Artisan Keycap Filling: tips and tricks?
« on: Sat, 06 January 2018, 19:20:27 »
Hey everyone!
I’ve been working on a keycap project for a bit now, everything is going well but I’m struggling a bit with filling the inside of the cap.
I’m trying to thicken the cap: fill in the bottom cavity and shore up the sides.
I’ve tried everything- plasticine and other various types of non-earth clays, melting and pouring as well as steaming wax, casting a silicone “stamp” and pressing it into softer clay, modge podge, even acrylic powder. Nothing is coming out clean.
At this point, I’m back to plasticine, a huge collection of sculpting/icing tools and taking my time with it.

Anybody willing to share some tips and tricks on this apparently daunting task?

Thanks!
