sit into one cavity whereas the M65 one's sort of pop into individual cavities - there's also a through hole on either-end and the center - so you can pop it out quite easily as well :)Custom feet: Paid and put into production

Honestly, after seeing their fixed legends, which mind you some are fixed, I'm just still not impressed. The m60 is a premium kit. It's not your run of the mill tray mount GB that pop up every now on them on GH. I've already spent $400 on the kit now, I would much rather spend another $110 on a gmk set than $70 on a JTK set (keeping in mind these won't be full sets hence lower prices listed).JTK Heavy IndustryAny update on Gmk Heavy industry?

Isn't the title of the keyset at https://rama.works/#/gmk-heavy-industry/ (https://rama.works/#/gmk-heavy-industry/) "GMK Heavy Industry"?? Maybe remove the "GMK" text from the title if the set isn't going to be GMK to avoid confusion.
That is a variation of it, the new one is actually very different with the legends etc, so will be leaving that one for now :)
Could it be novelkeys new profile? :eek:Oh shiettttttttt.
Will the firmware for the M60-A be available on GitHub?
I've at least found some firmware for the M6-A (https://github.com/qmk/qmk_firmware/tree/master/keyboards/rama) that also hints to the M60-A being listed there sometime in the future.
So is there any plan on when this will happen? Would be awesome to have the ability to fully customize the keyboard.
Yes, the PCB design is based on the Zeal60 (which uses QMK) and I'm in the process of refactoring it and getting it into QMK master branch.Awesome! Can't wait to get my hands on that board
Right now, it's still in my QMK fork here: https://github.com/Wilba6582/qmk_firmware/tree/zeal60

Yes, the PCB design is based on the Zeal60 (which uses QMK) and I'm in the process of refactoring it and getting it into QMK master branch.

But then again I would like to know the answer
I write in two languages and use graphic software and a lot of keyboard shortcuts. So I need a few layers.

Everyone needs to go check out Rama's IG story! Packaging looks absolutely tits!
with it being based on the zeal60, is it going to use the scripty configuration method (vs the "normal" QMK build-your-keymap method)?

After seeing this, I now care about this box.
Did just the pre-sale end or was this the only chance getting this case?
I know, but since it's called pre-sale in the shop I wasn't sure if there will be another sale later.I recall RAMA mentioning probably a R2 but not for a very long time.
Potentially at some point, but won't be for a longgg while - and most likely not in the same colourways.

I bought one without ever using the hhkb layout. I’d imagine others have done the same. If we can’t get used to it or don’t like it, there will probably be some posted
I didn't order an extra back weight, but I'm wondering if there will be any extras available once production has been completed.

Hey guys, thanks so much!!Please say keycaps please say keycaps!
I've been out of the office for the past week, but there's some stuff waiting for me at the warehouse - will show it once I return to Melbourne next week!
Can't wait to show some of the stuff we've been working on for this project :D

Nice to see you chose ePBT for Heavy Industry : )Looks like a design choice, it suits his logo on the Esc key.
If I had to nitpick though, from the pictures the mod legends seem bold in comparison the alphas and your renders of GMK Heavy Industry.

Maybe it's a mistake but what do I know
Nice update, Rama!
Any chance you can post an IC for heavy industry in the IC section so that we can give feedback for it seperately rather than have 2 things going on in 1 thread?

I can live with the typeface on the mods, it's not a make or break deal for me. I do agree, however, that it is just a touch too think and I think it would look much better if it was slightly thinner. For example, I think this would make a big visual difference on back space, which as it currently stands is too overwhelming and distracts from the rest of the set. I also miss the darker modifiers, but at the same time like the lighter ones too. Maybe there could be an option to sell dark modifiers as a kit?
With the yellow accents, I feel like they were designed to match the yellow on the inventory packaging. It's close, but I think it's just a bit too warm with a bit too much orange mixed in. I also think the gmk yellow was too cool, so maybe something in between with a bit less orange?
Oh right, completely forgot this would be dye sub. Good call. Maybe a similar method of reverse dye sub that was used on dsa starry night could be implemented? Probably not though eh, since that set wasn't manufactured by epbt.I can live with the typeface on the mods, it's not a make or break deal for me. A problem with darker modifiers is that since this is dye-sub they can't use white ink. So if you want darker modifiers the letters will then have very little contrast.
I have been thinking. Would it be easy to make the m60 Bluetooth? I would think that you can make a module between the pcb and usb-c bridge. This way you don't have to solder on the pcb itself and when unmodding it without leaving 'scars' on the stock contents.

I dont know if there would be enough space for that, with internal weight at least rama told me there is about 2-3mm space. The material would probably be the bigger difficulty, as probably neither alu or brass will work that well with bluetooth.
Is there any hope for the poor lost souls that missed the GB?

id be okay with either. If anyone is interested, feel free to pm me!I have a Sage spot with internal weight I'd like to sell. Although not sure how this would work?
I believe that the fairest thing to do would be to (option 1) refund the full order to RAMA, and RAMA later sells the board at cost.
(option 2) You can transfer the spot to someone who is interested, at cost. Ideally it should all be done at the exact cost of purchase.

The Interior Weight, PCB and Extra Weight packaging is en-route - will have photos once it arrives! A large majority of the bases have been machined (essentially all), and about 1/4 of the top enclosures have been machined. Will have a post up on http://updates.rama.works with photos etc when things come in :)

At least for now you can make a clone that might look close to it.
You'll need GMK Oblivion white alphas/GMK Honeywell alphas and Oblivion Monochrome modifier kit.
The yellow accent (fn, ctrl) if you want it, you can use yellow keys from GMK Serika later when it shipped.

RAMA,
Seeing all of this unfold is very exiting, you guys have done amazing work and it's obvious a lot of passion has gone into this (as with all of your projects) — September can't come soon enough!

