InSanCen sees his soon to be poor Future

And my wallet is NOT going to like it.

Bumbling about Youtube looking at RC videos, I found the MikroKopters. It makes my 4 channel apache seem like a toy. Guess what the keyboards are going on hold for?

So then, this video crops up. I love the music ("Divenire" by Ludovico Einaudi), set perfectly to the film. The visuals are exactly what the pilot sees, and that is entirely how it's flown. If you look at the users other video "FPV session 2" you can see right at the beginning what he's using.

I thought this was the right place for this, because RC heli's and Wireless FPV control is about as geeky as you get.

I'm off to price exactly how long I will be skint for when I pull the trigger on one of these...

Bird of prey > RC anything.

Nice video. WIll stick with the RC stuff though... if I get damaged, it's my own stupid fault! Those birds have some serious sharp bits, plenty of damage potential that is painful rather than expensive.

I haven't yet convinced myself that I am. I am looking into similar, but less powerful copters. Assuming I can acheive a decent leverl of control with them, then I will likely make the jump up to the full mikrokopter. Seeing a vid on Vimeo of a MikroKopter at 1KM+ in height just makes me want one more...

Assuming no nasty financial surprises drop in my lap, the nI expect to have one in about a year, assuming I can control the smaller one to a satisfactory degree. Given that I fly my 4channel co-axial at (and past) it's limits, I think I'll be ok, but you never know.

Got it. I've been considering an rc copter for some time, but I have ever used one that cost more than $50 or so, I have a lot of time to put in before i'm looking for something like this. I do love the video capabilities though, that would make a huge difference to me.

The lifting ability is certainly something.

This thing can carry a Canon HF-100 below it. I suspect it's at it's limits though.

I know where I can get a small (tiny) 720P Solid State camcorder for not much money. I wonder if my existing chopper will  lift it. I doubt it, but there's only one way to find out!
