I didn't mean that whatsoever, but I guess I see why it is now in place.

Glad I could help!  ;D

But SmallFry has a point....usually 10-15 seconds is plenty.... ::)

or is the 40 seconds simply to help with double posting??  ???

of course...my internet has been so slow lately it takes 40 seconds for me to know if my posts went through or not  :-[

How about you just post on a computer then? I'll never understand why people use their phones for everything... I can't even SEE anything on tiny ass phone screens...

Let's put it this way - A laptop screen is too small. And I hate phones, tablets, laptops, and consoles.

Yup...that was a glitch.  Sorry about that.  I did some major house cleaning to the Nostalgia theme.  I got rid of a bunch of graphics resources from the SMF default theme that were being loaded but were not used.  Your browser still had the old resources cached and the new offsets caused the unused portions to show up.

Everything is going slower for me now... And the thing that annoys me the most is that I have to wait a few seconds before I can click on any links... EDIT: Or scroll...

I'm not seeing anything like that.  I doubt it has anything to do with the recent changes, except perhaps that I had to erase the file cache.  I do that on every site code update, tho.

Well then why is it happening? I don't see the header issue that everyone else seems to be seeing though.

It's really annoying to have to wait a few seconds to be able to scroll, and then have to keep circling over a link for a another few seconds before I can click on it...

What could cause something like this?

why don't I continue to get notification email on threads I subscribe after I visit GH again but not specifically visit the threads I subscribe?  Is it a bug or is it a setting I can change?

Edit: Also, I set notifications to classifieds, great finds, and group buys forums, for sure I don't get notification for every new thread posted.

I haven't been able to access the irc chat from the link above at all today. I have been able to join before and have used the irc so I know how it works, but it hasn't been working.

I don't know if the site theme suddenly changed, or if its a bug in Safari on my iPad, but I really love the white / gray / maroon theme I am seeing.  Whatever it is, I hope I can keep it!

When I logged in this morning, my Nostalgia theme had been changed to Austere. I had to manually change it back to Nostalgia, and I see that only about 45 people are using Nostalgia, instead of the usual 350 or whatever.

I know I *****ed about this already, but I feel that the way the PMs are displayed, especially the conversation view, is severely messed up. Sometimes it feels they go "missing" because they're actually hidden in other PM convos. Sometimes they don't get marked as read/unread correctly, or sometimes the order is not correct.

On Mobile Safari and Mobile Chrome, sometimes people's posts are in a tiny font size. I have to zoom in to be able to read them. I don't think this has ever happened to me on the desktop.

I've got a weird problem with Google Chrome.  Version 28.0.1500.71 m running on Windows 7.

If you middle-click in Chrome (and most other browsers) you get a crosshair kinda thing.  If you move the mouse pointer around, the page will smooth scroll.  For example move the mouse pointer up (above the crosshair thing) and the page will scroll down.

But, if I middle-click inside a quoted post and then move the mouse pointer to scroll up or down, only the post containing the quote scrolls.

Like this (sorry, my screen capture won't show the mouse pointer or crosshair) - I middle clicked inside the quote from jdcarpe in Tym's post:

You can see Tym's entire post gradually scrolling up into the post title and disappearing.

This does not happen with Firefox or Safari, just with Chrome.

So it is probably a Chrome "feature".  But I thought I'd mention it anyway.

That's kinda cool actually. I also use chrome so that works for me too. It's almost as if it's seeing quotes as a scrollable element within the webpage. But it doesn't just scroll the quote, it scrolls everything... Bizarre...

Glad it's not just me ;)

It is distracting, 'cause I use the middle-click-scroll all the time, usually without noticing where the mouse pointer is.

Sometimes I get a post opened in a different tab (if I middle-click on the post title), but more often the single post just scrolls away.

Looks like you can keep scrolling too, it doesn't stop as soon as it gets out of view.

Not sure if I need to post this, but the new buddy system will not show buddies you already had on your list, and you are not able to remove or add them again.

The old list is there, but is obfuscated my the new list.  I never used that feature, so I didn't notice this during testing.  You add new buddies to the new system by going to that person's profile and clicking "Add buddy".  It would be better if you could just type their name, though.

I've reimplemented the "Add Buddies" feature to the buddies list and fixed some UI issues in there.  The way old buddies were stored is wildly different that the new ones, so unfortunately anyone using that feature will need to re-add those people.  Sorry about that.

Ok, so i don't know if this is just me, but all of a sudden, (as in the last few days) whenever i click my middle mouse to initiate scrolling down the page, it will move around quoted text and pictures, instead of moving up and down the page

see it will take that quoted text and move it, instead of move up and down the page. don't think this is supposed to happen hehe hope i don't look stupid by posting here

Ok, so i don't know if this is just me, but all of a sudden, (as in the last few days) whenever i click my middle mouse to initiate scrolling down the page, it will move around quoted text and pictures, instead of moving up and down the page

Are you using Google Chrome?

I get that too.  Not with Firefox or Safari though.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

In Austere, I don't get to see curse words, and I don't see an option to change that. I was wondering why so many people were using asterisks instead of cursing...

I'm just wondering why sometimes smillies work and sometimes they don't.  :thumb:

And what happened to the 'thumbs up' guy?  :(