My apologies if this is a silly question, but is there not a risk of the PVD coating getting scratched from rubbing against the packaging?
Also that second pic... Are you cheating on the Xiaomi Wiha with iFixit? :p

Honestly, I don't know if I'm more excited for the M60a or for the new stabs in development.
Not a silly question! The hardness of the PVD coating is much higher than the plastic so it will not scratch it - however we will be doing some significant testing and throwing around to double check :PGotcha!
Hahah! Of course not, the Wiha is still my favourite - using the iFixit for the bigger hex screw (Wiha didn't have the right size :-[ )Yeah — the 3mm hex is the one bit missing from the Wiha kit for me. I wish there was one included.
Yeah, I'm super excited for the stabs too, super fun to mould new things :D Keen to test the next proto when it arrives so can quickly move to production!I'm exited to see how your stabilizers turn out too. I'd love to put some in the M60!
What's the timeline like for the stabs? Will I be able to put them in the M60 when it comes?
What's the timeline like for the stabs? Will I be able to put them in the M60 when it comes?
Not Rama, but I doubt it. He's still in development stage. Personally, I'd rather it come out a bit later and have it be closer to perfect. Hopefully pricing won't be too bad either. Would be nice to have an alternative to zeal stabs which are almost prohibitively expensive. Also, since the M60 is hotswappable, it shouldn't be too big of a deal to throw the stabs in when they do come out.

Yep, all correct there! Development will be a little longer on the stabs so we won't meet it in time for the M60-A but it is super easy to swap out new ones when the time comes :)

I could be wrong but I believe atmega32u4 chips don't support USB c to USB c connections since they solely use USB 3.1. So the pcb won't recognize that port when plugged into a computer. Why so?. So far as I know the usb - A and C port size and form is usb-version agnostic, it depends what wireing the cable has. A slot opened up and I'm in boyzz. Moon + terminal. Can't wait for it to ship.
I have a Mist slot if anyone is interested in taking it.

Congrats man, thanks for letting me know and arranging the swap, The moon will be awesome with terminal/oblivion/HFO.
As for my Sage, now my GMK 9009 will have a nice home ;D :thumb:
No problem! Glad to help. Rama made the process painless.
Just wanted to confirm my understanding; we would still need to get stabs, switches, and keycaps to complete this build?
Out of curiosity, what switches are everyone getting? I've ordered 67g zealios :) Does anyone have recommendations for stabilisers? Are cheap ones just as good as more expensive ones? Will any cherry stabilisers be compatible with this?

I'm planning to use Halo true stem in Outemu Sky housing switches, a much cheaper alternative of Holy Panda :D. Already build some tester of it and I really like it.

I tried it and I was underwhelmed. I didn’t find them nearly as tactile as the stock items stem.. I feel like these aren’t true trues that I have..

Hum, that's strange. FYI, I use the Halo stem with Clear Non LED hole Outemu top, along with Sky bottom, 68gr spring. IMO other outemu tops or the ICE bottom are not as good, as well as if I use 62gr instead of 68gr.
I compared it side by side with HP on a switch tester, not on a full board though..
Hope it will sounds good on M60-A, It's not as clacky as HP but from all outemu housing combination, the one that uses Sky bottom and Non LED top is the best IMO. One thing that I don't like, It's just feel a bit scratchy no matter how i tried to retool and lube them.
For the purposes of a wrist rest, how wide is the board?

Stepped caps on HHKB layout is illegal.
Has Rama released any timeline info on stabs? I’m sure it will be a while, but I’d love to put some on my new M60-A.

Anyone have any insight on stabilizers? I've read good things about zeal stabs and costar. Is this build meant to be used with PCB mount screw-in stabs?

You need PCB mount stabilizers, yes.
Most people think that GMK Screw-in stabilizers are the best stabs available right now.

I love GMK screw-in stabs, but I'm a little wary of them since I read that someone shorted their board out from the screws going through the PCB hitting their metal case. Pretty sure all my boards have plenty of clearance, but still freaks me out a little bit...

That's usually if the PCB isn't designed that well. Shouldn't be a problem on this PCB in particular because:
1. Wilba designs good PCBs.
2. Pads are generally not exposed due to the kailh sockets.
If you are really worried you could just use some nylon washers.
Speaking of PCB's, they're in our warehouse! I'll take some photos tomorrow :) The finish came out much better than the prototype ones and are very matte now :D
Dropping off a box to Wilba tonight :D
I wonder if this will ship before TM gets the packaging in for their keyboards. LOL
If someone decided they aren't interested, I'm looking to take their spot!http://m60.iwantrama.works/
Not picky on color either.

Hey guys! So sorry, was supposed to post the photos the other day but have been caught up book-keeping for the past couple of days (and still going), just want to knock it off before I write-up something for the updates page :(
I'll post these for now!Show Image(https://i.imgur.com/cXePN3I.jpg)Show Image(https://i.imgur.com/1QVGbVN.jpg)

Finally got around to getting some time to write up some things in the updates blog [now Proto(Type)]
Check it out here: https://rama.works/prototype/2018/8/20/m60-a-seq-4-m6-b-wave-seq-2 (https://rama.works/prototype/2018/8/20/m60-a-seq-4-m6-b-wave-seq-2)
My god those PCBs are gorgeous!
Thanks for the update. The PCB looks really nice. You mentioned that a few enclosure colors have already been completed. Will you be receiving them beforehand so we can see some sweet pics?
just grabbed an M6-B to match my M60-A in Moon! I think it will be a nice combo...
Is this a case for 60%? Still possible to get? :)
I am interested in getting a Yarbo cable for this build. I’ve heard worrying things about the connector being so heavy that it could damage the USB port on the PCB. The case on the M60-A looks like it might reinforce this port a bit. Do you think this is the case or is it still potentially a problem?

Hard to say, but should be fine given that circular part of the cable fits into the recess - else the new cable included with the M60-A will be metal (it's arriving next week - will show it then!)
Is the schedule on time for m60-a? Will it be shipped the end of next month? Just can't wait to get it.Yeah! Should be around the end of September :) All the enclosures are just being anodised batch by batch right now :)
Didn't realize a cable was going to be included! :D What's the length of the cable?
1.5M :) Just gotta get it released from customs and I'll have some photos !

Hey Rama, are there any extra internal weights being produced? Any way of getting my hands on one for my order?
another question, I would like to purchase a second PCB, any chance?

Yes, the PCB uses QMK.
If a PCB uses QMK, that implies that the code is released on github for people who want to modify it, compile it, flash it any way they choose.
So it does answer your question.
But if you want an answer from the guy who designed the PCB and writes the firmware, YES, you can do what you want.
cool then, thanks

Thanks!

