The pricing
Pricing is TBD. But I can tell you this: it'll be cheap, and it'll be cheap from day 1 ;)
Render gallery

what is "cheap" for a gmk?
Would it be cheaper than $120 for ePBT currency on kbdfans?

How much was the base set for the last group buy?

I don't know how much it was, but I can 100% say it was more expensive than this one is going to be because there were way more keys included in the core set. Jan mentioned this one would cheap from the get-go

https://unicode-table.com/en/2325/

The two icons are distinct.

GMK's Alt icon is kind of a compromise between the two: it's missing the arrow like the Mac Option icon, but it's flipped around like the standard Alt icon.
Yeah, I understand they are distinct. It's just that I find frustrating the need to find a middle ground between the icon that's actually used and the one that's barely used. We can leave it at that

The set is a great classic nonetheless

How big will be needs to augment R2 sets with R5 rows?
Guess I can lean on the Modern kit and source R5 arrow keys from vintage sets.  :p

Just wondering if others are thinking about doing the same thing.

Prices on their last GB can be found here - https://dixiemech.com/gmk9009, base going for $125 at 500 MOQ. Hoping it'll be at this or less!

Anyone own and/or compare this to the ePBT set on KBDFans? I'm pretty sure I want this to be my first GMK set, just wanted to see if anyone had input on this, especially with color vibrancy comparisons.

Looking at the base kit and peering into my crystal ball (no guarantee of any accuracy) I would say somewhere from $99-$109 for the base kit. GMK will always be more expensive on a per key basis than epbt (for lots of reasons), but the entry point will likely be lower than the ebpt 9009 set.

What is an "ivan enter"?
It's a old layout available on the GH60 PCB and the GH60 satan. It's essentially a split ansi enter (instead of a full 2.25 u enter key , you use a 1u and a 1.25u key). It's pretty memey and that's the only reason I want to build a board with it. Like this

So it has the shape of an ISO return key, sort of, but it's still ansi? What do you map that added key to?

Oh, it's a TIE: an R3 1.25U key, that comprises the area common to ANSI and ISO Enter keys, freeing up the other side (be it the 1U key in R3 or the 1.5U key in R2 for other stuff).

This was common on some old IBM terminal keyboards (look up the IBM 4704 keyboards: F107, F77, F62 "kishsaver" and the pingmasters, too).

When Ellipse's F77 is out, I'm going TIE on it, too.

"Tiny Intersection Enter" (as it covers the area common to ANSI and ISO Enter keys, much like BAE would be the union of both areas).

this has to be the first GMK base kit I've ever seen that doesn't have the extra 2.25 shift included. any chance it could be moved in?

It should definitely stay in the Addition kit imo. It's only used in one layout which isn't really all that common.

Hey, nice to see that understated classics are not forgotten.

Given the improvement of the modifiers is a significant one, and given that there are many out there who own R1 and R2 sets, not to mention Original Classic sets, is there a possibility you might offer the modifiers as a stand-alone kit, separate from the alphas?

Apologies is that has come up int he thread already, I admit to not having read through each reply at this stage.

Will you be posting the revised kits soon? (there's one change still to be made to the (initial) Addition kit  ;) ).

I'd love to get this set, but I don't think I would unless the ISO support was done properly. Accented enter keys, a NorDeUk kit or UK-ISO included with ISO etc.

Were the renders made with the final alignments as well? If not it would be good to have them updated, just to see how things will look like.

Renders were not made to spec with the flat vector that was incorrect. They are closer to correct. But once again, nothing is perfect since these are just representations of the product before it exists.

Hey everyone!

Here are some kit updates!! :)

Obscure kit

The kit is further streamlined, with unnecessary duplicate keys removed. Added is fuller support for Minivan type layouts and a mod coloured quote key for ortho users.

Addition kit

Due to popular demand: inclusion of full ISO-UK support and the addition of accented ISO UK enters! The alternative 65% row is also completed for more options there.

Also some cool added renders on the J-01 by Jae from Top Clack!

I'm very excited to bring this classic back, we'll continue working on this behind the scenes and will be back with more updates soon!!!  :D

Is the top row in the obscure kit R1 or R2?

Edit: Never mind. Looks like that is a 1.75 backspace, not 1.5. Any chance of adding an R1 1.5 backspace?

Would you consider moving R3 PgUp, R4 PgDn from Addition to Base now that the former kit's been expanded? I think R3, R4 are arguably at least equally as common as R2, R3 in the wild nowadays (especially considering how many Alts Drop has sold). We're also seeing more and more sets putting these keys in their base kits.
