Acrylics, GS and XT.
« on: Thu, 16 August 2018, 22:15:04 »
Hi fellows. I’ve learnt so far, that in regards to acrylics, there is GS (cast) and XT (extruded). And generally XT is of worse quality and cheaper. However, from what I read in ISO 7823-1 and ISO 7823-2 the tolerance of thickness is grossly worse with GS. While, eg. a 4mm XT plate has a tolerance of 0.2mm, the same GS plate has 0.8, that’s almost a millimeter! :o Does that mean, if I want to have relieable thickness, I better take XT?

GS sheets according to ISO 7823-1 have a thickness tolerance of
+/- (0,4 + 0,1 x sheet thickness)
XT sheets according to ISO 7823-2 have a thickness tolerance of
sheet thickness < 3 mm +/- 10 %
sheet >/= 3 mm +/- 5 %