Dielectric grease is great for stabs. Some people use 205 as well, but might be a bit more expensive.

Somewhat off topic.. but which stabilizers in your opinion are the best/smoothest? I have a set of Zeal's screw-in stabs but I saw that GMK released screw-in stabs as well. Which would you recommend?

Zeal/GMK are about the same when properly modded imo. Nothing else worth considering rn.
I gotcha, also just found this video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cD5Zj-ZgMLA) which seems to be a really good tutorial on stabilizer modding. Thought it would be helpful to throw it up here because I saw some other questions about stab lubing!

Just to confirm this, as I ordered a internal weight a couple of weeks ago. Just reply to your order confirmation email that you received after you placed your order for the m60. I just asked for an internal weight if they had any extras because it does seem to be based on allocation, as Rama mentioned.Just asking, will it be possible to buy internal weight at this point or maybe after gb is concluded? I read Rama's reply as "Just reply(ied) to your order email...", I'm assuming you did too. He's saying that you can reply to your original order confirmation email. I had to do that as well to change my color selection and he responded pretty quickly.
Yep, I added a weight just this morning. Quick reply to my email and I've already paid the new invoice. Also, am I the only one who ordered the mist color? lol. Oh well, I think it's gonna look nice.
I’ve never typed on a thick integrated plate before. How would it affect the sound of switches? Would it make them louder or would the rigidity dampen it? Also the description says milled from brass and aluminum. The plate is aluminum, correct? Finally, would there be any room for a foam liner to dampen the sound or are the tolerances too tight?

It'll return!
When discussing with Wilba, he told me what you will be able to fit will depend on whether you have an internal weight or not. With the weight, it will be a tight fit (most of the space available being at the back of the case)?

Gah.. got a weight. Hopefully I can still make it fit. I want to silence this thing as much as possible given that it’s my work board.
Can't wait to receive my board

Yep!
Just a quick update, so all colors are now anodized and the packaging is on the way to our manufacturer - they will do an initial packing of the main boards and promptly sea-freight it to us.
Sea freight will take 2-3 weeks, and we'll do final assembly and packaging here then ship in batches of colour and country :) Still have to get around to posting some pictures and writing up more of an update on our site but that's where we're at right now!
Cheers :)

Just wondering, do we have to use transparent switches in order for the LED's to shine through? Most definitely. Switches like regular Cherries only have tiny holes for the LED leads to go through. I doubt you’d get a significant amount of light through those. You’ll either want a fully transparent switch or an opaque bottom that has an SMD cutout with a transparent top.

I've used regular, non-transparent switches in a backlit RGB board in the past and no light comes through.

I never thought about this.. What clicky switches exist with transparent bottoms? I heard the box switch issue still hasn't been fixed either.

Off the top of my head, you could most likely find or make the following RGB clicky switches in my order of preference:
Kailh heavy pale blue
Kailh pro light green
aristotle stem in a clear housing (could use aliaz, zeal, otemu ice) would put these higher up but I hate having to add plastic wrap to the stems to keep the keycaps from falling off
Cherry blue
Kailh speed gold
Gateron blue
Kailh blue
Cherry RGB version of most of their switches:
http://www.epathbuy.com/product/cherry-mx-mechanical-switches/
You would probably have to do a spring swap in the blue if you wanted greens (putting a heavier spring in the blue housing)
Gateron smd bottoms that would let a lot of light through:
https://www.1upkeyboards.com/shop/switches/gateron-clear-top-smd-switches-blue/
Non-box Kailh switches that are RGB compatible:
https://novelkeys.xyz/collections/switches/products/kailh-switches
https://novelkeys.xyz/collections/switches/products/kailh-pro-switches
https://novelkeys.xyz/collections/switches/products/novelkeys-x-kailh-speed-heavy-switches
https://novelkeys.xyz/collections/switches/products/kailh-speed-switches
This may have been addressed already, but what's the deal with the Box Royals? I've been seeing a lot of discussions surrounding the tolerance levels of the box stems, cracking/stretching key caps, etc. It doesn't look like they've managed to fix the issues yet. I am going to be putting my most prized key caps on the M60 so if there's any chance at all that these switches are going to cause any damage whatsoever, I'll find new switches to put on it.
Which leads me to my next question.. I know it's largely personal preference, but what are considered to be the "best" switches these days? I'm considering Zealios/Zilents but am also thinking maybe about the normal Cherry MX Brown RGB's. Thoughts?
Any additional photos from @imprevade ? (Specifically, different colors?)
His post felt like the first realistic look at the M60-A tbh.
The new adjusted stems (with the revised/smaller nubs), while better, are reportedly still problematic. I'm not sure how many people have issues vs how many do not, but the latest round of "fixed" stems are supposedly causing stress fractures in some keycaps, which over time could crack completely, or at the very least, cause the keycaps to not fit other stems correctly anymore. There was a decent amount of drama in various MD drop discussions that seems to have died down recently.
This is the discussion on GH I just finished reading through as well.

I saw those Aliaz switches the other day, they look neat! I'll have to check them out. Thank you!!
Let the month of October end with joy and start November with a new toy :D :D :D lol so excited!!Hahahaha yes! ;D ;D ;D
I deleted the order confirmation email, where should I send my phone number

