I think those are just pics of them leaving the facility and Hayt himself is receiving them around 11/2-11/3, so they aren't headed out to us yet. That said, you pose a valid question that I'm curious about too  :thumb:

Regarding shipping, once everything is accounted for, assembled and packaged, I will begin sending out invoices for shipping charges via PayPal. So you will get a tracking notification following shipping payment via PayPal and email.

I think we didn't pay for shipping, so you'd be invoiced to pay for shipping and you'd use your updated mailing address so that hayt can ship to that one instead, the latest one associated with the shipping fee invoice.

Hi All,

I'm about 1/3 through the shipping invoices and will continue to send them out over the next few days.

Here is my current plan. Get all invoices paid by Wednesday and then I will purchase and print all the shipping labels (you should receive a tracking email notification via PayPal).

Assemble and pack everything up next weekend (11/9 - 11/10) and ship everything out in one wave on Monday 11/11.

If you do not pay your invoices before Thursday 11/7 - I may not be able to get yours out and it will have to wait a few more days.

For all CONUS participants, I am invoicing for Priority Mail. For INTL, I'm invoicing for First Class USPS since that is really the cheapest option I could find. If you would like to upgrade to Priority Mail for faster shipping and tracking, please reach out to me to update the invoice.

Time for another quick update and unfortunately this time with some bad news.

After receiving the full shipment of cases and going through every single one, we discovered 110 damaged sets that I cannot forward to you all due to unacceptable levels of defects due to shipping damage, including cracking and chips of the case perimeters (example of damage below).

This was due to poor packaging quality by the manufacture paired with rough international shipping.

The good news is that the unharmed cases look excellent, and the quality of the machine work is very high.

Here are my next steps:

1) Shipping out the first 100 cases that made it safely. These are being shipped in order of invoice #. To be fully transparent, anyone who ordered 2 or more cases were invoiced first, followed by FCFS for single case orders. This means that everyone who ordered multiples will be receiving their cases, followed by a handful of single case orders.

2) The manufacturer has confirmed responsibility and has already initiated new production for the 110 replacements needed. I do not anticipate this will take very long as we are aligned an all details including updated packing spec, bead blast, etc.

3) Once I receive an ETA for the replacements, I'll report back here. My goal would be to have these ready by beginning-mid December.

The first 100 cases will be shipping out this week.

Sincere apologies for the delay. It was a sad day for me unboxing all of the damaged cases and thankful that they will be replaced in full. Thanks to all for your continued patience.

Frustrating update.  Obviously your call but sending big orders first makes little sense as it fulfills the least number of customer orders. Are you going to notify people who have to wait?  How long do you expect this to take?

Very much in agreement here, but it also sucks to do it the "right way" in terms of fulfilling the most customers.  You either skip the 2x orders, which only serves to punish those that ordered more, or you ship out half their order and penalize them with double shipping when it comes time to ship the remainder of the order. 

Tough spot to be in, and I respect hayt's decision and transparency.  :thumb:

Yeah, that's a tough decision to make but I can understand going with the lesser amount of orders first to avoid future split shipping. In a coin-flip situation where both ways have drawbacks, this route is likely better logistically. Probably better to wrap those larger orders up quickly, freeing up more time to deal with the manufacturer, notifications and re-shipment for the 100+ others.

Appreciate the transparency and constant updates! We'll get by  :thumb:

First 97 cases have been shipped out.

One quick note on the UV lids - due to the laser cutting process while keeping the protective film on, there is a small residual substance on some of the edging. This will wipe off with a cloth no problem.


Current ETA for the remaining ~100 cases is Mid-December shipping to me. It is my goal to complete this group buy before the new year.

Hi all, for those of you receiving your cases, a quick comment on the kickstand as I've received a few questions.

The kickstand is comprised only of two pieces, there is no third piece. They slot together, forming an X, which the case then sits on top of.

I'm also looking for some nice quality photos of these stacked up with keycaps :)

Like in this case like 50% of the shipped product had to be recreated - does that mean they just won't make money but have to honor the agreement? Assume something like that has to happen.  Perhaps even with the replacements its so cheap for them they still profit? Always wondered about the behind the scenes.

As a show of good faith to the manufacture, I paid them to make me an additional 100 cases which I'll be selling in the Spring. This was to help them with the material cost of making the replacements.
