Kinda early but, any chance of a round 2 soon? or anyone got a spare?

They haven't even shipped from China, yet...

If you go on your own, I think you can still order those, I did it since I'm not in USA and I'm not expecting it before march.

Anyone interested in my plate? I think I am going to go 7x spacebar, which iirc the plate is just for 6.25. I ordered a silver plate.

from the picture of the plate and the pictures, the plate supports both, it uses PCB mount stabs and the holes for them are on that plate pictured

That plate looks pretty "universal" to me. Should support 7-unit and both standard and Cherry 6.25-unit spacebars.

Yes that is right, the single plate choice was design to fit with any of the layouts the board supports.

You can still order through a Taobao agent. Mine came in at around $170, although I think I've yet to pay additional shipping to Europe.

TaobaoFocus emailed just now and said that the seller has shipped today. Now if only my switches and springs from Gon would arrive soon.

Ah, I am also going to use Desko on mine once it comes, since it will be the only other one I have besides Miami when it comes, but I actually bought Desko to use on my one board, while I wait for Miami, but my board broke 1 day before Desko came, so :I. Although, I plan on making my this my layout, although I might end up using a DSA or SA-Uniform set: http://www.keyboard-layout-editor.com/#/layouts/d284632eae185ff2206dfc2f5c8c74e3

Not that bad going Winkeyless, much more nice to have the FN key right there. Ctrl+Esc gives you the Windows menu, so its not that bad, just one more keypress and a little more stretch. And I don't use the win key except for locking my PC, so I have to hit the arrow keys 4 times on top of ctrl+esc, so not too bad.

Did someone have any kind of manual for this?

Manual would be super helpful at this point. Starting to put mine together, and the couple of switch LEDs that I put in are not lighting up - I suspect that they are not switched on, but I have no way of checking since I don't know how to switch them on (or even if they are on at all).

It is possible that you have them on the wrong polarities.

Don't think so. As usual I assumed the square pads are + and connected them with the longer LED leg. But just to be sure I've also tried a few the other way around, and it was still nothing, so I assumed that they weren't switched on. But there's no way to know at this point without the manual.

Okay, now that I got to them, the num lock and cap lock LEDs work, so yeah, the rest weren't switched on.

Okay so I've built mine together in the last few evenings, here are some general impressions.

The quality of the PCB and the case is generally pretty good, though the shot peened finish on the aluminium frame is a a bit too rough for my liking. I'm relatively new to this, so I've not got a lot to compare it too, but the machine finish is not as good as, for example, the Tex Filco TKL case that I have.

Also two of the screw holes were damaged, probably during the manufacturing process. There is enough thread left so that the PCB screws in just fine and they are not visible once assembled, so I guess it's fine.

First impression is pretty good, although it's nowhere as stiff as the Filco TKL in aluminium case that has been my daily driver for the last few months (although I suspect few things will be, seeing as it's a steel plate sandwiched between blocks of aluminium. It could also be down to the stiffer springs in the ergo clears switches though. I suspect a steel plate (standard plate is aluminium) will make a bit stiffer.

Some people have said that you can move the numpad to the left of the board, but that's not true - there are no pads for soldering the boards together once you divide them, and there are ca 20 traces running between the two parts so doing it yourself will be a real pain. Also the USB port cannot be moved. What I've figured out though, is that the RSIII is designed to be completely compatible with the Lightsaver case, even down to having four downward facing LEDs the on the sides, for the downward facing LED holes on the LS. There are two more downward facing LEDs on the edge between the main keyboard and the numpad, and that hints at the purpose of the breakaway numpad. Basically the PCB is designed to fit the Octagon/75 Mini case once the numpad is removed.

It took me about two whole evenings to put it together - mostly spent stickering and lubing and changing the stock springs, and adding the SIP socket mod. I'd say it's not bad for a first time keyboard project. Now only thing left to do is clean the back side a bit with isopropanol and wait for the key caps to arrive.

Here are some crappy phone pics because I can't bothered to get the real camera out.

Thank you so much for the info.
I am excited to hear it was made to fit a lightsaver and will likely purchase another PCB if the next round of lightsavers looks to be a ways off.
As for moving the numpad, I'm not sure if the RS2 had pads for soldering either, just that it WAS possible wire the pad on the opposite side.
[whether or not this is true for every pcb, I am no sure, I am no specialist when it comes to these things]
If it's more difficult here, then damn! They left out a great feature from their 2nd revision.
Nice build and thanks again for the write up.

How much is it just to buy the PCB? I'd like some as well to configure other layouts for my LS.

If you order some, let me hop on with you! :D

Thanks people. Anyway, I don't remember how much the PCB only option was, but I think it was around $25-$30, but it was limited to only 20 or 30 pcs this time, and they were pretty much sold out when GH took notice of the board. Although I saw his earlier creations were available as PCB only by the time the RSIII came out so I guess the next batch may very well feature more PCBs. I'm also thinking about buying another PCB, so I can build another one with a custom stainless steel plate.

If anyone wants to sell theirs due to the redscarf84 or the new lightsaber interest check, I would be overjoyed to take over your order.

These should be on the way pretty soon. When I know for sure I'll let you all know.