Something definitely to be wary of, I haven't personally had any issues on my end.
Definitely check the Aliaz out! There's something about them I really like ;D
---
ALSO! As we'll be shipping in a few weeks, could everyone please check that the shipping address they have used is correct? And, if you haven't included a phone number in your order, please reply to your order confirmation email with the one! DHL Express requires a phone number, so it would be best to include it! I didn't realise at the time that I had not made it compulsory at checkout :( But yes, please reply direct to order confirmation, both for adding a phone number and changing your address (this is important as it'll be added to our ticketing system!) If there's no need for any changes and everything is correct, no need to reply to the confirmation email. EDIT: You will have to log in and check on your account to see if the phone number is there or not on the order, it is not included in the order confirmation email, please check before sending a support email!
Past that, thank you all for your patience! We'll let everyone know the shipping schedules once we get the stock in so we can plan accordingly. At this stage, there's not too much to update on as we wait for the freight-shipment to come in, we'll spend some time clearing the warehouse and making space for the pallets for arrival. Everything else is ready to go on our end, with the PCB's all tested and programmed! We'll have to spend a day or so packing the internal weights/extra back weights once they arrive also.
Cheers!
Hi Rama,
I just replied to the confirmation mail, sent my phone number, but I got a reply email with the title "RAMA WORKS user activation"
url is: https://ramaworks.freshdesk.com/register/(hash_here (https://ramaworks.freshdesk.com/register/(hash_here))
I am confused, because I already have a user account.
Or should I create one on https://ramaworks.freshdesk.com (https://ramaworks.freshdesk.com) too?
Phone number sent :o
This is the first board I've ever bought that I've had a keyset sitting unopened waiting for it to get here (GMK Camping, going to look SO hot with the sage!)
I've been whittling down my cache of cheap 60%'s, right now I've only got an AEK64 and a nice KBDfans 5* build I can't seem to let myself sell, so I'm super pumped to get another 60% back in the rotation!
Phone number sent :oNice choice! That's the exact same setup I'm going for :p

Can't wait to get the M60-A. Still can't make up my mind on what keyset to put on it though D:
Shipping address and phone number have verified on the site. :thumb:Perfect, cheers :D
Hey everyone!
The container will be docking on the 1st of November according to Port Schedules (big boats are slow!), there will be some time (about a week) for it to be cleared through customs and freighted to our warehouse. From there we'll be packing every day to ensure that we can get them out as soon as possible. I'll keep everyone updated with further news as it happens :) For now, time to clear some racking space in the warehouse.. :))

Can anyone confirm what size spacebar is needed?
7u like most all other MX HHKB layouts.
is it mid/late november yet? ???
I'm sure I've missed this somewhere, but is the PCB QMK compatible? Is it shipped with a stock layout? If it is, what do the layers look like?
This may sound stupid, but this will be my first board in the HHKB layout. So for Windows users how would you do the CTRL+ALT DELETE command on the default layout? Or would you need to configure that as a QMK command/sequence?
Anybody who are willing to sell their spot to me?
Did you PM ye_cole, who just posted right above you?
Good luck finding your M60-A!Anybody who are willing to sell their spot to me?

Yes I did! Thank you very much for the words! I missed the GB and fully regret not to join to this great board.

Does Rama usually do a second round? Not sure I will have the funds to make this one but maybe in the future.
Potentially at some point, but won't be for a longgg while - and most likely not in the same colourways.

@Rama If less than year is considered as longgg time for between R1 and R2. That timeframe is even shorter than re-run of keycaps.
How nice of you to pull the rug from R1 buyers.
I am not in the stance of against new buyers but if you are going to make statements as such to make your keyboard seem exclusive and limited but then change it later, its kind of a bait and switch. At least thats how I see it. Had I known R2 was just going to be a year later, I might not have joined R1. Just saying.
YUP! Very very excited to see these out to everyone!! Will update once the container arrives to our warehouse, we need to make some space to fit all these :-X

I am not angry against new buyers but, I guess, I had a different assumption for the definition for lonnng time before r2. That was just the point I was getting at.
I apologize for any hostility that came across as that was not the intent.

Yay! My body is ready, everything is ready. I have Holy skies switches and GMK Camping waiting for the Sage to go camp together :p :D
I know it's early but, thanks for all this update and superb communication Rama!
Hope it stay smooth like this until everyone gets their boards. :)
The wait is almost over! Still have not decided whether to put Pulse or Laser into Lake 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
GMK Camping + Sage... that is perfection :o You gotta show us all when that comes in :D
And of course! Will continue to update all throughout the following weeks as we pack and ship everything. Will have a better understanding of timelines once the pallets arrive and divide the workload - but we're dedicated to ship these out as soon as possible. Thank you all for your patience, super excited for guys to get your hands on them!!

Regardless of hostility your argument was/is weird and entitled - Rama doesn't owe anyone exclusivity, some times plans change, maybe he had not planned to run a second round for another 2 to 3 years but decided to do so for whatever perfectly valid (or not) reason he may have had. Successful products are coveted, this isn't Supreme or Yeezy or something, if he wants others to have a new iteration (or just a regular rerun) of the board then that's entirely understandable.
I don't think I can actually express how much that sort of mentality bothers me, happens a lot too - people buy something and then somehow the faux sense of exclusivity and entitlement being taken away pisses them off and creates animosity toward the creator and a product they would otherwise love and be proud of, comments like "pulling the plug on buyers" start flying out. Buy stuff you wanna buy, when you can/want to buy it. If you couldn't or didn't wanna justify buying R1, or feel you may regret it later, that's on you.
Picked up Moon , I have:
SA Godspeed
SA Oblivion alphas ( to pair with godspeed mods)
SA Pulse
GMK Laser & Waves

My Moon M60-A (the first one?) has arrived! :) I've posted some pictures of the keyboard below, but just a heads up that I don't have any pictures of it assembled (sorry!) I have my last exam in 2 days and would rather spend my time studying for it than spending a few hours lubing switches :) I'm looking forward to assembling my M60-A this weekend. I'll post here and on reddit once it's done!
Also, apologies for the mediocre image quality. Everything looks so much better in person.Show Image(https://i.imgur.com/0akuXOL.jpg)
First one! Inside the box is the chassis + PCB + feet, in addition to a RAMA USB cable and cloth. I opted not to purchase the extra weight, and I'm glad I made that decision... I was honestly so surprised how heavy the keyboard is (despite knowing the advertised weight) - it really does scream quality.Show Image(https://i.imgur.com/cLmwvHA.jpg)
I think I'll end up displaying this box on a shelf above my desk. It's pretty cool.Show Image(https://i.imgur.com/r7sRFWW.jpg)
The board looks incredible even unbuilt. In this picture it's sitting on a table with a standard black finish, to give you an idea of how Moon looks vs Kuro.Show Image(https://imgur.com/CxUPnlA.jpg)Show Image(https://imgur.com/hu6EspR.jpg)
The backplate produces some pretty reflections. This is just the standard moon backplate.Show Image(https://i.imgur.com/mL0vaVN.jpg)
Finally, "you vs the guy she tells you not to worry about". My first (and only) mechanical keyboard - a Pok3r with Cherry Browns an aftermarket case. Clearly I decided to get serious and skip the mid-tier purgatory and go straight to "endgame". I think the M60-A will last me a long long time :) Will try and sell my Pok3r shortly.
As I mentioned earlier I'm aiming to build my M60-A this weekend when I have heaps of spare time. I have MOD-M switches + EPBT BoW ready to go, but I've also ordered Modern Dolch which I'll probably end up using in the future. I hope this post gets other soon-to-be owners excited for theirs to arrive! Cheers.

