FAQs (updating)
- where are the rest streams?
Minterly's Sage unit is scheduled at 16th
Apiary's Ruby unit is scheduled at 14th
MechMerlin's DewDrop unit is scheduled at 15th
- why only 900 units?
It's in-stock and we have invested at max budget months ahead
The hype is totally unexpected
We have other projects incoming this year so we can't add more units without causing a delay
- what is electrophoresis?
it's a coloring technique (https://youtu.be/Epz2slejStQ) and it's not as rigid as anodization
- how to purchase extra pcb and plate?
you will be able to add them into cart 1 day before the sale from other product pages
if they are sold-out, extras will be removed from the cart
if Jelly is sold out earlier, your extras-only order will be cancelled
we don't provide order alteration after the order is in
i.e. no change, no cancellation, no addition or refund
- difference between hotswap plate and solder plate?
if you have hotswap plate, you are locked into ANSI layout
so even if you purchase a solder PCB, you won't be able to use ISO and tsangan or split b/s, only stepped capslock and ANSI
also, we will only provide standoffs to hotswap keyboards but not extra plates and pcbs
there won't be holes on the solder plate so you won't be able to use those standoffs
hence, don't get hotswap version and solder extra plate if you don't understand the limits here
- switch count?
81 switches are needed for the hotswap version. For solder, up to 85.
- I don't see the page? where to purchase?
the product page goes live at the time of the sale
- estimation of hype? how long will it take to sell out?
we don't know any other than that most people won't be able to get a unit
just be there a few minutes when the sale happens
- what else do I need to do?
check our Acceptable Quality Standards on our website
no returns, if you have faulty parts, we'll send you the replacements of them
-
Yes please....

I'm sold!

Is there a pic of the Ink and Navy straight on like the red, green and beige?

no unfortunately Ink and Navy samples are in the hands of Alex and Andy.
You can check their streams in the previous IC post I made.

interested, what's the material used for the case outside of the weight? I believe it's not all cnc'd alu right?

I believe, according to their Jelly IC page, that the only parts that are not aluminum in stock configuration are their PC plate, Brass weight and Gaskets.

Absolutely love the sound of this board (based on sound test videos). GLWGB!!

Well I tried to get one at least
-
I got one! I can't believe I got one!
I'm sorry, I am not trying to brag, but I never have any luck with these sorts of group buys. I always miss out. But this time, woo-hoo!
-
People were already posting screen grabs of purchases before the site would even show me the board as being available. Never had a chance.
-
I got all the way to selecting shipping and then it sold out. So damn disappointed...
-
Smashed it guys. Well done on the successful run!

yeah we expected seconds

I think the only reason it lasted as long as it did was because people were queued for checkout. I sat in the checkout queue for a good couple of minutes before it came back as sold out (and I was in such a rush to buy I didn't even notice until after I checked out what ended up being a pcb only order). If not for that it probably would have been seconds.

sorry about that - we'll definitely consider gb after in-stock for our next project.
-
Also since your projects are pretty awesome and have a lot of hype around them. Maybe you should choose vendors with servers that can handle the incoming load. The SEA group buy was the worst experience I've ever had on a group buy.

I don't fault you for not getting one, it's to be expected when a FCFS sale is done. I am disappointed. The acoustics of the board generated a lot of hype, and clearly the market is heavily under-served if you can blow through 700 $400 keyboards (that's over a quarter million dollars) in < 2 minutes.
I knew I was screwed right off, people were posting screen grabs of checkouts and the web site was still not showing me a buy link. I'm sure by the time it finally refreshed to show me an add to cart it was too late.

Thank you for considering a GB. I think for this board, it's extremely needed and warranted.
The FCFS is only great when the demand is not there but it's absolutely terrible when the demand is extremely high. FCFS becomes more of a game of RNG.
I logged on like many users 30-40 min prior and spammed F5 for the page to refresh when that clock hits, added the color of choosing and sat in queue. Unfortunately, I chose the color that most in the front of the queue picked as well so it got deleted during shipping portion. By the time I was able to add another color and went back in the queue, that color was also taken. By the time to my 3rd try, everything was sold out.
For the next FCFS, I would recommend that you guys consider:
1. Add a 'any color' button. So that we may just get any color that's that still the highest availability. This gives the customer better chances to grabbing a board who were there in the queue.
2. Do a raffle in queue like CannonKeys and not lose position if their color selection were first sold out.
3. Include a GB option in the website during release for those who were not fortunate enough one quickly. Their orders will auto convert into a GB.
Thank you Owlab for producing such great quality products. It's not your fault that you guys are so hot right now and in demand. I'm very happy for your company and the way things are going. But please do consider better ways of serving the community.

We think an unlimited gb would be the best cure.
I'll send your suggestions to the team.
Deeply appreciated for your suggestions.

Just move on people. It was a FCFS and it's all about how fast you are and add some luck in it. You win some and ofc you gonna take fat Ls on some. There will always be more keyboard out there waiting for you.

Unlimited GB would be amazing for so many people that missed out. Sign me up.
Appreciate you taking feedback and actually caring to respond. You guys are the best.

I would greatly appreciate a GB if it is being considered, especially because your boards are so unique. It might even help with some of the scalpers/flippers for the epoch. Of course, it's your decision to have a post-FCFS GB for this board or to do it for the next project.

don't get me wrong tho - we'll consider gb for the projects to come, not Jelly

Thank you for clarifying. It was confusing when unlimited GB was being considered in a Jelly Epoch post. I got excited there for a bit when I saw the possibility in the future.
What you really meant was unlimited GB is being considered ONLY for future releases. However, Jelly Epoch is not planned to be released again. Would this be an accurate statement?

yes. "Unlimited GB" was just me answering a comment saying FCFS isn't enough for a good project like Jelly Epoch.
It does not mean that we are offering the form of group buy anytime soon.
No additional sale of Jelly Epoch is in consideration at this moment.

That is a lot of units and there is also a very nice green color

Can't believe I missed this, is there any possibilities for another run?

not planned at this moment
sorry about that

We need a R2 of the jelly epoch! :D
-
i want a jelly too. unfortunately i had to work during the drop and i don't want to reward the scalpers out of principal.
i know doing in stock sales is a big investment so i would definitely jump on a group buy if that's what it takes to make it happen. i'm sure many people will.
