Title: [IC] $8 110x 24K Gold Plated Springs
Post by: jchan94 on Mon, 13 June 2016, 02:14:25
Hey all,

I'm looking at getting some high quality (consistent weight) springs to keyclack.com, but felt like running this as a GB first to bring better prices :).

This is just an IC, as we are still in development for other weights, and adding gold plating without sacrificing quality. However, pricing is finalized based on the highest spec, and with the gold plating.

Weight is measured by bottom out force (weight to make the spring go all the way down).

Here are the details of springs

Pricing

SPECIAL NOTE: Payments will run through Keyclack.com under PRE-ORDER. Pre-order means that orders will be accepted, but payments will not CHARGED until we are ready to go into production. Other items cannot be ordered with this.

FAQ

How good will these springs be?

Quality will always be my #1 priority. That's why I'm sending out samples to people that have done multiple spring swaps, know their switches, and ofc, know their mech. I am not going to say that these springs are better, or higher quality than other springs.

How is it $8?

$1 overhead per spring pack for packing & sorting into 110 unit bags.

Spring cost. Shipping cost from factory in HK to USA for about 15KG via tracked DHL.

How did you hit this price point?

Prices for GBs are a lot lower than what you think they are.

Where is this made?

Hong Kong

How is this able to be made so fast?

I work directly with factories & one of their mechanical engineers, and one of their sales staff in order to have fast turnaround times. We chat everyday for at least 1 hour over the phone.

Update #1: 6/17/16

Weights are still in development, and the most popular weight selection at the moment are:

62G, 67G, 78G, 110G.

then they are followed by..

150G, 55G, 120G, and the others are lacking.

Will most likely go with top 4 weights for final run if we can get there.

Thanks for the support ~ please fill out the form if you haven't.

If it's 8 bucks then I'll buy 2 of each 55g all the way through to 78g.
The one thing I am interested in would be the force curve.
Sprit ran a buy for springs before using soft start springs ; however, I want more even springs as 62g with the standard curve is such a good weight.

Surprisingly, that's one of the top requested weights!

The latter should be 50g, how about Cherry's?

I was told in a PM, it should be around 80g for stock Cherry MX Black. Gateron KS-3 Black should be around 50g.

I hope this GB have not happen yet and is going to happen soon. Have to replace all the springs in Zealios 78g switches as they are not to spec.

I believe Zeal had some issues with R3 Zealios 78g, the springs were lighter than they were supposed to be. I didn't really know because I ordered 65g switches and all the ones I had were pretty consistent, but I've heard some rumblings about out-of-spec 78g springs

I heard they bottom out around 72-75g, not 78g.

The springs that will be produced for this GB seem promising, if they get consistent and the OP has committed to be.