Im still a little confused how the RGB works ... Is "color 1 " referring to the alphas and "color 2" the mods? How would someone set per key colors? Or is it effects on all keys? I tried watching the video with the demo but couldn't really hone down where the key colors are individually set.
I never understood why my buddy regularly buys two keyboards in different colors but I'm looking at the Lake colors and starting to wonder about that R2...
Thanks for the reply! As long as I can do alphas one color and mods another - that's all I care about :D
Looking forward to that configurator, I'm crippled without my custom layers!

Yep! You can do that directly through the board and then more accurately through the configurator (in real-time!)Show Image(https://i.imgur.com/XIqKBdO.png)Looking forward to that configurator, I'm crippled without my custom layers!
Configurator will be up shortly :)
Anyone know what alloy was used for this? I can't find the information anywhere.

Paid customs today, so hopefully will arrive this week still :DHey Rama, are there any extra internal weights being produced? Any way of getting my hands on one for my order?another question, I would like to purchase a second PCB, any chance?
Yep! Just reply to your order email :)Does anyone know which kind of aluminium alloy the M60-A is made from?

probably 6061/6063
6063, correct!

Hey guys! We've been writing up some guides, we'll be adding more as we move forward! The assembly documentation should be done tomorrow or so

Man, Rama just seems to outclass/set the bar in terms of group buys and just general communication. Always appreciate the efforts that are being taken here by him and his team.
Rama has a good future

So exams are all done and I had a great weekend building my M60-A! This is my first time building a keyboard, so it was pretty fun having to learn to lube switches, slowly lube each switch, and do troubleshooting! Definitely didn't expect it to take so long!

Easily fixed by following instructions.
- Moon M60-A, no internal weight
- Mod-M switches
- GMK stabilisers
- EnjoyPBT Black on White
Really glad I joined this GB. I'm happy to pay the hefty price for it given that I've ended up with such a high quality daily-driver that will last me many years. I'm not a GB expert, but Rama and his team seem to have done a great job. Communication was good, the project was well managed in terms of time, and the end product is super high quality.

Hey RAMA,
Super stoked to get my board! (hopefully soon!)
I was curious if you guys did any testing for ESD? I got my M-65A about a year ago, and have already fried the PCB LEDs from ESD from when I touched the aluminum body. Bambinoo (of suited up keycaps) posted a fix where he grounded the USB shield to the aluminum body. Do you think something like that is necessary for the m60-a? I really don't want to damage the PCB, but winter is coming, and the air gets dry - combined with wearing a sweater, I'm gonna be shooting sparks everywhere!
Jumping off of this, because I have absolutely no electronics experience outside of soldering switches: is there risk to putting a layer of rubber down for sound dampening IF that layer of rubber is making contact with the PCB? I would assume that this would be beneficial if anything, helping to insulate the contacts from the aluminum body, but I'm not for sure. I'll have the internal weight so I'm guessing the rubber will still touch the PCB.
Hey RAMA,IIRC the M65-A pcb wasn’t designed by Wilba. The Zeal60 pcb (which is what the M60 pcb is based off) hasn’t given people problems like the M65 pcb. I don’t think we’ll have issues with our M60 pcb shorting on us.

And I'll throw my hat in the ring to say that now it is cold out and my heater is running, i can no longer use my M65-A because it shocks and restarts every time I come near it. I actually don't even have to touch it :thumb:
Let's hope the same isn't true of the M60-A. Although it's kinda cool having keyboards for different seasons.

Have you tried a different USB cable? Have you checked continuity between the chassis and the USB housing on the PCB?
That sounds like a grounding issue (Which always get worse in the dry winter season). If you're using a homemade USB cable, it might not have a frame/ground connection to your PC.
ps: Shipping email says THURSDAY! I'm so excited!
I was getting all worked up trying to figure out which switches I want to use (I've got a bunch in a drawer ready to go), I remembered this is hot-swappable! My first hot-swap board :)

And to be fair to the makers out there, it's not just my M65-A that has ESD problems. It happens on my Canoe, my Tex case with a Pok3r PCB, my Norbatouch, and my E8-V1 board as well. I normally just use a plastic or wooden case in the colder seasons. Sucks, but I'm tired of running a humidifier 24/7 to keep from frying my boards.
Seconded. I’ve had an M65, a Pok3r in a TEX aluminum case and currently an e6-v2. None with ESD issues. Los Angeles area for reference.

Honestly, it sounds like your environment might have a tad affect. I've got m65, norbatouch, e6v2 and haven't had ESD yet. -fingers crossed-

Though I imagine it could also be a combination of poor ESD protection and environment.

Just wondering, does anyone know if washers are a necessity if using screw in stabs?

No. Washers are only needed on PCBs that support multiple layouts and the hole overlaps with pads, so a screw might short the pads together.

At least you know it’s on the way 😁, i still haven’t got any shipping notification 🤷🏻♂️
Finally got mine and assembled it, very nicely packaged i have noticed a few things however.
The hot swap sockets are a little loose? For my board it seems to be most prevalent on the 5/6/7 keys.
Is this to be expected?
Also i accidentally dropped one of the rear hex keys and unable to find it, what size are they?

I should have expected it but damn is the customs fee expensive :(
Just a quick question, does this board need to be programmed? If so, it would be the first board I've ever had to program so not too sure how it will go aha.

All i can say is that rama truly outdid themselves with the packaging and everything!

