Highly suggest to make the dots smaller, and/or perhaps tone down the white alphas into grey or something. IMO they look like they're all screaming for attention.

Something like L9 or CP?

The problem is that when these white dots - large, bright and homogeneous colors - are clustered together, they look very strong & can be a bit distracting. You have nice colorful dots on the modifier, but the white alpha dots are simply too strong IMO.

Unfortunately I'm not really familiar with GMK color codes, but anything close to grey or light grey would do. And perhaps better make the dots smaller?

There, a quick and dirty attempt to show my point about the difference between bright white vs something darker or greyish (I copied your existing grey color from the function keys). You can then put more colors on the backspace, tab, caps keys etc. Unfortunately I'm quite occupied thus unable to create the smaller dots example :p

My 2 cents :)

So a bright white dot should be perfect as the "accent" for the Esc key.  :thumb:

Absolutely love that is is going to be a real set!

I agree with others saying that the alpha dots could possibly do with being smaller or not quite such a bright white.

I also think that the custom dark navy colour is perfect, and that the solution you've chosen for the iso enter is perfect, anything else would look a little weird, in my opinion.

If possible maybe some colorful 1x1 dots for R1 - for 108 full size kbd.

Would also prefer a differnt shape for iso enter

I'm so glad this is getting made! Definitely in for a set, but agree the dots could stand to be a little less contrasty.

Any chance of another R3 1.25u key in the Nomad kit? This would look great on a Dimple. Could just be an alternate colour option.

All child kits for GMK are 100, so yeah.  Wonder how many keys are needed for each.

Awesome as always biip! I'm not sure whether I'll be joining because I have enough trouble typing even with legends but this would provide a really funky F-row and could possibly work in conjunction with GMK Dracula.

What layouts does the Nomad kit support? I’m just a little confused as base kit seems to cover almost everything.

It’s some extra keys for 40s and ortho I think.

I would love it if you added a 1.25u R3 key into the base kit. That's the only key needed for most 40s boards (especially when you have a set like this with no legends anyway).

Perhaps the "single color kits" I suggested earlier in the thread would be ideal for this. Instead of only twelve 1U keys, they could also come with four 1.25U keys (one per row) and four 1.5U keys (ditto).

Would be cool, but this already has the key i'd be looking for in the nomad kit, just trying to push to get it added into the base kit.

The more I look at the nomad kit, the more I think it could be absorbed into the base kit by adding on to the latter the former's few non-1U key it has, then let the buyers complete what might be lacking with single color kits (YMMV; WDIKAA).

That's a pretty sweet idea. Makes a lot of sense in a set like this since it's not like the specific legends matter at all so you can expand the board compatibility a lot without much sacrifice.

After looking at the light grey side by side with the white I think I prefer the white dots. I would be interested in seeing what slightly smaller dots looked like though.

I think this design brief could be really interesting for a lot of keycap artisans. Any plans for collabs?

Not yet, but…  ;D

This might be unpopular, but I hope biip sticks as close to the custom color in the renders and doesn't just make it N9. I think it looks better as a slightly blueish gray.

What is the point of doing renders with inaccurate colors?

Any way to get the Ctrl + Alt +Shift to be Red + Blue + Green like the traditional RGB sets/Desko? Would make this a really great accent as well as standalone  :thumb:

Nope, I use the same color codes as for DSA Milkshake :thumb:

Another serious, if possibly unfeasible, idea:

Could there be optional six seven "color" kits with, say, 12 keys (4 R1, 2 R2, 2 R3, 4 R4) of the same color be made available, so anyone that might be unsatisfied with the base kit's offering could complete whatever he or she had in his or her mind regarding a particular keyboard layout?
This. Grey or some single colored mod kit. Vote on one color?

This will result in a more expensive kit (more keycaps + another custom color).

Highly suggest to make the dots smaller, and/or perhaps tone down the white alphas into grey or something. IMO they look like they're all screaming for attention.

There is no cold colored black atm sadly that's why I went for custom colors.

deskmat idea maybe?

Sorry, I meant the order of them, not matching the specific shades. As in, make Ctrl red, Alt blue, and Shift green.

Given that kits IRL look a bit more muted than renders, I'd say keep bright white alphas as is. Also, duh, this set is very unusual and screams for attention

I agree with comments on the solid white maybe being a bit bright. Additionally, is there a black outline surrounding the dots or is it just my eyes? Would personally prefer without!

Strongly disagree with the idea of using much lower contrast alphas - really can't imagine it being a problem once the design's actually on plastic.

On a side note, based on that preonic render it really seems like putting this set into an ortho grid takes a lot of the fun out of things. I thought that could have looked cool.

All whites, yes... and that screams for vertical and/or diagonal rows of a different color to make things visually interesing.

Another example based on the 65% keyboard render, with white ESC dot & some colors on the |\, tab & caps :)

This, IIRC, is a slightly lighter grey compared to the previous example I posted earlier.

Personally prefer the grey, but seems like it's really very subjective.

Ortho layouts look less exciting with this, could be solved by using colored dots throughout the alphas, but I mainly see a lack of those on R3.

this is a slight stretch but is there a chance for a kit with just 1us in different rows with randomly colored dots
