Glow-in-the-dark works by taking in UV light energising the phosphur, but if it's covered from light by your keycaps, you won't see the effect even if you take the caps off and it's dark.

Are they a novelty that you won't even be able to see once they're hidden by keycaps - Yes.
Will I be buying both sets of switches and the stabs - Also yes ;D

On board LEDS would charge them, and Strontium Aluminate produces a strong enough glow it should be visible as backlighting

this is by far the dumbest idea I've ever seen... do you expect people take all the caps out the keyboard and put a lamp over it for a few minutes, just to see it glowing a bit? Cause if you have leds, why the hell do you ever need these switches?

So these are marketed as having "fast springs", thought I'd ask for a clarification there: is "fast" being used here to describe the opposite effect we'd ascribe to "slow" springs? e.g. the 68g fast spring would have a lighter initial force than a 68g spring might "normally" have (so the linear progression of the force is "faster" than a "normal" spring)

If not: any clarification you could provide about these springs would be very kind and helpful for me.

"do you use leds on your keyboard?"

"-yes I do"

"do you like led backlight keyboards?"

"-no I don't"

"then why the hell do you use leds?"

"-just to charge my GID tops, and repeat this process over and over again"

I was planning on putting some uv LEDs in a build for Cyberspace anyway so I’d definitely be interested in trying these. I wonder how much light they would receive from an upward facing 3mm LED? Looks like they would benefit from SMD LEDs... more reason for me to design a PCB I guess!

I can put everything on this website firmly under the category of "no I don't need that".

I'm gonna buy a set of the tactile switches though. I'd probably go for at least 70 of 'em.

im in.

to the poster questioning their genius.

same could be said for every single KEYCAP gb: why buy a keycap group buy, when there are plenty others ready made (but not custom color)?

answer: its custom, and it fits an aesthetic the consumer is going for.

but to be more specific, im actually in the middle of a see thru case build where im integrating uv led's.  so this is right up  my ally.