Not sure if you mean the sockets are loose, or the switches in the sockets.
See the guides here: https://rama.works/guides
Perhaps your PCB is not flat in the middle and switches are not inserted fully.
The four bottom screws are M4, the hex key is 3mm.
but one quick question to the Via Configurator, i saw one grey button call "Any" which description as to put any qmk command but i dont know how to use it
For example, if i want LT(2,KC_SPC), will it possible under Via Configurator or i need to do it manually in QMK?

Some things haven't been finished, like that "Any" button. If you really want that now, you'll have to do it manually in QMK. Note that you'll need to hold Esc when inserting USB to clear the keymaps in memory, so that keymaps in your new firmware get used as the new defaults. I will explain this better somewhere else in the guides, just warning you (and others), if you start installing your own built QMK firmware, it might still be using the keymap already saved in memory and not the one you built.

Oh man. First two flat tires in one week and I just done broke my 7 key :(
I was like, that's weird, wonder why my PCB is bowed up... I'll just press down... blamo, right side of the hotswap socket ripped right off the PCB. Still not sure why it happened. The pin on the switch wasn't bent or anything. Oh well. I found that I can just connect it to the diode right underneath it and all is well. Still, ima need a new one at some point. Can't like with janky stuff on my nice boards.

Well, I broke mine. That surely makes you feel a little bit better, right?
Wow. This is my first keyboard GB and my mind is blown.
There was so much foam, I think the keyboard could withstand being dropped from a plane.
The packaging and PCB were beautiful. The attention to detail was on another level. I had so much fun unboxing everything.
What blew me away the most was the color. I got Sage and I don't think any picture or video will ever do it justice. I am glad I stuck with it.
I am excited to build it. I got Gateron yellow switches but now i feel I should have stepped up and got some Tealios. Also I am going to need a Moon weight to go with Modern Dolch.

7 key no workie. Apparently I have hulk strength and my poor PCB was on the receiving end, but Rama already has a new one on the way to me. Can you friggin believe this man? Anywhoo...

My hotswap sockets for no. 9 key got ripped off the PCB too. How do you connect it back? Do we have to solder the hotswap socket back to the PCB?
My hotswap sockets for no. 9 key got ripped off the PCB too. How do you connect it back? Do we have to solder the hotswap socket back to the PCB?
If you have a soldering iron and want to try putting a hotswap socket back on, then this would obviously be a quicker fix than exchanging for a new PCB. First ensure that the PCB is flat for all the other switches. It seems most of the problems people are having are due to not putting any counterforce (i.e. pushing the socket while inserting the switches). Relying on the screws to hold the PCB flat will cause the PCB to bend in the middle. The screws are for aligning the PCB and making inserting switches easier.
To solder the hotswap, it should be OK to use the solder that is already on the pad, just put it in position and push down in the middle of the hotswap's "pin" with the soldering iron tip, which should melt the solder and form a new joint. Alternate between each side until the hotswap socket is flat.
NOTE: Soldering the hotswaps, or "reflowing" the hotswap pads, is not a solution to a switch not working. The most likely causes are the switch pin being bent, or the PCB not being flat.

Thanks for the reply Wilba. Just to be sure if the sockets can still be salvaged, I have included a picture of the ripped off socket and the PCB.
I was just wondering on one side of the socket, there is a small piece of copper metal still stuck to it which I believe must have been ripped off from the PCB. How do I attach that back to the PCB?
Thanks!

Hey! Where you at, fellow statesman?
My Sage comes in today! It's going to be a long day.

I have also raised a support ticket through to Rama. I just hope I could get a temporary fix before a new PCB is sent over (if it can be sent over).
Thanks!
Getting mine today in Canada, $104 Canuck Bucks :cDamn, that's going to hurt when I get mine as well :(

Damn, looking at all these pics and I haven't gotten my shipping notification yet. Feels bad.I think that says more about how many keyboards were ordered + the speed of the shipping. Some of these boards are taking less than 48 hrs to get halfway around the world, which is awesome! Don’t worry, the wait will be worth it bud!
Just received the sage M60-A. Quality is top notch! Thank you, kingrama. The real one is more difference than the render  Do you have any photo in good lightning condition?

Mine arrived today, I'm very impressed! I noticed that several of my keys are kind of flakey; some flat out don't work and others seem sort of on and off between resetting them. I followed the guide and it appears that the PCB is fine (shorting the pins verified all keys). But my switches also look okay and look like they're fully seated; also, swapping the switches from some of the working keys didn't seem to help. However, pressing the PCB in the problem areas did help in a few cases... is there some trick to setting/mounting the PCB? I didn't notice any problems when setting it, but I'm not sure why else I might have this issue. Not sure if it's relevant, but I got 67g Zealios; are they known to have a different profile for their pins or something that might cause this?

May be the same issue I was having. There's no screw in the middle/top of the PCB so inserting the switches pushes the PCB down slightly, which makes the switches not seat completely in the sockets. I left the bottom off the case when I seated the switches and pressed against the bottom of the PCB as I inserted the switches. That's really only needed for like E through I and D through K, if that. Hope that helps.

The best way to assemble the board is inserting the switches from the center and working outwards, Quake from TopClack recently did a build video and show's how to do it here:

Im also having issue on the 6,t,g which solved by pushing method. But after using for one day it's not register again
Should i try deassemble and install the switch again but starting from center? will it help?

Since they are Kailh hot-swap sockets, would using Kailh switches result in the least amount of problems? Going to try and decide on and order my switches tonight.
Build quality of the M60 was top notch.

Great to see one with an SA profile keycap set on it - looks fabulous and I love the high profile on it. Thanks for sharing!
I’m obsessively checking for a shipping notification, haha.
Not sure the right way to phrase this, but my layer 1 and layer 2/3 keys don't register. Keyboard also randomly goes unresponsive, forcing me to unplug it and plug it back in for it to be responsive.

Try to eliminate different things to deduce the cause. First try a different profile space bar. Then try a different switch type. Then try it without a space bar on it and see if the stabs are catching something. Then try it without a switch and use some tweezers to life the stabs up and down and see if they catch. There's some suggestions before you go removing all the switches and caps - hope this helps guy.

Yeah, it can be a be any number of things or a culmination of multiple things.
Are the stabs lubed? What switches are you using and what spring weight? Is the stab bar properly seated in the stab channel and the slider itself?
In the past, I've had issues with lighter weight springs and thicker lubed stabs (tactiles). The overall weight was a little too light to provide enough force for return.
Alternatively, I've had sticking due to the stab bar popping out of the channel.

