Prototyping with cutter machine
« on: Tue, 08 July 2014, 22:01:21 »
Wouldn't it be nice to use this to cut prototype plates for keyboards?

Does anyone have this at home? There's a massdrop going on for this one.

I think cutting cardstock with this could make a nice test plate.

Even more useful, I'd like to see if someone can cut EPDM or other rubbers with it to get a really nice model F mat replacement. Even if its multiple layers, it would be a lot of help.

Not sure it's going to cut cardstock that's stiff/thick enough to be the most useful. Laser-cut acrylic is definitely preferable if possible. But this is indeed cheap.

Can a laser cutter cut the kind of rubber/foam used for Model F mats, without making clouds of toxic gas?

In the video they were cutting pretty thick stock... Plus if it is precise enough I imagine it is possible to cut multiple layers of cards and then put them together. For prototyping i'd love to give this a go.
