4. Black Friday/Xmas buying. A LOT of people have joined secret santas that they have to buy for, have family to start shopping for, traveling for holidays...then Black Friday was yesterday, the day of the GB, so a lot of people were picking up whatever deals they wanted to on those sales that are not mech related and might have either missed, thought they didn't have a chance, or simply couldn't cough up here as well.

This is traditionally a bad time of year for GBs. $450+ is a lot of Christmas presents.Yeah $600USD (all in) in Canadian pesos is about $800, which is probably 4x some people's full Xmas budget lol.. When my bro and gf heard that I was spending that on a keeb with no caps and no switches... When I already have other keebs... An decently priced one, coming in the mail lol.. We probably had the funniest conversation about keyboards (ie. What's wrong with the ones you have here type of convo), let's just say that they think I have a serious problem.

It was especially difficult for west coast people. Had to be up by 6am right after thanksgiving. That alone was pretty difficult, especially if you had couple drinks with friends and family over the holiday.
Still worth the trouble tho

I highly doubt that is the primary driver.
My understanding is Duck had this design done something like a couple of years ago, but the project was put on hold because the factory didn't want to do it due to fabrication complexity (translates into time, $). The factory apparently signed up after much prodding and negotiating.
This board is significantly bigger and far more complex than LSV3. Considering that, I don't see much room for "supply and demand" increase in the 16% price change which I thought reasonable.
This also is the first full layout board by Duck, which I think is a big deal.

Exactly this, the bottom an both top plate have that much more detail an complication, lsv3 shines the led from the sides on your table where as the jf has a full bottom, then the top plate vs lsv3 top plate is a whole nother story. Why is the order form still open if max orders (and beyond) have reached? Are all new orders send directly to nirvana or are they waiting to fill canceled slots?
He posted on the previous page that there were a bunch of drop outs and so he reopened the form to get some more standby slots since it hasn't been invoiced/paid yet.

There is a difference in feel. Unfortunately the Koreans are all making their plates and PCB's thicker than OTD did so there is not as much difference but aluminum is more forgiving to prolonged typing. Stainless is a firm, hard service and results in a likewise surface for the switches. IMO I would use clicky switches on stainless plates.

Usually he will say when you can't make any further changes. That's when he submits the order to Duck.

Duck boards are hard to gauge -- some are, some aren't. Some holtites are also different sizes than others.

RIP beautiful spacebar thock.

I asked elton to do the swap. I think silver bottom looks great since it makes the side underglow pop a bit more when it hits the bottom metal piece.

Any possibility of additional anodization colors? Or perhaps an option to get it "naked" to anodize ourselves?I wouldn't hold your breath waiting for other colors. The last few duck boards have all only had the option of black or silver. Much less complexity that way. Who knows about an unanodized case but my guess would be a no on that.

A few reasons. Shoah got the main one.
Or in case they make a mistake. PCBs don't really "go bad," but desoldering can do a real number on a PCB. Most PCBs have a "rebuild life" of 2-3 rebuilds before it becomes likely you'll start lifting pads or breaking something else. An extra helps avoid that.
And people like to buy kits instead of built boards.

Excellent! I'd prefer brass, the weight sits on the inside of the case so you will never see it, and more weight is just better.

I am unaware if Merlin is doing a weight for owners of the Lightsaver v3, if not, would be a good idea to add this one to your list which may help with MOQ for orders placed.

Definitely going to be brass as the only option. Aiming to stay pretty simple since I'm going to attempt to do all three boards at once. Will have one design for engraving if desired or will likely offer unpolished/ no engraving. Still sorting out details, but glad many are interested. Things are busy on other life fronts, but this is moving along and will announce in all three board threads when IC is up. :)

Have you installed the proper drivers for the board? In device manager, when you enter bootloader mode, you should see a device show up as Atmega32U4 if you have the proper driver installed. For more detailed instructions, I'll link the page I used to make sense of this process:

Hello All... I'm going to try to tackle a weight project. No guarantees yet, but I've reached out to Duck and Elton to see if there's a chance at getting the weight files to start from. Also been chatting with Merlin because he did a great job with the Blackbird weights and don't want to step on his toes, he's all good with it- has other projects of his own going, so I'll see what we can do with some weights here. :thumb:
I'll post updates and if it all goes forward/ post a proper IC/ GB because I would plan to do weights for Eagle/ Viper as well as Jetfire to do it all in one fell swoop (and not clutter the board threads). Fingers crossed.
How are those weights coming along?