Just got my shipping notification! So excited! It's coming this friday, but i'll be out of the country until December 1st :-[ :-[Is someone going to be able to receive it?? I think DHL can hold if on vacation by calling and quoting AWB. Or I'm not sure if shipment options are also sent to you but it's usually there as well :) Next time email me and we can hold the package here until ready to ship also :D
also love the keyboard pics above!! definitely right that it's super heavy with the internal weight, almost irrationally so :p

My SAGE M60-A arrived some days ago, and I finally got to assemble it. The green is a beautiful color for the anodizing -- the thick, integrated plate, as I expected, is quite stiff, so typing overall has a clack-ey sound signature. It's not a bad kind of sound, but it's certainly slightly echoey. I have recorded myself typing as well. Here are some photos; enjoy! :thumb:

That looks so cool. Looks like something out of empire strikes back to me. The stabilizer issue, you might just try another wire. You can read what I’ve found here: https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=93812.msg2554917
Pictures down lower that help explain.
I read somewhere that there is a round 2 slated for the near future. Is that correct?

still no notification I am dying :'(Had a quick exchange with RAMA last night — the final batch will be going out this weekend.
All these build pictures are looking great but this is just too good!
Finally got mine through, absolutely love it!
how can I put it a bootloader mode? space + b does not work
Just got mine in Dusk. It really is beautiful, and lives up to my high expectations. I'm also getting a pretty good first impression of Box Royals.
That said, one of the switches doesn't work. I found the troubleshooting page, and determined with shorting that it's the switch and not the PCB/hotswap socket that's the issue, so I'm just going to replace it and hope for the best. However, I don't have a switch remover tool. I can obviously order one, but it seems a bit excessive to make an international order for something so small. Does anyone know if there's a way to do this without a dedicated tool? I tried pushing at both sides of the switch with some pens but that didn't work out very well.
Small flat head screwdriver. Pry the bottom edge and then the top edge while slightly pushing in on the switch. careful not to scratch the case :)
still no notification I am dying :'(
Rama and his team have set an incredibly high standard for all future group buys. Everything about this project has been fantastic, from the communication to the quality of the product including the unboxing experience. My wallet is ready for the U80. I don't know if I can throw money at you any faster. Thanks again, Rama.
Anyone know the specs for the back weight screws? I may have lost one in my ultra shaggy carpet.
It seems I may have a broken PCB, a number of my keys are not working. Those keys are 6,7,8,9, Y, U. I pulled the switches on all those keys to check for bent pins and even tried fresh switches to see if they were dead switches. I was able to get 9 and U to actuate only part of the time when I pressed firmly down on the switch. This leads me to believe there is an issue with the hot swap? Any advice would be helpful.

Holy hell! How the **** did they manage that?! I'm sure rama will sort you out though!Precisely my first thought! That's a lot of packaging to punch through. When I initially saw that the outer box was damaged I wasn't too concerned, but then I saw the inner box and was hoping that the foam inside was thick enough. Sadly I don't think any foam known to man would have been dense enough to repel whatever sharp object was forcefully jabbed into my poor keyboard 😢

Overall I am extremely disappointed in the finished product and QC of the PCB. I have over 8 keys that don't register when a switch is inserted. Yes i removed the switch to make sure the pin is straight and I can jump the switch on the back with tweezers. It appears that the solder that connected the hotswap to the PCB has several issues, or the sockets themselves are bad. One would be bad but over 8 is pretty ridiculous. I can reflow them, but I wonder if I should just pursue a replacement before trying that.

This is a long shot, but does anyone have any crazy ideas on how I could mod the PCB to support a split spacebar? I’m willing to loose the top right delete if I have to.Well you’d need to drill at least 3 holes in the pcb for each switch you plan on adding. 2 for the metal pins and one for the center stub. And that’s if you plan on clipping off the pcb mount pins. This will also only work if there aren’t any existing traces in the spots where you drill. Then you’d have to find a way to add the new switches into the matrix. Since the case is fixed layout you’d need to do some serious dremel work on the case, which could get messy really quickly.
I guess another option is a different PCB that could fit the case but I believe it uses custom mount points
Very satisfied with this board. Is it possible for us to get a usb-c to usb-c cable like this one (https://ramaworks.store/products/rama-usb3-1-c-a-1m-cable (https://ramaworks.store/products/rama-usb3-1-c-a-1m-cable)) from you?

Best. Board. Ever.
With that internal weight this thing is an absolute UNIT.
I heard crappy cell-phone picture...Show Image(https://i.imgur.com/4U41hc1.jpg)
Also, this board has converted me to a split backspace lover in like 3 days flat. I keep hitting backslash instead of backspace on my other boards now :p
I'm loving all these pictures. Definitely my favorite keyboard I have ever touched currently.
GMK Plum looks surprisingly good on Sage! (Compared to what your initial gut reaction would be)

How many of you guys bandaid modded the spacebar stabilizer? I bandaided the other stabs but didn't do the spacebar since the LEDs would be covered by the bandaid.I bandaided all of mine. Used white medical tape so it just dulls and diffused the LEDs a bit on the space. It's lost light sure but the thocc is worth the trade to me

Shot off an email. Thanks for the info. I did manage to get mine working, but I am concerned long term about having an already "repaired" PCB at the start of this keyboards life. I know with some of the older group buys PCBs are impossible to find.

Wanted to update. Got a response from the email and Rama's customer service is above and beyond. This above anything gives me a great feeling about supporting him and his future projects.
Does it make sense?Show Image(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20181128/308471a0fecd369752e5d405cd985068.jpg)

Anyone else notice a fair bit of rust on the four black screws on the bottom of their base? I am tempted to replace them with stainless or pvd coated screws to prevent any rust staining..

