Filed mine last week. I didn't realize returns took weeks though. :( First time tax ignorance.

I did mine the 2nd week of February on a Sunday afternoon using Turbo Tax.

My Georgia refund was in my bank account Wednesday morning (3 business days). Federal took a week longer.

If I was paying, not receiving, I would not have been so anxious to do it early.

there isn't actually anything called "your taxes" or "my taxes," just for the record.  this is merely a delusion.

Pretty sure everyone understands that. When someone says, "I have to do my taxes," what they mean is they have to prepare their tax return.

I did mine like a week ago since I owe them money, wasn't in a rush to get it done. lol

Every since I started working for my current employer(3 years ago) I've been owning money every year. So I started to dig on why I owe money and SOME ****ING PERSON WHO SET MY W2 UP SAID I'm CLAIMING 3 ****ING DEPENDENTS..WTF o_O. Just fixed that last week -_-

I always file mine the moment I have my W-2 in hand, as it's my money and I need it now. Maybe if they paid me some interest on my money, like they would charge me if I didn't pay them right away.

Sometimes it is better to have the employer simply withhold a percentage, such as 10%, or else claim no dependents, even yourself.

I have my withholding set up with my employer so that at the end of the year, I don't owe anything, and don't get anything back. That's why I haven't seen any need to file a return for the past couple years. That's why we should go to a flat tax, and never have to file another return again.

I know quite a few people who like to have their employer withhold the maximum amount, so that they get a huge refund at the end of the year. Personally, I like to have my money now, when I need it, rather than giving the Treasury Department an interest-free loan from my paychecks.

Yeah, that's great and all, but a flat tax dings those people making $15,000 a year a lot more than it dings those making $500,000+. I do think, though, that our tax system needs serious simplification. There's too many ways for people to cheat it (if they know it well), and too many ways for people to get screwed by it (if they don't). That's my big problem with it.

Finished e-filing on Saturday and got my first ever refund because it was my first joint filing. My wedding anniversary is the day before, and therefore, completely impossible for me to forget.

I hate paying taxes, too, but, in the larger scheme of things, I am so grateful to have the opportunity to live in this time and place and age that almost any price is worth it.

About 3 or 4 generations ago, and for most of history before that, taxes were almost non-existent, but electricity, clean water, plentiful food, and refrigeration were also not available.

Sometimes you have to accept the good with the bad. Personally, I like it here.

I like it here too. We're probably living in the best possible time in human history, more or less. For me, though, I don't see the government (and their tax revenue) as being the source of electricity, clean water, etc. -- I attribute that to human brilliance in general. Having a free and open political system helps that brilliance come to fruition. That's something that still awes me about American politics; the peaceful transition of power every four to eight years. You don't have to look very far afield to find places where power transfers only with bloodshed.

Anyway, hope ya got a fat refund fohat!