Last week I had some time and added tmk support for winkeyless b.87 and duck jetfire pcbs to my repo. It's a first shot and not much tested but both boards work fine so far. I guess you'll see qmk ports soon. Have fun with your boards!

The tolerance on mine seemed a little off. I had to apply pressure to get it to fit (after trying for quite a while to align it delicately). It snapped. Warning to others: if it doesn't fit, you may need to broaden the hole a little.

You would need to install the ATm32U4DFU driver manually. I believe you can install the drivers manually by following these steps:
1. Install Atmel Flip: http://ww1.microchip.com/downloads/en/DeviceDoc/JRE%20-%20Flip%20Installer%20-%203.4.7.112.exe
2. Open Device Manager
3. Unplug Jetfire. Hold down Home button (its the very top key above the arrow cluster), then plug the micro usb cable in. You should now be in firmware mode (underglow light should not show)
4. In Device Manager you should see ATm32U4DFU. It might show up as 'unknown usb device (device descriptor failed)
5. Right click it>Update Driver>Browse My Computer for Driver Software
6. Navigate to the USB folder inside the Flip folder you installed in step 2. It should be something like C:\Program Files (x86)\Atmel\Flip 3.4.7\usb
7. Click Next. The driver for ATm32U4DFU should now install.
I used qmk toolbox to flash the hex file onto the jetfire.
in order to make use of the 02d software, you have to change your Windows locale to Korea. I also had to change the windows display language to Korean as well. After I was able to use the POS 02d software.

I was a little underwhelmed when I first opened the package but I've come round to its monolithic charms.
I do like the steeper angle, I don't like the keymapping software..
Slightly pointless comparison shot with TXCP but does show the difference in angle.

So TL;DR : Default JF plate does not support open top switch and does not ergo clear- friendly, so one of my friend re-draw the plate for JF which support open top and we're working on the brass plate for JF project.

Very similar thing happened to mine as well. I fixed it by getting a multimeter and tracing the switch and in-switch LED pads until I found a couple dead ones. Fixed by heating up the pads with soldering iron. Easily fixed.

just a thought...but maybe try a different Cord or USB port on your computer. I had this issue when I was trying to take pictures of my Lightsaver using an old cheesy power cord and a portable power supply. It came on for a second then went out. Using a better cord and plugging it into my computer it worked fine.

Heat up the soldering iron and tap around the lifted pads. Might re-connect those pads to the PCB.

Yes, with many boards and many RGB's. They're wired in series. So if one stops working, the rest after it in the chain also stop working. Easiest way I found to fix it is to re-flow the solder on the first non-working LED in the chain or replace that LED completely.

Hey guys - I got my jetfire fully assembled and working. I also got it ported over to QMK when it was built. My only question is: how can i control the underglow LED's? Right now they're just the standard pulsing rainbow, but I'd like to make it solid purple or pink.

Hey guys, I just received a jetfire kit. Have not soldered in switches/LEDs yet
When I plug in the PCB it says "Unknown USB Device needs more power than the port can supply" and then I need to reboot my computer before it will recognize a keyboard again.
Any idea what is going on/how I can fix it? Thanks!This might not be the right place to ask but can someone point me into the right direction to solve this issue.
I finally have the time to assemble my Orion V2 and when I was examining the PCB (plugging into the PC), it says "USB device not recognized" and a random number of RGB leds will flash (blue) once after plugging in.
I have tried another PC and the same issue persists.
You would need to install the ATm32U4DFU driver manually. I believe you can install the drivers manually by following these steps:
1. Install Atmel Flip: http://ww1.microchip.com/downloads/en/DeviceDoc/JRE%20-%20Flip%20Installer%20-%203.4.7.112.exe
2. Open Device Manager
3. Unplug Jetfire. Hold down Home button (its the very top key above the arrow cluster), then plug the micro usb cable in. You should now be in firmware mode (underglow light should not show)
4. In Device Manager you should see ATm32U4DFU. It might show up as 'unknown usb device (device descriptor failed)
5. Right click it>Update Driver>Browse My Computer for Driver Software
6. Navigate to the USB folder inside the Flip folder you installed in step 2. It should be something like C:\Program Files (x86)\Atmel\Flip 3.4.7\usb
7. Click Next. The driver for ATm32U4DFU should now install.
I used qmk toolbox to flash the hex file onto the jetfire.
in order to make use of the 02d software, you have to change your Windows locale to Korea. I also had to change the windows display language to Korean as well. After I was able to use the POS 02d software.

I'm going to guess he's referring to maybe per key lighting? My underglow and num/scroll/caps LEDs all work, in addition to the layer 0 LED. It just doesn't work when I switch to one of the other layers.