One thing I definitely wish I did before installing the included switches (box royals; I'll get to this in a bit) is silence the space bar stab. It is VERY loud and unpleasant. I don't really like the idea of putting bandaid pieces and other sorts of odd fabric into this gorgeous keyboard, though. I think I am going to try to use one of the greases Rama recommends to get it to quiet down a bit. I'm guessing I can do this without taking the switches out and removing the PCB from the case? If that doesn't help enough, does anyone know if the Zeal stabs are quieter without modding them? If so, are they even compatible with this board? Any recommendations or tips are much appreciated.
One thing I failed to realize.. (cause I'm a noob, lol) is that I don't have any 7u spacebars.. Every kit I ordered in the past was for use on my Poker II or Pok3r and I never needed the larger spacebar. SO.. Until I receive my GMK WoB set which is supposed to ship in February, I think I'll be ordering the ePBT BoW R2 set and hope the spacebar isn't warped to hell like the ones from R1 were. Until then, my keeb is naked.
I don't know if I'm just missing something obvious but how do you program macros using the VIA configurator?
Is this or the KOYU ever getting remade? I didn't know if RAMA Works did the whole artificial scarcity thing or not.

I don't know about remade, but I do know that there are a TON of these in the wild

True, but they are always at least 50%-70% mark up and almost ALWAYS used with "little dings that happened through shipping, totally came that way promise senpai" :))

I've shocked mine a few times. Just dry here. I try to discharge the static before I touch it. It usually reboots the keyboardI wonder if shocking only happens to the m60-a? Or do you have issues also with some other metallic things?

Do you have the LEDs on or LEDs off when shocking happens?
Strange is that anodisation prevents the electric flow...

My PCB has developed a problem: 5-8 (4 keys) have stopped registering. I've tried different switches, I've made sure the pins weren't bent, and there's no visible damage to the sockets as far as I can tell when I opened up the board. How can I get this addressed?
So anyone know what the new M60-ax pcb brings? Saw it posted on instagramNon hot swap version possibly?

I like the new milk color, but I'd like it w/ the gold back plate. Is my only hope to order both the keyboard and the gold back weight separately? This seems a bit superfluous. What would I do with the original backplate? Also now we're looking at a $500 keyboard. Hmm.If it's anything like r1 then, yes, that is your only option. You could try to sell the backplate on r/mm to recouperape some cost if you really wanted to.
Will the internal silicon dampener function as a standalone alternative to the internal brass weight or is it an add-on silencer that you can install with the internal brass weight on?

It says "Cannot be used at the same time as the Internal Weight." on the product page, so I guess it's the former.
Endgame 60%. Zealios v2 lubed with gmk qmx silencer and silence rings. Just fantastic all around. Thanks Rama.
Is there any info as to whether the U80 will be an integrated plate or not? Kinda looks like it from the Rama web page but not possible to tell for sure.Seems like it’s gonna be an integrated plate. https://rama.works/prototype/2018/8/24/u80-seq-1-pcb-m6-b-proto-lumen-proto
Any other innovations on it that people can spot?

Is the only difference in Kuro/Moon Stealth editions the different backplate?
just wondering if you any of you get heavily taxed due to the amount of the board? and how do you guys avoid that?
Updates from RAMA on the U80! Mentioned Q2, does it mean it’s different from what Originative Stated on 2-22?
Looking to get the Seq 2. Is the internal weight worth getting? I have great respect for the amount of work & materials Rama put in his products, but 85$ is always 85$.
Super excited to receive my Seq 2. Has anyone commented on the height of the keyboard? Just wondering how it feels typing / over long term / with/without wristrest / etc.. The front of the keyboard looks a little high to me, but I'm curious how it's worked out for other people.
Will be extras of PBT Heavy Industry?
Do you think the Moon version of this would look good with a Rose back weight? I'm thinking of getting an extra and I'm not sure what I'd like.
Depends on the keycaps, but yeah I think it will look good. I was between that and the gold backplate. I went gold because I think it will go with more, but I think both will look good.
I think it looks good. Here's a pic of mine, hopefully this will help your decision!

I had GMK Bento in mind when I thought of this but I've also got GMK Nautilus that would probably look better with gold or the moon stealth backplate.
What were you gonna use with the gold backplate?

Keyboard height should not be a problem provided one has his/her desk and chair setup at an appropriate height.

Just put in my order for the Haze hotswap and internal dampener, really excited. This will be my first build. Right now I am thinking Zilents 62g switches and GMK Hyperfuse Remix caps, hoping it will look good together. As someone who has never really participated in a keyboard group buy, how long does it usually take to ship after the group buy ends, several months I'm assuming?

In this particular case you'll probably be looking at 4 to 6 months.
Will the SEQ2 PCBs be compatible with the original M60-A?
Sneaked in with a last-minute order of Haze M60-A. RAMA customer support is excellent! :thumb:
On a side note, I'm looking for a keycap set that goes along well with the Haze colorway and I have eyes on Metropolis and Oblivion R2 right now (pretty much personal favorites more than trying to match color :P). Any recommendation would be much appreciated.

I as well have my eyes on Metropolis and Oblivion. With Oblivion I plan to get the monochrome with cadet hagaromo for my Milk. For now I plan to join Minimal with the Rama caps and wait for R2 Heavy Industry.
Current set available that I think will look awesome with Haze is XDA Canvas purple Wolfgang or Manfred. I’m so tempted to jump on these as well. Paired with Bauhaus, Dieter and Keyluminatti will pop on either sets. Of course this would only apply if you like XDA profile. I tend to like most profiles except DSA being the last I’d buy unless it’s from a designer I like.
How are people silencing the spacebar? Beyond the usual lube and band aid mod.
The spacebar still has a lot of echo. I've filled the inside with sorbothane and the spacebar still echos. Not sure if echos is the right word, but I hope you get what I mean.
Hey guys,
I think I broke the USB-C interface board...Is there a way I could buy an extra from somewhere. the extra PCB (which include the interface board) is currently sold out on RAMA's website. don't know if my only choice now is to buy a PCB for the U-80A and use the usb-c board from there?Show Image(https://i.imgur.com/sphbGV7.jpg)
Let me know if you're interested in selling a mist or milk M60-A. Thanks!
Anybody want to buy a m-60a milk?
Just picked up one of these in SAGE!!! (hard flex)
But I'm having trouble visualizing a good key cap set. So wanted to ask for your input oh wise community... so go...

Sage just fits right in with Camping... GMK or SA either one. I'm rocking this SA Camping on mine and it's just perfect.
