I've been lurking on this thread for a little while and I cant wait for this to finally come into gb stage. Do you plan on limiting the amount of units like a raffle system? I love the prototypes and I completely plan on picking one up!

I got a PM from vulcan on instagram and apparently there's 3 prototypes, each of which needs 2 weeks to fix the design and one month to manufacture.

Also, the sideglow design can only be made with special tools only certain manufacturers have.

Finally, to make the board as affordable as possible, the manufacturer needs to finish their major projects first before working on vulcan's.

Vulcan, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong about anything.

Does this mean this project would be on hold for about a month and a half or so? I don't mind, just don't want to keep my hopes up that it might be next week and I'd be broke from spending too much haha. At least I could budget out some finances if there were a certain date announced

At best, yes, but am certain it is going to take longer.  I could very well be wrong, but the way I interpret it is that each prototype takes 2 weeks to fix, and a month to manufacture the next batch would mean a total of ~10 weeks.  Additionally, it is possible that there could be new problems with the next batch of prototypes, so we would have to go through the process again if we want to fix it.

The factory needs to finish their other projects, which we have no idea how long that is going to take, and if it is only what is currently in production, or if there is a queue.  However long that is going to take, it is hopefully shorter than the time it takes to make a good prototype.

Finally, delays can happen for pretty much every possible reason and could take an unknown amount of time (points at espectro).  Personally, I am willing to wait for as long as it takes.  The way that the lighting is implemented is completely unique from what it seems, so I think it is important to have it as close to vulcan's vision as possible.

It literally says right in that last picture that the alignment is off because it's not screwed together. the top is just sitting on the bottom.

Hey Vulcan,

Your project looks beautiful and I completely plan on picking one up when it comes out. Is the estimated price still going to be around $190 with the PCB?

Thanks!

If anyone is interested in an ortholinear layout, Shensmobile has started a GB for a 60% ortholinear PCB and plate. He'll even offer to make a custom plate for top-mounted boards, like the Fusion60, for only $10 more. All he needs to make this happen is the DXF file so he the machinist can have exact specs. during manufacturer.

Volcan, would you be able to send Shensmobile this file? If you need his contact info, I have emailed you as well.

I would love to join but some questions:

1. Will you have an option without the plate? I would like to just buy the board if possible.

2. Will you be posting the dxf file of the hhkb top mount plate? I'm looking to get a copper plate made that will fit this board

3. Will you offer a dark gray color option?

Edit: Adding a question 4: Will you be offering a round 2 if the first round goes well?

Thank you!

Ah yes, I did see that. I wanted to know if he would post it on the thread so it can be accessed anytime without request after the GB opens.

1. well no, it only comes with the DIY kit and Case only (with plate include)
2. yes, i will post the DXF file on the GB threads
3. Only titanium grey, like the second prototype
4. Most likely no, because after this i want to focus on Mataram. but we will see how hype can this case go..

FYI, Round 1 GB is limited to only 50 board  :thumb:

He's doing 50 for round 1, probably with the intent to do more rounds in the future. Having too many boards in the GB wouldn't be a good idea.

Hai Guys

I have some great news, the prototype have arrived and I 95% confirm it, there is a very minor problem that i need to fix, but it's very minor so there is no need to make sample again.

Group Buy will start very shortly, around desember or maybe january. and GB will be held by the one and only KBDfans.cn

so if you are interested on joining, stay tune to KBDfans.cn
